  1. Goodyear Assurance 205/55R16 M+S!!!! I LOVE THESE!! and I know I am a girl and stuff but I DID do some research and when I bought them they had an 80k mile warantee thing. They've also got a triple-tred pattern for ice rain and snow and they have done absolutely wonderful on my 2.5RS (Subaru Impreza)... unfortunately they did not keep my ex from banking the car into snow but he is also now my ex.... they also didn't help when my brakes froze up, but its ok, I didn't hit the car in front of me, and when I did that 270 in the middle of an intersection is S. Lake Tahoe? No problem!!! Seriously though, these are awesome tires and the only time I've ever needed to put chains on was when I would watch 4wd trucks also slide out on the road in front of me so I wasn't alone!! ..that wasn't serious Sorry I got excited about my tires.. they grip the road, I feel safe with them and trust them, and have never had a problem (other than the above which involved poor judgement or other) with them. I do a lot of snow driving for ski team and pleasure weekends and visiting my Dad in Vermont. They tred pattern is also pretty and cool to space out at for a while.
  2. I don't have any noise cancelling earbuds - I just have regular earbuds (Sony's that were like fifty bucks or something) and honestly, I can't hear a single thing when I've got them in and am listening to music quietly. I can sit in a room and do work and my boss can try talking to me (which she has) and I won't even flinch its effing AWESOME. I love them and they are comfy and I have used them on airplanes AND the tram in geneva when the musicians come on and play music... right there.. three feet away.. with accordians or fidels and stuff Noise cancelling stuff actually kind of annoys me because it just sounds like static to me (and yes, I have experienced Bose and other GOOD noise cancelling headphones).
  3. I'll definitely be posting on the RideBoard as well as Tahoecarvers when I make it up. Last Spring break I met up with a whole bunch of people at Kirkwood and it was absolutely awesome! I got a lot better and hope to continue that improvement streak. See you in a few
  4. *Observation Fixed* OMFG I CANT WAIT TO GO SNOWBOARDING!!!!! Sorry--- I have six more weekends here and they are all booked except for the last one- so I will have ONE day to drive to some mountain with my board, snowboard, come back, drop off the rental car, and make it to our good-bye dinner at 8. Life is tough. On a lighter note- ski team only has five weekends this year :-) which gives me one more than last time, AND I am going to RENO (which is where my Mom now lives) in February. *sigh*
  5. Yesterday I took the train to Lucerne in Switzerland because my friend has been dying to go dancing and they had lindi-hop (or whatever) there. The international winner guy at some point in time also showed up and I took a beginners crash course taught by some other people in swiss-german (so I barely understood anything even though im fluent in hoch-deutsch). Needless to say, I am not a dancer. I thought of you guys and realized that I would absolutely love going to a snowboard get-together and would totally feel more comfortable. So yeah... I miss you :-)
  6. Bob did you get a ticket??? PS- I've only gone to rocky horror shows twice at my school (friends with half the kids that put it on) ... cast parties, as always, are amazing. I also tend to be one of the most dressed people there. I WANT PICTURES!!!!
  7. haha.. I don't get hangovers or sick ... This may be because I stop at that happy place and just do water from then on or just due to genetics (both of my parents dont get sick or hungover). I am also an incredible lightweight :-) 3 shots and I'm pretty happy
  8. So.... I got rejected by the first non-governmental organization that my application was sent to: the Association on the Prevention of Torture people. Then Aline (the EUSA lady who coordinates all of our internships) sent it off to another organization and I got an email from them saying they would interview me the next day (Wednesday) or Thursday. I accepted for Wednesday and after class went straight back to the Cenacle and wore my new suit that we bought :-) (got plenty of compliments from the people in the hall) and ran off. I got there half an hour early to give me time to find the place and definitely needed it because the road was difficult to confirm. The organization is called the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom and they are the oldest international women's organization in the world. The building is located accross from one of the United Nations buildings and their office has a view of the actual United Nations (the actual postcard version with the flags), Lake Geneva and a park. There are about four main people working there (two supervisors and two interns) and they are in charge of the international office so they are in charge of the website and also of informing the offices all around the world (countries all over Latin America, Asia, Africa, etc). They also have "observational" status at the UN meaning that they can go to the meetings and sit in, which not that many international organizations have. My job, would be to go to the third session of the Human Rights Council held in the end of November and sit there with all the other organization representatives and diplomats etc. and listen to the country leaders and take notes, and analyze the sessions and write up reports on how this would affect women and children etc. This information that I would be writing and preparing would then be published on the website and used by the organization's branches all over the world. I got the job. :-D Love you all!!! and yeah, so now when you see it on the news or something in November on what the Human Rights Council said or what one leader called another and you see the building or even the inside of the council, you can be like- yeah, Tonja is sitting in that building in that same room with those guys. OH MY ****ING GOD THIS IS SO CRAZY haha, I cant believe this is happening for me- this will probably be a massive life changing experience..
