  1. Hey guys- I was supposed to try to ride with you this week but since my dad shattered his elbow now i have to figure out how to move all of my **** in now before leaving (to a room that is officially closed at this time) .... there is a slight chance i might be able to do Saturday night though
  2. Hehe- I would have enjoyed it I am sure. Instead I hung out at my house after watching the Stratton festivities with my best friend and little sister and watched Boston Legal until two in the morning. Got ready for bed when my friend told me my dad needed help getting up and fell on the ice we all mentioned (you know, the whole it rained and then froze bit). Today I spent most of the day in the hospital with him- he shattered his elbow- at least five pieces- and he is going to need a plate. F ing A
  3. This is lovely guys So should we make it mandatory for all people considering the sport to look at this thread?

    Stratton

I dont recommend it- I just parked and walked around with my friend from Peru to show him what a ski resort was like... packed... so many people. My friend is teaching tomorrow and was up today- so if you do go, her recommendation was to stay up top where they are blowing snow. Ski patrol was busy and apparently the mountains have been overflowing to hospitals.
  5. THIS IS A MAN'S WORLD!! Why thank you for reminding us James, sometimes we forget. Hahah OK- so here is my favorite piece with James Brown- and Clive Owen- and Gary Oldman...and if you like cars you will love this!!
  6. My car is a 2000 and has 80k miles on it (most from after I got it in Sep 2003). I've had to replace the battery once and that is it- out of everything... Unless you count that time I did 8k damage by broad-siding a cement horse feeder and fence in a ditch, and that time some dodge ram rear ended me on the freeway, and that time my *ex* sided it into a snow bank because he was being irresponsible with driving it and driving too fast on an icy road- driving priviledges revoked immediately. My car is all fixed up- and still very beautiful and without remnants of the first two accidents. Other than that^ I've only done tires and battery. I've also taken very good care of it in terms of keeping it clean for rust, and maintaining the scheduled check ups. PHOTOS: whole car shot when I got it bumper shot of the license plate imprint from when i got rear ended even dogs fit!!
  7. Does anyone have that movie where this snowboarder (regular) is snowboarding along the top of some hill or something and just takes a leap and it looks like he ends up flying for fifty or a hundred feet. The then starts flapping his arms rapidly and just kind of sinks into the snow and disappears when he finally lands? It was a short clip (maybe a minute) but hilarious and I'd like to get the link. Thanks!
  8. (Paul K- my current Subie is a 2.5RS (2000 rbp sedan) and this summer I put a new sound system in as well as seats in the front- LOVE THAT CAR!!!!!!) Every guy I know who knows anything about cars wants to drive it/have it .. actually this one kid who drives pro in rally said it was his dream car. I have to admit too- I have some nice tires on this baby specifically for snow and ice and it handles great in the winter- I only had a problem after a 2ft dump in south lake tahoe when 4wd trucks were sliding out in front of me-- so it really had nothing to do with the car. The turbo for the WRX is a very very very fun car to drive however its way more expensive, and requires premium fuel. If you don't like that, don't test drive it because I guarantee you that you will fall in love with it. I should also mention I have never driven a Mazda (but I love the way they look)
  9. There's the Impreza Sport which is a hatchback and I believe one or both of the rear seats fold down- great for gear and dogs.
  10. Id hazard a guess that Mt Rose is half an hour from the Airport or less... if you go the other direction you can hit Northstar and Alpine within an hour. Heavenly was around an hour and a half or two.
  11. I can tell Bob was trying to turn me on to Gleb's super hot legs by giving me this link I'm going to try boarding with you guys soon... although I need to wait for my knee to heal from when I ****ed it up snowboarding in the French Alps on Saturday.
  12. Did anyone else hear about Stratton, their water pump, and the dead moose calf?? I wanna know if what my Dad said was true (he lives twenty minutes away) about it basically exploding.
