  1. How close are ski areas to this place? I just lost my contract and my company has some positions up there in Wyoming. There is a outside chance I could be relocating from Albuquerque. Gotta love life as a DoD contractor. :( So what's the boarding like up there? How far are we talking for a commute to the closest ski areas, and what type of quality are we looking at? I'm sure it's better than Alabama (my next option), or Saudi Arabia (my next choice). LOL JPW
  2. Maybe he's talking about CB? I noticed they had a park right in the middle of the Paradise Lift. I believe Ruby Chief paid the price on it's width to accomidate the park. That bit at the top of Ruby Chief was some of the most carve-a-licious terrain I've ever been on!!
  3. I think you have a right to be upset but posting your displeasure on the BOMBER online forum probably wasn't the best idea. Michelle and Fin are gods here, and rightfully so. Bomber Industries does so much for alpine snowboarding. Does Fin or Michelle pay for any beer at SES? I don't think so... I can only assume your original post wasn't very tactful either. Next time pick up the phone and call Michelle and she'll bend over backwords for you. Then you will realize how great the Bomber folks really are and why nobody on this site is going to tolerate any Bomber bad-mouthing. In the meantime you might want to re-register under a different username and lurk a little more. Tons of great info here on alpine snowboarding. It seems like you're trying to apologize and the alpine community has been known to forgive and forget (unless you're name is Kildy or Tinkler).

  5. If you ever come east look me up. The snow here has been crazy!!! I am heading to Angel Fire on Sunday. Today was opening day and 61/70ish runs were opened with 40 RUNS GROOMED! I think this is the best start to winter we've had in a long time!
  6. If you local guys don't meet this guy and steal his boards you are fools! $250 for a 185GS Kessler?!?!? $630 for the almost *brand* new one?!? Unreal!
  7. This shape is unreal. I'd love to try the glass version but it would be a little too redundant for me since I own the metal version. I think mine has more taper or something though...a little "tweak" from Bruce? I can't believe you guys are selling these so cheap! I paid $850 for my 172 AM-T and it would take every bit of that to pry it from my hands. Mike, that 176 must be darn good!
  8. Thanks for the great discussion guys. And thanks for the mods for not locking this thread or whatever...I never thought it was heading in a bad direction?!!? BOL is starting to feel like a true internet forum with technical discussions and differences of opinion. What other forum in any industry has these "big names" having well thought out discussions and sharing their thoughts on technology and designs? We are so blessed here at BOL to have all of these resources at our disposal...and to think a simple trip to Aspen in Feb normally means meeting some of these people face to face and making some turns with world class riders and board builders. Unreal! What other sport has this luxury? Just in this single thread we have: Jack, an excellent technical freecarver whom I personally would love to have 1/2 of his skills. His articles have reached so many and helped shape the image of alpine snowboarding. Without Jack many of us would have been trial and error types looking like posers on a "race setup". Bruce, the guy that built the best board I've ever owned or ridden. Just think this "guy" that we are all chatting with makes some of the best boards on the planet, and he custom built it "just for you". Simply amazing. Sean, aka Mr. Donek, don't think for a second this guy is behind the power curve because he's just not getting into the metal scene. I still cannot wait to try the Razor and see if it can be the board to retire me from hardboots? Why do I have a feeling I'll be leaving SES 09 with a new Donek in my trunk?!?! Phil, the Mr. Miyagi of alpine snowboard racing. Every time he posts I'm all ears and I love the fact that we can get 1st hand feedback on what's hot on the race scene RIGHT NOW. Mr. Tinkie. The man that builds these amazing exotics that are pushing the envelope on what's considered do-able. How are we to evolve without these types of people in our industry? Guys-don't think for a second us lurkers aren't taking notes and enjoying every word of this thread. I think it's great to see people disagree, dispute new ideas, and builders pushing the envelope. If we are not questioning, testing, and developing then we certainly aren't evolving now are we? To think my Coiler 172 AM-T is 2-3 year old technology is just mind boggling because I can't imagine it getting much better than that! One last note to Mr. Tinkie: I personaly DON'T want to demo your board. I don't think I have the self control to say NO when your board blows me away. The same goes for a Virus or any other high end "exotic" board. It was already hard enough justifying ~$900 USD on a custom Coiler for a guy that only rides 25-30 days a season! The WORST thing Tinkler can do is show up to SES with a handful of demo boards. Quite frankly I don't think you could keep up with the demand if you did. Anybody remember the wait time on a Coiler a few years ago?!?! So keep doing what you're doing guys...I'm going to keep reaping the benefits as I carve left, carve right, and repeat (as Mr. JJFluff so eloquently put it). P.S. You should have seen the faces @ Taos this past Sunday when I was railing in HB's on a Lib Magne-Traction on THE BUNNY SLOPE! :)

  10. Already modded my Head SP's with the BTS, but thanks for the feedback! Not sure if this would help or not. I'll wait until SES and let a pro look at my riding before I hack up my boots.
