  1. Since when is a 2004 board 12 years old? Sounds like you both have valid complaints IMHO. You guys should try to work it out instead of bashing each other here. $100 isn't much of a loss either way...I woulda just kept the board but that's me.
  2. Bruce Vasara will continue to get my "Freecarving Dollars" since his pricing is ~20-40% cheaper than the competition. Frankly I could care less who is winning the World Cup. It seems all of the board makers are taking notes on what is winning though and that is a good thing.
  3. Great post guys. I haven't read it all but I wanted to thank you guys-especially EnisiWaya-for taking the time to post all of this. I will re-visit this before next season! My daughter is turning four in July and I plan on getting her on skis next season. Also I will be buying some skis as well and it will be my first season on skis too (I downhill skied ONCE before in Pennsylvania somewhere). So this will be great advice for me as well!
  4. Saw a three wheeled motorcycle here last week. Two in front, one in back. It wasn't the Vespa version either... Looked like a lot of fun!!
  5. Auburn Uni Traditional Mathematics Major Engineering Minor Chemistry Minor
  6. I'd like to know how people can do 75+ days a year and still support a family? IT here...since 1997.
  7. Tex why waste your keystrokes? This is an obvious waste of time.
  8. It's not how you start...it's how you finish. Just ask the Pats! :eplus2:
  9. I'll have to agree here-some nice groomed steeps at CB! I have yet to experience anything steeper in NM/CO, but I also missed the Ajax day at SES 06. Carving International was quite good, but it was dust on crust on that side of the mountain so we only hit it a few times. Ruby Chief right off the Paradise lift was epic. Perfect pitch and plenty wide for the 12m+ boards. Actually anything off the Paradise lift was amazing, and the lift itself is the fastest lift I've ever ridden hands down. Now I know the true meaning of "high speed quad". :D
  10. April 6th was the last day for Santa Fe and Taos. As soon as April hits everything turns to mush down here pretty fast. Most other NM resorts closed the week before. Wolfie is nice for late season powder stashes. Not the best place for carving though. I'm usually winding down by the end of March. I try to wrap up the season with a trip to CO which was accomplished last weekend at CB. It's much better to finish a season with decent temps/conditions than to ride the NM slush in early April. A couple seasons back I met up with TPalka and we hit up A-Basin...that was a good way to end the season too. We ran into Monodude as well, and Tom picked up a friend/worker a few miles from the base area that got us discount passes. Good stuff! I'm right at 20 days this year. So that's four straight seasons with 20+ days. Not too bad for a weekend warrior. Next year I might get more days in since my oldest will then be 4 1/2 yrs old. It's time to get her on the snow. I'll probably get a Santa Fe pass which will work at Sandia as well. No way I'm driving 6 hours round trip (Angel Fire/Taos) with a four year old!
  11. Steve P you obviously have never met Billy. On BOL I'll be the first to admit he comes across arrogant and harsh, but if you've actually met him in person and maybe took some turns with him I think you'd feel differently. What's great about BOL is we can converse with some of the top board makers and top riders in the world. If we keep driving them away because of harsh judgement based on impersonal forum postings then I personally don't see any need for the BOL forums. We might as well just have a classified and ride board with zero discussion. The experts here are what keeps this place interesting for me, and we just lost one of the best IMHO.
  12. Sorry to hear this. Summer is coming, and the storage wax is going on my boards this weekend... Perhaps we all could use a break from BOL. The summer/fall months are pretty tense around here anyways. I'll be checking hardbooter.com for your vids. Also I will be posting some carving vids of myself over the next few days. I'll look forward to your feedback on my techique (or lack thereof). You will be missed for sure. :(
  13. 6.5 hours from my house to the base area @ CB. That was through Poncha via 285/50. What an amazing place! I will definately be going back! The Paradise lift has some excellent carving runs. Great pitch!
