  1. For Dan: Quite frankly, I am not into shoes or scarves for that matter that look like dead crows. The girls are beautiful. Swedes are beautiful. I don't really know enough about boards to comment on the stick. So why are so many of the racing women so georgious?
  2. Love the profile pic. You know life is good when guys want to be boy toys . At my college there aren't any: they just want long term relationships. Very backwards.
  3. Dan, you already offered to carry my bags if I go to Australia so I think you are already on your way :p
  4. Or you could just get really rich and buy yourself a newer and younger wife when the current one starts to sag a bit. (And in my case, several years ago when I was planning on being a hotel tycoon I was just going to have multiple boy toys- you know, from exotic places)
  5. When I was 14, I hoped that one day I would have a girlfriend. When I was 16 I got a girlfriend, but there was no passion, so I decided I needed a passionate girl with a zest for life. In college I dated a passionate girl, but she was too emotional. Everything was an emergency; she was a drama queen, cried all the time and threatened suicide. So I decided I needed a girl with stability. When I was 25 I found a very stable girl but she was boring. She was totally predictable and never got excited about anything. Life became so dull that I decided that I needed a girl with some excitement. When I was 28 I found an exciting girl, but I couldn't keep up with her. She rushed from one thing to another, never settling on anything. She did mad impetuous things and made me miserable as often as happy. She was great fun initially and very energetic, but directionless. So I decided to find a girl with some real ambition. When I turned 31, I found a smart ambitious girl with her feet planted firmly on the ground and married her. She was so ambitious that she divorced me and took everything I owned. I am now older and wiser, and am looking for a girl with big tits.
  6. I personally like multiple sticks as well. You get to choose based upon the mood and how aggressive you really want to be.
  7. I will probably be at Okemo on Friday if you feel like hopping to a different mountain. :D
  8. Hehe. I had such a hard time at Okemo today!!!! It probably would have worked a lot better on a soft boot set up. I ended up doing a lot of "snowboarding" on my alpine board. Oh well. Went to Starting Gate and got my boots adjusted. Hopefully- after three seasons of adjusting they will finally be pain free next Friday when I go again (probably Okemo again). Yesterday at Stratton I was on my twin tip skis. If you saw me I was probably sitting around on one of the green runs waiting for my dad to get down. He fell three times on that run and at the end of it decided he was done and getting older. Poor guy. I decided not to brave the snow by myself and hang out and have some father-daughter time. Not a waste.
  9. She She She She- I Am A Girl Not A Guy!!! Argh The fact that I am a girl may account for me noticing the shoes on the first look?
  10. I went to Okemo today and most of it was not groomed so the runs basically consisted of eight inches of fresh snow on top of whatever they had earlier. I wish I would have had a soft board for those conditions since I did not get that much carving in because of the bumps. I know the good guys would probably have fared better- but I am just not there yet. :(
  11. I like green shoes. How on earth did this thread get soo off topic?
  12. Here is a link to something I wrote about boot fitting. http://www.bomberonline.com/VBulletin/showthread.php?t=8319 Good luck!
  13. Note on the weather: It should be awesome!!!!!!! I went to Stratton today and we got about 8 inches of snow. This of course isn't the greatest for the board since none of it was groomed- but I got to flitz around on my twin tips. I'll be at Okemo tomorrow. Say hi!!
  14. So far I have left a path of destruction behind me as far as dating is concerned. After "hanging out" with a few guys at school (and by hanging out I mean hanging out and going fun places and having wonderful convos) I kept on getting these guys interested in me AND looking for long term relationships!!! What is wrong with them??? This is college right? You aren't supposed to be after a long term relationship in college!!! After they get attached I naturally leave them alone- don't want to cause more pain by staying around and continuing to make them feel special. After the third guy I officially took myself out of the dating pool and starting giving disclaimers (which I had actually done with the first three anyway- you know the whole, "oh I just got out of a bad relationship" thing). My disclaimers now include the bad relationship, out of the dating pool and sex drive of a nun. Not saying all of them are true but atleast it doesn't lead to raised expectations and I don't have to disappoint people. So thats my gig. Maybe I will get into a relationship next year. But for now... life is fun
  15. I don't listen to music because I like hearing the sound of my edges (like I like hearing my tires on the road: i have discovered TWO BOLTS that way in my tire before driving a full thirty feet!!!). However, If I were to ride with music it would probably be something like Enya, the Gladiator soundtrack, or the American Beauty soundtrack. :-) Not a typical college student.
