My season is done. Sprained my ankle pretty badly last Saturday carving at Mt. Bachelor. Same day that I bought a spring pass. Bummer.

What I learned:

GS board vs. mogul..... mogul wins! :smashfrea

Be careful out there.

Who cares about the ankle, how's the board?!

From a fellow hardbooter one spring day.. "Moguls and GS boards mix like alcohol and skittles"

Is that the Overlook!? Creepy...

Not sure what you mean Rob? "Overlook".

Timberline Lodge is a Historical lodge built by the CCC. Artisans and crafts persons lived on site and most materials came from the surrounding region.

Have you heard, or seen the classic movie "The Shining" ??

They used Timberline Lodge for the outside shots of the hotel. The insides were a different hotel.

from mammoth official site on April 29

Today's Report

Mammoth has been lucky as we received a foot of fresh snow in the past 48 hrs! Snow conditions are supreme while it surely doesn’t get better than this in April. Expect a powder day today with a chance for some more snow. Friday into the weekend looks great with blue bird skies and back to those warmer temps. West Coast Invitational hits Mammoth this weekend with a 3 story high jib set-up in The Village and a concert featuring The Eagles of Death Metal following Saturday night. Get your tickets now for only $5 by calling 800-MAMMOTH. Tomorrow is the last day to buy your Half Price Season Pass for next season, so don’t miss out on the best price!

The 6am temp at Main Lodge was 12 degrees with 11 mph winds. Up at the summit, the temp was 5 degrees with 19 mph winds. Lifts are open daily from 8:30am to 4pm, wind and weather permitting, servicing a base depth of 10-14’. Remember that obstacles do exist so please ride with caution!

Overlook is the name of the hotel in The Shining.

Yes, and Surf Film legend Greg MacGillvray some of the Cinematography

Greg of course went on to do such Imax films as "TO FLY" and "EVEREST"

as well as many others...started with an old 8mm camera at newport in

the late 50's filming friends hanging 5 in the beachbreak...

No! Shots from today. Looks like good carving to come by Sunday. Whoohoo!

Queequeg, the glade shot with Rebecca skinning at a closed Willamette Pass is for you! I don't know anything about great tree riding. ;) Too bad it is a little too thin coverage in there right now.

It snowed (a tiny bit) at my house this afternoon! That's after almost sumer-like conditions for quite a while... The peaks of the local mountains are white again. However, they are closed for the season. Planing WHistler...
