I have 3 degrees in front and back--running both at the standard 90 setting (with just toe and heel lift). I tried running the back with some slight outward cant, but I couldn't transition easily to my toeside edge when I set it like that (I had to pull up on the back of the board and lift it onto the toeside edge).

Correct me if I'm wrong but with the center disk at 90 degrees, doesn't that give you lift and inward cant?

Thanks, I made the graphics myself...it's a tribute to my favorite place on the planet--the Oztal Valey in Austria (at Solden in the shadow of the Wildspitze).

When my boots are mounted in the bindings, nothing's hanging over. Must just be the picture.

I'm going to have to muster the self-discipline to stay off my sofites and keep practicing with my Coiler.

Beautiful place indeed. Awesome graphics...nice touch with the jodeler. Keep at it with the board; once you get the hang of it, it's a very forgiving board IMO.

Those splits are soo sick. I'd love to see one in person. I only hope you have the proper conditions to put it to good use.

I just got a permanent 'fluffer' for my pornstars.

Best part is, it was only $250!

Bow-chica-wowow!!

I absolutely love it! The black VSR was a demo at SES in 2010, it was the funnest board I'd ever ridden. This one has the XTight 10.5m average radius; it works on ice, has a wicked pop out of turns, floats surprisingly well in knee-deep powder, etc. If I ever break/damage it, I'll order an exact replacement the next day. The NSR is the choice if the snow is good and there are steep runs, otherwise the VSR is the first one out of the bag. I really didn't like the look of the square/blunt nose at first, but it works and gets a lot of comments in the lift line. It gets a little twitchy at higher speeds, but I'm constantly surprised at both how tight AND how big of a turn it can make.

I've loaned it it to two other people at SES, both have bought copies - after I pried this one out of their hands. LOL!

Wait, so that Proteus 180 isn't getting any snow time???? Ummmmm... LMK if it needs a home.

Sick! You must live somewhere snowy...

Unfortunately not. This board was a gift of a friend. I ever wanted a splitboard and a swallowtail. Now I have both.

Chistian,

Does your Phenix spit into 3 peices? Do you carry the middle part on your back going up? Would you show it split up? Cool Idea.

Ron

Yes it split into 3 pieces. The middle part goes to the backpack.

... more pics........are soft boot board pics allowed?

some car companies create halo vehicles..... some board companies create halo boards.

Ridden with Bomber powerplates.... in the pow and on the ice.

:)

sorry for the crappy photography

Hey Norm, love the Halo board! Could you share some bigger photos on Photobucket or via e-mail? My personal e-mail is "dan_pdx" followed by "@hotmail.com". I work with some people that would get a hoot out of that board.

That is so cool! How does it work as a snowboard, is there a lot of flexing between the three pieces?

Congratulations, nice Phenix board.

3-piece-splits are not realy new.

Jester sports of Konstanz (Germany) was decades ahead and protected by patents (for freerideshapes and swallows, now patent became free).

System comes with same lacks (on 3 piece even more then on 2) as on any splitboard. Even Jones carbone one doesn't help to override all lacks.

I was really sceptical about that. When flexing it with my hands, it felt like a normal snowboard. But I thought, when riding on piste the torsional flex would be to much.

Yesterday I did my first few runs on that beauty. In the beginning the stance and angle felt very awkward. But run after run (I wanted to test the riding performance of the board, so I used the ski lift) it got better and better. After a while it was very easy to carve this board. It was absolutly stable enough. I really can't say I noticed any additional unneeded flexing. And blasting through some left over pow stashes was pure fun.

So after this short test, I can say the board performs fantastically on piste. Keep in mind, this is no alpine board. So my Coiler is definitely better in doing some speed carves, but for soft snow conditions, when you can't carve very well, this board is perfect (and of course for big pow days, there is nothing better. But I think there is no arguing about that.)

Wow, now that thing looks like a vampire slayer. Was it built by Phenix or did your friend cut it up?

The board was build by Seb (shaper and owner of Phenix www.phenix-snowboards.com). He knows exactly what he is doing. The board couldn't come out better. I'm really pleased with it.

Signal snowboards make a 3-piece-split too? Thanks for sharing. Signal's are rare to find in Europe. Seems to be a nice gadget, I mean the whole prototype snowboard. They do copy F2 Revo-base system also ;)

The serious one I wrote, You will finde here: http://www.t3-splitboard.de/ :)

They started at 1986 with slpitboards.

All connectors are out of reinforced plastics, to prevent icing-up.

Now Powderequipment is selling that board.

The brand Powderequipment takes focus to snowboards and skis for Alpinism.

Alpinism by Powderequipment means to go for things like that (click link for picture):

Chamonix Mont-Blanc - France

St. Moritz Bernina - Switzerland

On the way from Zermatt Matterhorn to St. Moritz

Phenix is known for to ride on places like them above.

So improved ice-grip and proofness to shark-attacks is a theme and for sure lightwight for carry them up.

You know, carving rough blue glacier ice needs specific boards.

Powderequipment comes with a capable for it Alpine board, the Typ-A: http://www.powderequipment.de/pages/snowboards/typ-a-board.php

That board is usable for to cut trenches on slopes for sure, even on late afternoon mogul-slopes. More than that, it's dedicated for Alpinism.

Nice freeride-mountains like that flank here, can be called the basic area for it.

Alpine snowboard Powderequipment Typ-A before downhill that flank.

Right for to get a smooth nice speed-ride down, where the board is sticking.