  13. I honestly don't know whats been happening- probably just because I only look at OT- however, given my past experience with this thread and D-sub I don't think it needs more moderation. People should just be mature enough to bring discussions to a private forum once they are no longer appropriate in public. Ummm... also knowing how some people can say things that are incredibly judgemental and hurtful, I would hope that these people learn to at least self-censor after antagonizing so many people repeatedly. Cooling-off before feeding into it is also highly advised. I'm not in favor of the "its-the-internet, its-fake" approach as I feel that this forum actually is more human than others. People who may hide behind this argument may simply be avoiding responsibility for their own actions by demeaning them. I don't care how far removed you are from someone, whether it be through a computer screen, prison bars , or an acquaintance, you still shouldn't use the distance as an excuse to be an a**hole.
  14. No clue how much Redbull is in the States - I never drank it there But here in switzerland: 1 swiss franc for Budget's "Energy Drink" which tastes, smells and seems like RB just in a green Migros can. That's maybe 70 cents or something.
  15. Broccoli according to my friend who's dad is a world famous cancer doctor person- causes cancer... but so does everything else. (Affirming above point) If you guys are interested in the US culture regarding soda... you might want to keep an eye out on Redbull... more and more people are using it instead of coffee.. I've even started resorting to it when I can't get my Chai (which in Geneva is very difficult to do).
  16. This one might be a bit pre-mature but you can e-mail it out on the 26th if you would like ****************************************************** Dear Santa, You must be surprised that I'm writing to you today, the 26th of December. Well, I would very much like to clear up certain things that have occurred since the beginning of the month, when, filled with illusion, I wrote you my first letter. I asked for a bicycle, an electric train set, a pair of roller blades, and a football kit. I destroyed my brain studying the whole year. Not only was I first in my class, but I had the best grades in the whole school. I'm not going to lie to you Santa, there was no-one in my entire neighborhood that behaved better than me, including my parents, brothers, sister, and the neighbors. I would go on errands and even help the elderly across the road. There was nothing within reach that I would not do for humanity. What balls have you leaving me a ****ing yo-yo, a lame whistle, and a pair of freakishly ugly socks? What the **** were you thinking, you fat prick, that you've taken me for a sucker the whole ****ing year to come out with this **** under the tree. As if you hadn't ****ed me enough, you gave that little cock across the road so many toys that he can't even walk into his house. Don't let me see you trying to fit your fat ass down my chimney next year. I'll **** you up. I'll throw rocks at those stupid reindeer and scare them away so you'll have to walk back to the ****in North Pole, just like what I have to do now since you didn't bring me that ****ing bike. **** YOU SANTA! Next year you'll find out just how bad I can be, you FAT PRICK! Sincerely, Little Johnny **********************************************************
  17. The one time I ever baby sat in my life some JH's came over and they were around my age and probably went to the local high school. I basically flirted with them to the point of making them feel uncomfortable. I had additionally been taking a course at the local junior college on comparative religion so I also got to share my views and talk about similarities, differences and then try to convert. They were cute A friend of mine would go through this routine: They knock on the door, he opens, they ask where his dad is In the shower mom? In the shower with him Ask if he has time I actually need to go shower too, sorry, bye My family would prank people calling our house by picking up the phone and answering with "Birkenstock Shoe Department" (we live in the country), "xyz Police Station", "Maternity Ward" etc. Our friends caught on fairly quickly and it would just confuse the telemarketers.
  18. I actually liked this movie more than the recent ones-I didn't find him as attractive and kinda thought he was a bit oafish, but thats more like what a spy should be- he shouldnt be so attractive that everyone notices. I agree with the statements about it being nice that he got the **** kicked out of him- that was great, and I loved the cars too. I also liked the fact that he didnt sleep with every woman around- i think there were only two- and I liked that the girl was all that strong- she cried after seeing the guy killed

    Kites

That looks awesome!!!!!!!! I really wanted to train horses to do cool stunts, especially back when I still had mine. I know, this one has a rider- but that would have been a lot of fun to try--- too bad Sonoma County doesn't get that much snow
  20. While I like the fact that many Audi's come in AWD- I am still a BMW girl And since I am opinionated on car aesthetics, I don't really think this one is all that attractive. I don't get the point of having another section of the car that looks different. It reminds me of the people in my old town who would grow up, F up their car, and get a new part for the body that was taken off another car- so it would either be in Primer, or some other mismatching color.
