Hi, I only ride with a splitboard in the backcountry now, so I have no use for these. They are Catek Freeride II's from a few years back, with all the hardware minus the ankle straps and highbacks (which were pretty much meant for replacement anyway) But the baseplate and all hardware is ready to go. They are un-used as I started backcountry riding exclusively soon after ordering them. This is the model with elastomer under the discs, and it has infinite canting. You'll just have to find a set of highbacks/straps that are the right width to bolt into the highback loop. I'd prefer to sell locally within Montreal, where I live now for University. this snow was 2 feet deep on top of glacier, with the heavy snow on the bottom and lighter snow up top, I didn't have a snowboard though! from that summit, that's definately one moment that I wanted a snowboard so badly! that bowl is huge

oooo that looks good You didn't have to put any washers to fix fit problems with highback? Fits real snug? SPX55 winged highbacks and those burly straps look what should be on the Cateks for max carvability, especially with Malamute boots which is what most people end up with anyway...

haha yeah if we're not only talking about resorts here, here's my addition: Mont St-Bruno their vertical footage is "undisclosed" I'd estimate it at 300ft. It's terraformed, full of death cookies even after big dumps, and if you venture off piste you are blocked by a large fence which guards a cliff that drops into a strip mine. PLUS: it is RIGHT next to a city of several million people and has the largest beginner school in Canada, on comparable rideable acres to a mall's parking lot. ugh. But it's funny to ride and it can actually be uncrowded sometimes and you get "nice" views Montreal, if you like looking at cities.

Are the Salomon SPX55 highbacks and straps compatible with Catek Freerides? Anyone?

Yay, here's a fun topic, rant about your biased and opinionated views about the your most terrible resort. We can compare. State your favorite resort too for comparison. WORST: Tremblant... argh! -perma-ice , bumpy **** everywhere, millions of "icebergs" from man-made snow on the sides of pistes which is the only place you will ever find pow most of the time -terrible insta-village, fake, plastic, solely profit driven, fake atmosphere -lifts always busted -not my type of people at all (obviously subjective) -crooooooowwwwwds, and lots of totally retarted anti-snowboarder attitude coming from one-pattern skiers who talk about the pow they skied through with their top of the line racing skis, and maybe get 5 days a year -NO SNOW (who cares if it's dry when it comes, a miraculous 12" dry dump you still feel the bottom on every turn cause they're so rare) at least: it's pretty, some good carving terrain on weekdays (late feb, early march actually pretty good) good spring riding if you are into wet snow Favorite Local resort: Jay Peak it is such a skier's mountain in layout and type of terrain, but it's just so good. so much snow, so often, so dry. GREAT backcountry options right outside the resort (for the East) Great people, not often crowded and easy to avoid crowds if there are. Tight trees, but good to practice. (not a carving mountain) The best carving resort I've been to is probably Mt. Ellen (sugarbush) My favorite mountain that I've been to is probably Brighton. Although I think my favorite mountain would be Kicking Horse, Fernie, Rogers Pass area

The Cateks are THE binding of choice for softboot carving... but wait until the Freeride Pro 2's. I find that a few things need to be improved: 1- the straps + highback! + make the highback rotatable. we'd be willing to spend the extra money 2- maybe a bit more shaping to the form of the boot. There could be a "carving" model of the Freerides with winged highbacks and tight boot/binding shaping. Also damping could be incorporated in the boot/binding shaping. - and of course they will be repeatably adjustable with no wear, which is good, and lighter, but what would reallly make them perfect is a lot more shape to the boot/binding interface and straps/highback that live up to the quality of the rest That said, I ride 24/0 on my Freeride board and 36/15 on the carving setup. I would like to ride around 40/24, I find that's where the balance between heelside performance meets toeside performance. The right angulation comes very naturally at that stance I find. but we need winged highbacks.

Alright, who has rode both the older Madd 168 Carbon Butterfly, and the newer all black ones with orange sidewalls, without Carbon? What are your opinions on the difference in ride?

Derf yah I forgot, I did get it, thanks! :) Hmm those Arcteryx jackets are pretty sweet looking,and so light, I think I'm leaning towards Bonfire and Ripzone though. do any East Coasters really wear soft shells?? It seems they'd be pretty nice out west for hiking etc. with all that breathability but I'd be getting hypothermia pretty quick I think in Vermont and Quebec...

Alright I know exactly what I want to buy for next season, but I can't find it! I need a top-end hard shell that is actually designed for snowboarding (backcountry too). I've tried on all those Patagonia/ Arc'Teryx/North Face shells and they seem to be designed for skiing. They're tight, they don't feel like there's much mobility in the arms. On the other hand, I tried on Burton AK jacket and it's too baggy, I sized down and then it felt alright but the hood was too small. I'm sure with a pack on it would be ridiculous, a lot of excess material popping out near the straps. I want to try one of those Ripzone Team Shells but I can't find them. So the skier shells were all styled and fit wrong, I mean, I'm not wearing a flashing orange shell that says $$$ with brown stripes on it. But I'm also not riding with a baggy camo or those checkered designs that are oh so hot right now. I just want a hard shell, solid color, 20000mm/10000g, not too baggy but has large hood.
