  1. Got my tag today! Nothing like a converted street legal DIRT bike!!!
  2. Nice choice Bob! Dual sport is definately the way to go! I hear that 09 Kawi 250 rips. My KTM 450 EXC Franken-bike has been awesome so far. It rips in the dirt and I've gotten it up to 80mph on the street and it still wanted more. Just put some DOT D606 Dunlops on it yesterday (90% dirt 10% street) and will test those tomorrow. Can't say I was impressed with them at 70mph on the interstate, but I won't be on the interstate that often anyways. Also put a Trail Tech Vapor on mine last week as I needed a Speedo/Odo in NM. Now that I got my DOT tires I'm heading to the DMV on Monday to get the tag. My CBR 1000RR has been quite neglected over the past few weeks.
  3. I have a bamboo pintail and love it. So when you coming down for some ditch riding? You're all invited! The more the merrier so we can shuttle!
  4. I drink at lunch almost every day I snowboard and I ride better than most even after lunch...
  5. I have one I'll sell. Not sure what the current Ebay price is but I'll give ya like $20 off of that. Mine is lightly used. PM via my profile. JPW
  6. Well I decided to take a cheaper alternative to buying anything new and I've went with this: http://cosprings.craigslist.org/mcy/689173892.html Somewhat of a Frankenstein bike, but lots of extras that I don't have to buy which really pays off. It looks well used but the guy just upgraded to a new Katoom 450 SX so this one had to go. Super nice guy on the phone from the Springs... I didn't haggle much as he's meeting me 1/2 way tomorrow morning. That's 6 hours round trip for the both of us so I thought that was worth a hundy or so. He also had more extras not mentioned on his ad like spare radiators and such. Big bonus for me as I'm sure this beast will go down a few times in the near future! ;) He's throwing in the normal clutch too and is going to show me how easy it is to swap it back to normal operation. He currently has the auto clutch installed with a rear brake in place of the clutch lever. He said the foot rear brake still works in addition to the hand lever. Sounds interesting anyways and who knows maybe I'll like it...but it'll be hard to get used to after 10 years of street riding with a normal clutch/brake. I got some extra cash to splurge on some good protective gear. I'm going to splurge on that for sure! My first dirtbike so I'll keep you guys posted. I'll try to snap some better pics too if anybody is interested. Peace
  7. As a IT professional for the past 10+ years I really don't appreciate being generalized like this... So I'm going to assume you're a DC-living smog producing non-hov lane driving wanna-be-polititian bag of douche. Fair is fair... Talk about no life for D-Sub? How bout the time you invested in that thesis reply of yours? I read this post so obviously I have no life-no need to point that out. ;) Somebody make a poll quick and see how much longer this posts continues before it gets locked/deleted. I'd say another hour tops!
  8. I bet D's a great guy IRL. I'm sure this has something to do with his for sale post and the rants he went on about all the views and no sale? That was a bit annoying but hey nobody is forcing you to read his posts. Best of luck in life D-Sub! If you're ever in New Mexico drop me a PM/Email and we'll make some trenches.
  9. Way cool! I'll plan at least one day there next season and hook up with you and David! JPW
  10. Somebody convince me that I don't need this before I drive up to Santa Fe! :p http://albuquerque.craigslist.org/mcy/678905539.html
  11. Hey Mike Just curious why you are selling these? Have a new gameplan, or is the NSR that good? JPW
  12. Kimo I will be making turns with you at SES 2009!!! Get well bruddah!! Things like this really put my "problems" into perspective...
  13. Mats those prices are pretty reasonable for what you are getting. From what I see and hear this has got to be one of the top choices for freecarving. Us weekend warrior freecarving types sure appreciate you getting these boards to us at a better price point. I think Swoard did themselves some favors in working things out with Bomber but I also think they waited way too long. Nils and the EC boys have to be loosing some of it's sales to the titanal craze. Speaking of metal how should we expect this topsheet to hold up on the Metalburner? That would be my biggest concern with my $1300 investment. It seems Prior has now learned it's just better to protect the metal and I'm wondering if Frank is going to follow suit. It seems only logical to protect your investment as best as possible, but it is at the expense of some major eye candy. I don't think my metal Coiler is missing much by having that extra layer and I'm sure Frank will find ways to make his boards look amazing. Speaking of which is there any Virus that just doesn't scream cream of the crop snowboard? I think not....Kudos to Frank! Big Kudos to Mats for these boards! Now where is my metal Donek!!! Or even better my metal Donek Razor!!