  21. Dan, you guys ARE still getting married right?????? Will you continue to only see each other on weekends?? You could have a huge house or something and then that way you can see each other rarely, and visit on the weekends.
  22. I was in PRAGUE last weekend and now I want to live there. It is a really good place to go for just walking around and being in the bustle of people- you can stay in the old town area with all the tourists, or go to the more government center/non-touristy shop area and just chill with locals. Money goes a long way there ($125 for the taxi to and from the airport, the hostel, two really nice meals and expensive restaurants, souvenirs including a hat, breakfast, and shots of absynthe). I am currently looking at teaching english options there so that I can move once I graduate from college. The age range is very diverse, many restaurants in the touristy areas know english/have english on their menus, people are friendly, and it is not JUST a place for tourists. NORDERNEY is my favorite place to spend a summer and I doub't any Americans know about it. It is a small island in northern Germany in the North Sea (there is a small band of islands and any would really do- Norderney is just the one I have experience with). It is an island for the cure. This means that there are many older people who go there and spend time there. They constantly have free concerts at the cure centers (full orchestras and symphonies). The island is also so small that you can literally walk to the downtown area (which is only three blocks away from the beach), to the beach, to three or four beautiful parks. You can rent go-carts there and just drive all around the city. There aren't that many cars there as it requires a permit and you can walk or bicycle (lots of rentals available) anywhere on the island. They also have a nightlife with bars (maybe clubs- I honestly don't know). They will have some of the best ice cream you have ever tasted, and AMAZING french fries plus all the other regular german meals. E-mail me for more info on that place. They have really nice beaches with a promenade that is paved and smooth (I would rollerblade six hours every day during the summer). They also have windsurfing lessons (windsurfing competitions are held there). This one summer while I was there for a week I experienced a marathon, potato festival (potato pancakes, different kinds of potatos, and competitions for becoming the potato king and queen), and a kite festival in which we broke the world record for the number of kites (they also had these kites they flew at night that were lit up and looked like bats) SOUTHERN FRANCE is the place to go if you want (Northern) Californian weather. The food is great but it is also fairly expensive there. I learned to love goat cheese there. If you stay at places by the Mediterranean they have some cities that teach kite-surfing which would be pretty cool. The problem with southern france is that I (and possibly you) would get bored of the small town I was in for a while and then every place worth seeing is hours away. We spent hours driving to various caves with stalagmites, stalagtites, canyons, stonehenges, and other natural phenomena. The good news is they have an abundance of cute little towns to visit so it is a good place to be if you want to hang out and be a local and are also willing to drive very far. If you want to know where some of those places are let me know and I can look it up once I get back to the states or try to research it. I do remember this one little village that we drove to and stopped at (after looking at the stonehenges) and they had this little stream that ran through it. It kept on cutting down into the ground until eventually it just became this deep canyon slicing through the town and completely separating one section. You could see parts of houses or the road that just fell to the bottom- that was really cool. If you wanna go skiing you could go to Chile- all my latin american friends say that is the best place to go. They also oddly enough have german communities there. I've never been to Italy. This weekend I am going to Barcelona and next weekend will be Amsterdam and I will let you know what I think of those two. Good luck
  23. HA!!! I AM a skier... naw- I'll ride with you if you can give me soft yet firm cords
  24. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOB!!! ( I think its your birthday?) Maybe someday we will finally meet and get to go snowboarding or something! I send you mental swiss chocolate (Lindt actually)- can you taste it??