  11. I think I've had this same problem before, but I don't think you need longer screws. Some of the screws are longer than the others as I recall. Check your screws and see if some are longer. Use the longer ones where the extra length is needed. I could be wrong but this is how I remember it when I last installed a set of Intecs.
  12. Anybody tried these mods with a BTS? I have BTS/Yellow and I weigh 170ish. Is a softer flexing boot going to allow you to be a more dynamic rider? I'm plagued by very static riding...granted some of it is downright laziness. :o Would this mod help or perhaps promote a more dynamic technique? Otherwise if you just want a softer HB why not try a different shell or a stiff SB?
  13. Nice board Dave! I'm personally trying to do 100% hardboots this year. Started yesterday @ Taos with HB's on my newly aquired Lib Tech Dark Magne (thanks eastcoasticerider!). I have to say the Lib + F2 Titanflex + Stratos Pros is going to be a great compliment to the 172 AM-T. The Lib exceeded my expectations from a carving standpoint, and I still haven't tried it on an icy day! I'll probably be offloading my other boards soon!
  14. What's wrong with cougars?!?! <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKZ4ZJ49QHc&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKZ4ZJ49QHc&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> That cougar @ 1:00 is quite the catch!
  15. You see them coming from far away so they normally aren't an issue. The guys in the video above seemed to want to press their luck going in between them and such...
  16. There's starting to be more videos of Indian School on You Tube. I can never seem to get great footage because quite frankly it's more fun to ride, but these guys pulled off a nice vid of about 1.5miles of turns: <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSg3CyY3RIo&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSg3CyY3RIo&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> We start a bit further up than these guys started but we always stop at that same spot. It's a perfect run! Then shuttle back up to the top!
  17. A certain BOL member by the name of Tom Palka decided to take a slight detour on his way back from Texas to ride Indian School with me. Tom made a small video and put it on his www.snowycolorado.com site. I know there are numerous longboarders here on BOL and my offer still stands for any BOL'ers: Just get to Albuquerque and I'll guarantee you one of the best times on a skateboard you'll ever have! My PM is always enabled. Thanks Tom for looking me up and taking care of us every time we come up to Salida and Ski Monarch. I hope to see you and Lisa again soon! I'll be at Taos Sunday for a bootfit and to ride the limited terrain they have. Wolf Creek, CO is now 100% open including the Alberta lift and the waterfall area. Perhaps a road trip is in order?!?! Maybe you'll let me demo that pow stick??
  18. This thread is useless without PICS!!!
  19. Ugh...I just bought that Lib Magne Traction too. :( I'd be all over this otherwise. Where were you a week ago?
  20. So if you're dropping in on a Deuce, are you "Dropping a Deuce"?
  21. Welcome back Dave! E-Drama is just not worth it. I have to bite my lip so much. Bomber is childs play compared to some of the other forums I visit. Hope Cali is still treating you well?
  22. Sorry but those four make me want to puke. I think a lot can be said for the Virus topsheets. Show off the materials!!!
  23. I thought this beauty was going back to Shaggy?