  16. Hey all, I will be at Okemo friday and saturday (after my first final). This would be 12/16 and 12/17. As you can see in my avatar- I wear a bright orange jacket, silver helmet, orange goggles, and ride goofy on my PJ. It will be blizzarding so... I don't know how many people will actually show. Would love to bump into somebody though!! ~Tonja
  17. I work at a ski warehouse and have been learning how to bootfit people. I would highly highly recommend trying the boots out if at all possible from somebody who already has them. You never know how your foot will fit in it and your foot might simply not be the right shape for the boots. If you can't do this however, it seems like you could buy them, wear them and return them as long as you don't do the hot-mold??? Here are some things to check for: When you first put your foot in the boot, knock your heel to the ground while sitting down. This will push your foot back into the heel cup because no matter what you will probably feel your toes at the end of the boot if you go straight in right away. Once you have knocked your foot back, buckle it up loosely on the bottom two buckles (these really don't serve too much of a purpose- the big key here is to make sure you don't buckle the second buckle (from the toes) too tight because this will push your foot down and flatten your arch. For the first half hour or three quarters of an hour you will feel fine but then you will start hurting a lot and getting tired. Buckle up the top buckles and push your leg forward and lean your shin against the front several times. This will also pull your leg back into the proper riding position. If your toes are pushing against the front at this point the boot is probably too small. If they are touching the front though, without pressure it is acceptible. Three other spots to consider: You want to make sure your calf isn't being pinched anywhere- you may want to play around with socks for this and see if you could get rid of any pinching. Another spot to consider is the ball of your foot. Watch it when you stand up and lean forward: it gets wider. Make sure the boot isn't too tight around the ball and is allowing it too widen when you lean forward. The third point is right around the ankle. Many times the boot may have a pressure point right there. You can usually see this when you flex forward: the plastic of the boot shell pulls out a bit. Many of these issues, if minor, could probably be taken care of when you hot-mold them. These are just the pressure points and "foot particularities" I have learned about in fitting people and trying on a lot of boots in the store when business is slow. Good luck!!!!
  18. I'm still on the 5.3- I love it. Maybe next season I will check out the syms
  19. Should be fairly slanted in this community but I am interested anyway
  20. I am a firm believer in the ability to be assertive and diplomatic at the same time without pissing anybody off (having been the oldest child during a divorce I was often the messenger and had to "reword" things). Most teenagers will have no problem backing up or giving you more space if you ask them niceley. As a matter of fact, most people in the United States wouldn't mind. The only time and place it might be an issue would be in a culture where there is no line and its a free for all (Europe perhaps). Bu cute and charming
  21. So for somebody still in college would you recommend.... 1: After graduation become a snow bum for several years, follow the winters (ie go south of the equator in summer) with the risk that I may never step out of snow bumming and get a "real" job 2: get a job as a means to an end. IE one that pays enough to go skiing and snowboarding but may not have as flexible days for powder and midweek skiing and carving.
  22. Singles line or getting towards the front and joining a group that needs a single. Also while in line if you can, instead of laying the board flat on the ground you can stand with it on the toe edge. that way people won't be able to get their gear on it.. plus it looks intimidating having a flat edge pointing up like that.
  23. i enjoyed minutes 2 through 6 and 16 through 18. Completely agree with you on the outfits. As a minority athlete I have to have respect for them... I don't believe the body is meant to stand like that naturally... I can't even walk a straight line normally- much less would I be capable of standing on one of those bent like that. Does it promote bad posture?
  24. I would love to go... but I will be in california at Tahoe up until the seventh at which time I am flying back to boston to meet up with the Brandeis ski team and go into training on the 8th. Coincidentally my Dad lives 15 minutes away from Stratton. Bummer.
