    What about Festivus??
  3. Nope, Nidecker Carbon 900's. I enjoy a good day on the softies when the conditions are right.
  4. John, Pick the fork that will give the top tube the same angle it had prior to the rear suspension modification. In theory, this should keep the suspension close to being in balance, at least so that you can make minor adjustments to get it balanced. I wouldn't eff with the sag. I would recommend using the manufacturer's recommend setting - on one end to minimize the likelihood of bottoming out, on the other end to give you the right amount of feel and keep from pushing it out. On my street bike, the suspension was set-up for a 170-lb rider. For me the bike feels wallowy, it's hard to keep a line through corners and any bump/seam/crack that unsettles the suspension results in me providing a lot of input to stay upright - to remedy this situation, the bike will under go a transformation this winter (new internals [springs/valving] of the front, a new adjustable Ohlins on the rear). With the dirtbike, I made the mistake of trusting the word of someone that I did not know with respect to how the suspension was set-up. After two major get-offs and $2.5K in out-of-pocket medical expenses I decided to check the settings for myself. The front sag was too low and the rear sag was at half the recommended setting. No wonder I wasn't getting comfortable on the bike. The rear had no feel and always felt like it wanted to walk around the side, which was made even worse by the front being too soft. Again, this bike will also see major suspension work this winter. An out-of-balance, out-of-adjustment suspension is not worth it. As you know from your roundy-round experience - a well dialed-in suspension is heavenly, while a a set-up that just ain't right can be a nightmare.
  5. I have one. I like it, but regularly rotate boards in my quiver. I ordered the board in March 2011. It has two or three half days ride time, the condition is as-new. I have $800 into it; I'd sell it for the right price... Make me an offer I can't refuse.
  6. listen to Mario, it's been three or four years since his head knocker and he still ain't right :D

  10. yooperbuy,

I would consider myself an above-average carver. I have the privilege of riding with some former racers and coaches which has helped me to define my style and ability. I do like to push it when I ride, but ultimately I used this board when I wanted a more relaxed day on the hill or was headed onto some super steep black runs. I ride my Virus or JJA Cypress when I feel like getting a workout.

At 185lbs, I think you would be fine. With the variable sidecut, a slight shift in body position has a dramatic effect on the way the board turns. You can shift, rather than having to drive hard, to change the turn shape.

    Hope that answers your questions.

    Dustin

Shelly and I are planning to make our first appearance on the hill on Sunday. Nice to see that Lovey in finally getting some snow! Since they have improved the forecast for Saturday, I may stay local and ride the motorcycle. Not sure... may hit Lovey.

    3 Metal Coilers

Below, I have listed 3 Titanal Coilers for sale. FYI - I will likely respond to questions faster if you email me. The price is listed in each ad below; you pay shipping and insurance. Yes, the board must be insured for both of our safety. Payment is to be made via PayPal or in person with cash. Sorry, we are not interested in trades. SOLD - <del>Board 1 - Coiler VSR</del> - SOLD Length: 173cm Tight sidecut (~11.5m per Bruce's website) Waist: 20cm Orange snakeskin topsheet Built ~March 2010 season. Built for me at ~200lbs. Ridden ~20 half-days. Bruce made an oops when he engraved the length into the sidewall; he marked it as 168cm. Yes, the board measures at 173cm The board is poppy and lots of fun to ride. The VSR can make any turn shape that you can imagine. Sidewall marking is: T 168 VSR T 010DT 6.8+6. The waist is 20cm There is one spot that has been dripped with P-Tex. There is one spot on the nose where the base is wrinkled; it is forward of the effective edge and does not affect the way the board rides. Apparently the board fell out of the rack and landed on this spot, resulting in a slight compression of the edge and buckling of the base material - again, this is not within the running length and will not affect the board. The white-ish/blue haze on the bottom is Hot Rod Race Wax. This board has never been ground. See pictures below SOLD Board 2 - Coiler RC I am listing this board for a friend, it may take a day or so for me to get answers and respond to any questions Sidewall engraving: T 179 CL 010 ABS1 - 6.8+4.5 Length: 179cm SCR: 13.2m Waist: 20cm waist Red flame topsheet Built for the 2010-2011 season. Built for a 170-180lb rider Ridden ~20 half-days This board was built as a retail board and sold at All Boards Sports; hence, the "ABS" in the engraving. The white-ish/blue haze on the bottom is Hot Rod Race Wax. See pictures below RC - Asking $525USD + shipping. SOLD - <del>Board 3 - Coiler AM</del>- SOLD I am listing this board for a friend, it may take a day or so for me to get answers and respond to any questions Sidewall engraving: T 177 AM 21.5 09 ABS4 - 6.8+4 Length: 177cm Sidecut: 12m Waist: 21.5cm waist Orange topsheet Built for the 2009-2010 season. Ridden ~15 half-days See pictures below SOLD Board 1 - Coiler VSR Board 2 - Coiler RC Board 3 - Coiler AM
  17. The Plow used to be mine and I currently own a Tom Burt. At my weight, 210-lbs sans gear, the longer nose on the TB does a better job keeping me on top of the snow. Both are very diverse, great riding boards. The Plow is built with less camber so that you get full edge engagement without storing tons of energy. Don't get me wrong, if you work the Plow, you will easily get airborne transitions. I think the Plow s faster edge-to-edge. The Plow also feels heavier which is most likely due to core being noticeably thicker.

    Yo Lci!!

Besides Keystone, Granby Ranch Resort (formerly Sol Vista) is the only other resort in Colorado, that I know of, that has night riding.

    Whooopsy!

doh! at least he landed on his arse.
  20. My current set up is Scarpa Maestrale boots with Bomber Splitboard Sidewinders attached to Voile plates, mounted to a 180cm Venture Storm R. The boots: light weight, great range of motion, crampon compatible and will work with my snowshoes. The bindings: it's a Sidewinder, what more needs to be said. The Voile plate: I'm not thrilled with this plate. It does not feel very sturdy and I question the durability. Granted, I weigh-in at 200lbs. The board: I went with the long board for the flotation on the way up the hill. With the rockered profile, on the way down the board rides like a 160cm cambered board. Plus, the SCR was larger than I could find on most other boards.

    FS: VIST Plate

Got it. This thing is pristine, thanks!
  22. Volkl Selecta - it's a very underrated board
