  1. I road raced in Portland/Seattle from 1990 to 2002. After a pretty bad crash I stepped back from racing and satisfied myself with my highly modified '91 ZX11.Then came a new '03 Concours and now... The comfortable ride.
  2. Also cell phones have an "in case of emergency" space to enter a number for that reason. I also carry my wifes business card with a hand written, "in case of emergency please call..." in with my season pass, and, I don't even carry out the trash without my wallet/ID. I've always asked my wife to carry her ID/purse/wallet, whatever, even if just going to the corner store with me. Don
  3. The MonoCarver was imported in very limited numbers to the U.S. This one is a 2002 model that I bought in late 2008, (it was brand new). I guess I did ride the original bindings for a few times before I put Cateks on it. The Volkl had it's own hole pattern but if you turn a 4X4 45 degrees it works fine. It's a 175 CM... 14.5 M radius... 12 CM waist. It's a metal top board. It's been base ground 1 time and could prolly use another, (there's the usual binding "suck" so use a reputable tuner). I prolly put 40 days on it. Holds real well on hard pack as Volkl's do in general. 130 # might be a little light for a rec rider, but would be fine for the more aggressive one. It's a little too soft for me @220#. It didn't take me long to ride hard on it. Overall the base is a 8/10 and the topsheet 9/10, The base has 1 light groove to fill which might come out with a good tune. I run 1* off the base and 3* off the side = 88* edge. Don
  4. Your best option might be hooking up with Chad of Coda for a demo of one of his before you buy. http://www.codaboards.com/monoski_models.php Don
  5. I've got a green topsheet Volkl MonoCarver For sale... $300 (circa 2002) It does include the stock bindings which used a few times. Don
  6. Hi Ace, I picked up the 180 Lacroix that was on craigslist in Silverthorne. Mikel45 posted the link last November. I just had the guy drop it off with Fin. (Fin's the Man!) I'm coming out for our "MonoPalooza" in the end of Feb. and will collect it then. Don
  7. Thanks for the video. I thought it wasn't bad at all, especialy given the conditions. I was worn out and I hope I rode better earlier. That was the lamest ski carving I've ever seen. Even my wife said I sucked, and she doesn't ski or ride. I'm trying to excersize my lower back back into shape trying to avoid another surgery, (which has been advised). All that aside I love to carve and hang out/ride with alpine riders because they "get it" Thanks again guys Don Feed the addiction...
  8. Hey Art, Fin is holding a Skwal that I bought online for me. Drop by and see if the bindings will work for you. I don't know what they are as I've never seen the board. I prefer Cateks so I won't need them. I'll be out end of Feb. possibly sooner. If they will work for you... you owe me lunch and a beer ? Don Feed the addiction...
  9. Met up with Dan and Octavio today. Nice making turns with you guys. I had a ball, weak legs, back, and all. Don Feed the addiction...
  10. Any carvers going up tomorrow ? I'll be out on the Virus skis or a Skwal. All black, red helmet. Don Feed the addiction...
  11. Many of us have had a concussion at some point in our life. Alpine riding can hand out some bad ones. Every season I see the posts of someone who got one or know somebody how got one. I have had 4 or 5. Like many I think... I feel fine and the doctor is just being overly cautious. I'm no exception, with excuses like, "I'll take it easy today", I'm riding with the kids it'll be ok", "I feel fine", "It isn't a bad one", etc... Here's a link about the possible effects of not following the Doctor's orders. http://http://www.everydayhealth.com/kids-health/0102/second-hit-leaves-young-football-player-in-wheelchair.aspx?xid=aol_eh-news_4_20130101_&aolcat=HLT&icid=maing-grid10%7Chtmlws-main-bb%7Cdl27%7Csec3_lnk2%26pLid%3D251960 Don Feed the addiction...

    Yo Lci!!

As much as I miss all you guys, it's not all bad here... This morning's report for Stevens Pass was 39" OVERNIGHT. That makes 6 FEET in 48 hours. Needless to say... the powder board is the tool for now. Hope some of this heads your way. Don Feed the addiction...
  13. That was strange... I open up the facebook link and I'm looking at my wifes facebook page ?? I'm not sure what picture/story you were refering to though. I love carving the MonoSki, and various Skwals. Don Feed The Addiction...

    Yo Lci!!

Well we survived our first summer vending food. Win some lose more. We learned alot and are looking forward to next season. The big news is we are going to stick around the N.W. for the winter. I will try to come out to get my tools opening weekend, or the next for sure. Also coming out the end of Feb first of March for MonoPalooza. Looking forward to ridin' with the LCI then. Missing all ya'll... Don Feed the addiction...
  16. I have the D3 elastomers. I rode my Volkl for 2 seasons. I rode it quite hard. While it does appear that the camber seems less in the tip area, the board rides just fine. (I think a few bad ass nose stuffs may have a little to do with that). The Monocarver is a metal top board. As far as the overhang I would'nt worry about it. Unless you can eurocarve on it you will never notice it. On my Donek I bought the Catek Plexiglass plates. The plates seem to "slow down" the arching of the board. Truth be known I feel that the damage we hear about has more to do with the conditions than anything else. Stuffing the nose, plow berms, sitzmarks, etc... Altho I'm not an expert Skwal rider I can't imagine a better binding for a Skwal. The seemingly infinite cant/lift adjustments allow one to ride any board to it's/your full potential. To sum up... If you want to run the OS-2's, and are worried... then run the plexi plates. Don Feed the addiction..

    Monoski?

I have converted over a dozen Alpine boards to Mono. Only one or two worked well. The flex pattern as well as the core profile is different so it doesn't/won't flex properly. An Asym won't work period. I'm currently working with Sean @ Donek to design/develop a "plate" that will allow virtually any Alpine board to be ridden Mono. Test results will be in 6 weeks or so. For those who wonder what Mono is doing here... I can carve turn for turn on my Mono as Alpine riders do. Ask the LCI. It's all about the trench no matter what makes it... Don Feed the addiction...
  24. I'm coming up tomorrow, (saturday), to ride Snow King for a few hours. Coming up on Sunday afternoon to stay for a couple of days. Prolly riding with a friend from England at Jackson Hole. We'll be on Mono's. In case you're curious come out and play with us... Don Feed the addiction...