  9. not me babe! I am in Geneva right now and hungry! its like nearly three and ive had some stuff to drink. tomorrow i get to go hiking and... yeah :-) happy new year
  10. I .... like your friends. Ps- I'm actually going to try harder to make it to Wachusett on Wednesdays this spring. I'm hoping that by then I will feel more secure on ice.
  11. The picture was taken by a student enrolled in the same program last year. The perks: University de Geneve (or whatever its called) has bus trips that leave every saturday morning to go to a different mountain for the cheapest fare. Totally awesome.
  12. Here is a pic my Program Director in Geneva sent me as soon as she found out I was bringing my board. :-D
  13. I'm doing study abroad in Geneva this semester and I am ONLY bringing my board (not my skis). I will be there until Dec 18th then I've got about two weeks break until ski team starts out here in Vermont. Soooooooooo STOKED! Come visit!!!
  14. too bad my mom moved to reno two days ago :p she is totally awesome too
  15. Mine: half Australian Sheperd and half Akita (insanely smart)- the problem is that the Akita half isnt the friendliest towards other dogs- he basically tried to kill them on sight- you could probably fix it with good socializing. Everyone loves him though. The white one: white west highland terrier purebred. she has cost several thousand on medical bills (probably because she is purebred) and she isn't the smartest, but still incredibly cute and playful. she is allergic to cats, grass and maple trees i only made the comment on short hair because for the last twelve years i was living at home i always had hair on my clothes. the girl in the pic isn't me- my sister
  16. boxer or rottweiler or something they have short hair and won't shed german shepards get hip dysplasia which sucks to watch
  17. I tried breaking up with one of my ex's several times and failed (got convinced to stay back in). The reason why he is my ex: he hurt me enough so that I could not get over feeling bitter or hurt by him as soon as it got rough when we were together. Since I am young, after getting out of that one (and therapy), I've realized that this guy was quite the jerk. there is a good reason for an ex being an ex On a light note... I MET THIS TOTALLY INCREDIBLY SUPER COOL AWESOME GUY that I am totally psyched about and I think he is a better skier than I am. Lucky for me, being an alpine boarder in addition to a skier qualifies you for undeniable style and coolness points :D
  18. A story about a fly, a fish, a bear, a hunter, a mouse and a cat. There is a moral to this story, but not exactly the one most of us are expecting! In the dead of summer a fly was resting on a leaf beside a lake. The hot, dry fly who said, to no one in particular, "Gosh... if I go down three inches, I will feel the mist from the water and I will be refreshed." There was a fish in the water thinking, "Gosh... if that fly goes down three inches, I can eat him." There was a bear on the shore thinking, "Gosh... if that fly goes down three inches that fish will jump for the fly... and I will grab him!" It also happened that a hunter was farther up the bank of the lake preparing to eat a cheese sandwich... "Gosh," he thought, "if that fly goes down three inches... and that fish leaps for it... that bear will expose himself and grab for the fish. "I'll shoot the bear and have a proper lunch." Now, you probably think this is enough activity on one bank of a lake, but I can tell you there's more... A wee mouse by the hunter's foot was thinking, "Gosh if that fly goes down three inches... and that fish jumps for that fly... and that bear grabs for that fish... the dumb hunter will shoot the bear and drop his cheese sandwich." A cat lurking in the bushes took in this scene and thought (as was fashionable to do on the banks of this particular lake around lunch time), "Gosh... if that fly goes down three inches... and that fish jumps for that fly... and that bear grabs for that fish and that hunter shoots that bear... and that mouse makes off with the cheese sandwich... then I can have mouse for lunch." The poor fly is finally so hot and so dry that he heads down for the cooling mist of the water. The fish swallows the fly... The bear grabs the fish... The hunter shoots the bear... The mouse grabs the cheese sandwich... The cat jumps for the mouse... The mouse ducks... The cat falls into the water and drowns. The moral of the story is: Whenever a fly goes down three inches, somewhere there's a pussy in serious danger.
