Yesterday was good. Today was a wind loaded version. The snow was DEEP. Arne and I ran Bennets twice. Yesterdays tracks were gone. Went over to #8 and proceeded to reap the overnight wind load rewards. It was near knee deep and outstanding. Lots of props from the chairlift. One snowboarder commented on having the misfortune to get caught in one of my canyons. Conditions warranted riding my big powder mono. The trenches that I was leaving would make a great kids bobsled run...

Bigs, Odd Job and me on a twin tip Donek mono, completely DESTROYED our favorite run @ the Valley. 11 runs there and the trenches were wicked and plentiful. While riding back up we took strange pleasure in watching the beginners literally crashing when encountering said trenches. Over and over....I kinda' felt sorry for those poor souls who encountered Mario's heelside carnage. The nightly grooming will need a few extra passes tonight to erase the mark of the LCI.

As cool as it is, Monoskiers are the red headed step children of the snow sliding world. The Alpine riders know the feeling well. The crowd did respond positively to our segment though... It is pretty cool when I'm watching the movie and our clip comes on, people next to me do a double take on me.The're like "hey that's you". Apparently it's impressive. I'll take it... Don

I seem to remember seeing info somewhere that X turns = X degrees. I use Cateks on several of my "toys" and I just adjust to my liking. I don't care if I have 3* toe. I just ride and feel. I got some Virus boots last year and changed to step-ins. The first rides were not good. Recent talk has informed me about the bigger heel rise. I'm anxious to re-adjust the angles taking that info into account. You could also use a cheap "angle finder" to get things close to your target numbers. Home Depot, Lowes, carry them.