  14. Tom that board is totally wrecked....guess you're going to have to give it to me! I'm sure it'll patch up right. Getting packed up for the big CB drive right now. I hope the groomers are really busy right now! :D
  15. No Rap\R&B guys? Very groovy when you're boarding! My best friend threw this playlist together on our way up to Taos:
  16. Hey what do you guys know about CR-114? Mapquest is taking me through Salida, but Live Maps takes me via CR-114. It's wierd because it's saying ~ 6 hours which can't be right. It takes me 6 hours to get to Monarch so I assumed it would be further. maps.live.com directions
  17. Just two of us now...my bro-in-law bailed. I know it's 5.5-6 from my front door to Monarch's parking lot...so Sean and I are leaving around midnight Friday night and we'll be driving all night long. Oh well we'll rest up Sat evening and be hitting first chair Sunday, but then we get to drive back Sunday night and get back after midnight. A lot of work so this will be it for me this season... Sorry Tom it's just not going to work out for the following weekend, but I have a feeling we'll be making turns together again next season. ;) NewCarver if you decide to make it out: Five O Five, Three Six Three, Three Eight Two Four
  18. Metal too heavy for you? When I was overseas my wife and I got addicted to Craig David: <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61SwMaHXm98&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61SwMaHXm98&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
  19. You guys should try some Slayer-Seasons in the Abyss. That whole album is amazing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bR56-eDgMw Won't let me embed but there's the title track. Metal always seems to get me pumped and carving...
  20. Four pages of nonsense.... Do you really think the OP read through all this? I personally would have bailed on this site after all this crapola. I can't believe anybody would question Billy Bordy's skills. That's just insane. No wonder Billy doesn't visit BOL as often anymore. Come on people get a clue.
  21. Don't knock new gear. Case and point: I waited till my fourth season to order my first custom. I've been through about seven different boards now including a Burton Speed and a FP 173. Others were a Renn Tiger 173, Axis 167, and a used Coiler PR173. All had their strengths and weaknesses. None have had such a drastic effect as the Coiler AM-T I received in January. Started off this season on my rock/spring carver. It's a Hooger Tuned 163. I actually really like this board. It's a fun ride no doubt. I love the graphics and the tail shape. January rolls around and the AM-T arrives. The Hooger didn't see snow again until this past weekend. The coolest thing is this past weekend during spring conditions I took out the Hooger and railed on the thing. Noticable improvement on both toe and heel. Also my confidence on the freeze-thaw-freeze spring snow was higher than ever. Sure it didn't perform to the Coiler's standard, but it did things I didn't think possible before. I think your riding can improve immensely from buying the latest and greatest custom titanal board. If anything it will inspire confidence and comfort in non-ideal situations which will transfer over to other boards in your quiver. At least that was the case for me. There's absolutely nothing wrong with experimenting with as many boards as your budget can allow when you first start Alpine. Somebody before me mentioned to try as many boards as possible the first few years then fork over the dough for a custom. That's exactly what I did and it seems to have paid off so far. At least for this weekend warrior who gets his 20-25 days a season in... Sadly I'm nowhere near NSR even on the AM-T. That's not a board thing...it's a technique thing (or lack thereof). IMHO having a newer board is good in the sense of I have no excuse for lack of progression. The only thing holding me back at this point is myself. I sure as hell can't blame my equipment anymore.
  22. Hey NewCarver! I might have a buyer for your NOS Arbor there. It sure looks pretty. I don't know much about Arbor boards...is this one of their top models?
  23. Mine have been holding up fine? I'm 5'6" 170lbs. They are the newer yellow ones, but I only have like 20 days on them?
  24. F2's come in 4 hole only. I'm pretty sure you can get 3 holes for the X-Bones. TD1 second gen disks were 3 and 4 hole compatible from what I remember. TD2 you can buy 3 hole disks. Semi-older Catek disks had both 3 and 4 hole mounts on the same disk-which was one of the bigger perks of going Catek IMHO. I was quite dissapointed when the OS2/FR2 abandoned this, but hey at least they got rid of that silly dimpling problem.
