tex1230
Mid-80's, Probably my last time on skis before I hung them up for the beauty of the single plank...
colintkemp
Tex, You apparently missed the personal "best" with that one... Amazing outfit color coordination. It makes me want to wear red gators to the office. Thanks for starting this threat. I'm digging into my archives. Colin
utahcarver
Ripped stinky shorts, no money, no gas money home, no beer money, Kmart tube socks, riding for the love of it. No shower in several days. The skatepark was already defunct and we were riding outlaw during this time. Kryptonic deck with Pizza Grip, Trackers and Gyro aluminum hubs, fast, very fast wheels for 1981. If I had pics of my snowboard(s) during this time period it would be referred to as, 'White Trash riding home-made plywood boards'. It wasn't pretty but, it got the job done. Anything, ANYTHING turns in powder if you want it bad enough. Mark
queequeg
I thought I was so cool! Brilliant idea Tex! ... but didn't Sinecure already win this contest? :-p

xxguitarist
Bump from way past, fun thread. That'd be my leg. That twin fin fish was THICK and a first attempt from a friend at shaping. I was the test pilot. Lets say, it didn't like hollow stuff.
KingCrimson
Bump from way past, fun thread. That'd be my leg. That twin fin fish was THICK and a first attempt from a friend at shaping. I was the test pilot. Lets say, it didn't like hollow stuff. Where is that? Is it a reef on a really flat beach making it barrel far out and then gently spill on the beach? xxguitarist
It's here in RI. The beach drops off rather quick to chest+ deep, then out a little bit there is a somewhat shallower sandbar. Where and how shallow depends on the month and tide. Wave is powerful and fast, but the drop and kickout are sketchy.
KingCrimson
Looks like the **** for freestyle bodyboarding if it has a steep bar that makes it tube up like that with fun little spillers at the end. I stopped surfing when I started playing around with bodyboards in gnarly shorebreaks..Too much fun to bother with a surfboard!
xxguitarist
I like standing up to surf, and prefer reef type waves to heavy shorebreak, but i can agree that on days like pictured, that place is best tackled on a bodyboard. Wouldn't be much fun to catch that wave on your back though. By the way, that picture was taken on Jan 1st

Arclite
Ever since my first time on skis (when I was 4? 5? ) I would straightline, cartwheel, name that crash, repeat. For some reason I never get hurt with falls like that. (knock on wood) I have video of that somewhere actually, give me a moment... Skip to 15:20 (sorry for it being that long, when I get home I can edit it to just the part where I superman off the board.) <iframe src="http://player.vimeo.com/video/7684429" frameborder="0" height="300" width="400"></iframe>

Futahaguro
OUCH to those last few pictures! Was the one on the landing zone of a kicker from Boardercross? Those are some nice pics!
!MaineCarver!
Haha. Yes the one on the right was on the landing of a wu tang in a boardercross course. The one on the left however was on a 162 prior sl board. The one on the slalom board I compressed my nose and it just through me in the air that is how that happened.
