  1. It sounds like I'm out of luck I guess: don't like cooking.. but there are trade offs. I actually enjoy doing the dishes so maybe that balances it out a bit. In my longest relationship he cooked a lot and every now and then I would cook. We were both appreciated immensely by the other for their contribution. This statement will probably be negated, but I feel that if cooking becomes an expectation a certain degree of appreciation gets lost.
  2. Or you could learn the more difficult way: buy a board, get some people to set up the bindings, and then find out four years later that they reversed the cants and it actually isn't supposed to feel like you are going to pop out your hip. good luck with learning!!!! and don't do it allone- or you could waste four years or you could just be smarter than me!
  3. Skatha!!!! I'm sorry that's crap!!! Now you and your husband can be damaged together though... and hopefully you will survive.. my vote is for take-out.
  4. I've been talking to various people about my next board and was told that a Madd might be too stiff for me because I'm lightweight (120-) and I've got mondo 23 boots and I'll be riding on the east coast. Sooo... if you guys all tried a 158 is there anything smaller than that?? Would it still be too stiff? I'm not that good but I am good at getting good.
  5. Ride The Edge especially when they had the spoofs. Rip It cracked me up and I also liked The Anniversary. Gosh, you guys are sooo good!!! How long is it going to take until I look like that?
  6. I love halloween!!!! It's my favorite "holiday" during the entire year!!! Big fan of costume races too. nooo idea what I'm going to be next year though. I mean, while I do start actively planning and thinking about it in the beginning of summer already, you guys are way ahead of me. :-P
  7. Hi.. I'm looking for a Silberpfeil. I didn't see the specs on their website but I would need something between 152 and 160 with a width between 17 and 19. Does anyone know how much they run in the first place? Thanks, Tonja
  8. Or you could get lucky and she's got just as much or more gear than you've got. It doesn't even have to be the same sport. Thats the beauty of dedicated athletes: they spend a lot of money on gear and respect it when others do the same for their sports. Many people just don't get that. Good luck Dan.
  9. Skiing in nor cal slush was the only thing that made me not look like a fool when racing gs and sl on skis in the east during the rain. I think its also why the snow chicks in nor cal look soooo tan!!! :-) Not here.
  10. I know this is a bit late but I posted it the topic in my own forum to get responses from my male friends who then battled out the discussion. Anyway.... I would imagine that the guys that cuddle after sex are more likely to be in stable relationships than the ones that still need to leave. I don't know if it is true, but its what I've experienced with my ex's and male friends.
  11. What kind of board?? I'm in the market for something that won't kill me on ice.
  12. Alright come on... They just like bringing it up in class. Don't be so judgemental. There are anthropological studies out there regarding how citizens stay in touch with the politics of their nation. We looked at the case of Chile when their socialist government was overthrown (or bombed) and then a military regime was put in place. The people were so traumatized that the particepation of people in voting (which had previously been in the 90% range) dropped to I think around 60%. The entire culture shifted to consumer values radically, partially aided by the neo-mercantilist government. People stopped focusing on politics and started focusing on products. Only recently, with the new government, have they started getting out of their slump again and started being more politically active. (The article is called McChile or something like that) Kudos to the woman in charge btw. A theory regarding the United States is that we need to somehow appeal to the citizenry by creating political parody in order for us to be interesting in politics. If professors talk about a joke from The Daily Show (mind you these are highly respected professors in the academic world) they are merely appealing to the masses. It is not like they use it as a base for their argument: thats what scholarly journals and even their own personal research is for. However, there is nothing against making a reference to The Daily Show or any other show that many students may have seen in order to bring the topic back home. I am sorry that we aren't all Germans and don't all listen to the talk shows between their politicians and various experts or read Die Spiegel. The United States is known for being politically apathetic in the international world.
  13. I'll be at kirkwood the week of april 17th. goofy burton pj5.3- pretty easy to spot. orange goggles and maybe an orange jacket. drop me a line if you're gonna be there!!!
  14. I love that show!!!! I have found that in the academic world I've been in the Daily Show is the most often cited show from professors (both coasts). Both of them are awesome.
  15. The weather HAS been awesome here!!! I actually did wear skirts and lie out in the sun for a bit and stuff. I did get caught in the middle of the rain today though. Oh well. In two weeks im going to Tahoe to Kirkwood. So in California, compared to our sunny days in Boston, they've been having mudslides in my region. 3.5 million dollar homes down the hill. Damn.. Oh well, can't wait to get back home.
  16. The fire alarm is going off in my room. I dont feel inclined to leave.. Ugh how annoying.
  17. I like what Gecko has. Sorry I haven't been doing anything online here.
  18. Awesome!! My ski team coach has the same kind of car and actively rallies. It is sooo effed up its crazy! Amazing what you can do to them. A wagon would have been nice for all the gear or even just a rear seat that folds down. He said that roofracks get noisy. :-( bummer
  19. I ski and ride. Although... this season I've only gotten in two days on my board because 1- im scared of the eastern conditions and hurting my ass and 2- i've been racing slalom and gs (on skis) every single weekend since january up until two weeks ago (we made it to regionals). I raced in regionals on twin tips (McBrine League is the lowest of the low to get into regionals- we had fun and were obnoxious to the other teams that 1-got funded, 2- had full time coaches, 3- matching gs suits, 4-electronic tuning gear on the top of the mountain. For easter I am going to kirkwood and plan on riding.
  20. Yeah but somebody DID die and I stopped eating and got sick.
  21. Picture number one is my moms 4runner after we hit a deer on 80 coming back from Tahoe. Part of it is still on the car. We were going 80. It was bumpy- good 4WD vehicle. Sad part was the deer had already crossed the other side of the freeway, and we were all the way in the right lane- so close. The second picture is my baby when some guy with a dodge ram rear ended me on the freeway. Luckily it was rush hour. You can see his license plate imprinted into my bumper though. Third is my baby.
  22. Yeah, I feel really hurt actually. Life sucks. My last week (involved a period, a threatening phone call, a disrespectful ex, a boyfriend cheating, getting sick, getting drunk, kissing somebody and hurting them, breaking up with a boyfriend, which brings us to now- not all in that order) has been the worst I've had in my life. It has actually been sooo bad, that I can't even think of it without thinking of it as an ironic joke. EDIT: I forgot to mention that I found out one of my friends from home got hit by a car.
  23. Ummmm... that boyfriend I talked about a while ago.. not there anymore. So yeah, given my recent choices in guys I am thinking that this is problematic and I shouldn't trust myself anymore. If anybody knows young people in my area that don't cheat maybe, that would be good. Oh gosh, I need help getting back on the right track.
  24. Heeheeeee At home in california, we had this volunteer firestation two minutes from my house and the guys would jog past my house in the mornings. I LOVED watching that. All these hot guys