  14. The guy has three posts and he originally posted this last year in July. I'm thinking not...
  15. Not to dispute Thor or Bob but you can get a Sims Burner for $300-400 and the Afterburner is going to set you back $1500-2000 USD. I'm just saying that's a MASSIVE difference...
  16. Bad news from the XR400R owner: Back to the drawing board!
  17. Yeah that's what I meant...converted to street legal. Hrmm perhaps I'll go check this one out then. It's much cheaper than new for sure. That WR250R is $6k... It seems the Honda's that end in L are the dual sports, and the R's aren't, so this one jumped out at me. I'll have to email the guy and ensure it's street legal. I didn't see any tags in the pictures so how will I know if it's in fact street legal or not in my state?
  18. Bumper of what? My wife's Accord or my RSX?
  19. It's gotta be streetable. I have no means to get it to the dirt other than riding it. I'll have to look into NM laws but I felt like converting a dirt bike to be street legal wouldn't be worth the effort in the long end as far as money goes. Sure the performance won't be as good but... I just went to sit on the WR250R and it's very tall for a dual sport. Sits as high as most dirt/MX. I'm on my tippy toes but at least I can reach the ground for stoplights/stopsigns. Boy did it feel comfy being upright (compared to my 1000RR). Dude promised me a test drive if I'm ready to buy-typical of any bike sales shop. Perhaps the only thing I didn't like is the radiator and plastic surrounding it on the right side. If the bike goes down that's the first thing that's going to hit and I'm sure the plastic would snap depending on what surface it goes down on. Call me paranoid but I'm sure I'm going to drop this thing eventually... Thanks for the replies thus far. I'm surprised LeeW hasn't chimed in as I know he rides dirt. Since he's a NM native I look forward to his feedback.
  20. Ok guys and gals I'm new to the dirt bike thing. I'm looking for a dual purpose bike as I have no truck, van, or trailer to haul it around with. I'm a huge honda fan (whole garage is Honda/Acura) but outside of the massive 650 they don't have much to offer? I'm going to be honest I haven't even looked yet at KTM, Triumph, or team green. So far I've checked out Honda, Suzuki, and Yamaha. Based on my current research I would purchase the all new , but perhaps you can sway me...So here's your chance to put in your $0.02 based on your real world experience, etc. New Mexico has very similiar terrain to Colorado, Utah, and Arizona for obvious reasons. There are a ton of off road trails here and I've been a fool for not taking advantage of them. Oh yeah I'm 5'6", a buck seventy five, and I have a 30" inseam. I want my dual purpose bike to be more dirt than street because I already have a street bike. I've been riding street for 10 years and I bought my current bike new in 2005 (CBR 1000RR). I have limited experience on the dirt but I have rode a handful of times including a day on a real deal supercross track a few years back. That day ended with me superman'ing over the bars in the woops. :P
  21. More reason for Bomber Heels and Bomber Intec receivers. Please god don't make me go back to standard bails...
  22. C'mon now this board wasn't selling for $50. Post whatever you want it doesn't matter because EVERYBODY is using the same search on Ebay. AKA the raceboarders search @ www.raceboarders.com Tex it isn't your job to police the classifieds. We all know your opinion on this matter. Your theory was shot down before with good reason so I see no point in you forcing it on the community. Sure you are entitled to your opinion but until I see "moderator" under your name or your opinion becoming a rule put into a sticky then you really should keep your opinion to yourself-especially if you are going to be lashing out at others.
  23. Thank you Serge! The Razor is quickly rising on my next season priority list. I owe myself a new board for next season. Hrmm a softie carver or a schtubby? What will complement the AM-T better? :)
