  1. Anybody been to Wolf Creek this year? Looks like they got a 120" base, 252" YTD, and $43 lift to boot. It's only about 4 hours for me, and I'm very interested in meeting up with some CO hardbooters (since there seems to be no BOL'ers in NM). As a first year hardbooter and second year snowboarder I'd love to leech off of some of you oldbies and gain some knowledge! :) Unfortunately SES ain't looking too promising for me or I'd just meet EVERYBODY there... :( Happy railing!
  2. I went through this about 4 weeks ago in my first hardbooting experience. I started with the cant on the rear. That lasted one day. Now it's on the front and hasn't moved since. Since then i've spun it 90 deg counter clockwise and so far I've liked that best. My heelside (regular stance) was way too powerful and would send me in a skid instead of a carve, and so far that has seemed to help keep me in a carve instead of skidding. I'm sure it's lack of technique more than anything though, and is all part of learning. Also spinning that cant has helped me bend my knees more. It was hard to bend my knees at all with the first few setups. The best thing I could tell you is that changes in your stance angles/cant/width/etc are going to feel pretty wierd the first few runs. Definately do at least a 1/2 day or more before you make another change because you might end up liking it after all. I'm still trying to track down a Burton circular 6 deg cant so I can try both front and rear. Hopefully one will show up on Ebay soon enough. I hope you don't get frustrated with Burton's lack of adjustability as I have. If I was better at it I'd spring for TD's or Catek's now but I'd rather wait till next season and see how I progress with the hardboots. Happy carving, and good luck!:)
  3. If so I'd be interested in them. Might be interested in just the 4-holes. If you want to sell them seperately... I need the cant more than anything though.
  4. Hello I am new to hardbooting this season and would be interested in meeting up with any other New Mexico hardbooters out there. It would be nice to get some tips so I don't develop bad technique as well as just meeting other fellow hardbooters in my area. I will be frequenting Angel Fire on Sundays most of this season ($99 Sunday season pass), but I am open to other meeting places. So far this season I have been to Angel Fire, Sandia, Telluride, and Durango. Looks like I am going to Angel Fire tommorow. I am also going to make a effort to get out to this years SES. I live in Albuquerque, NW if you wanna meet up. I look forward to your replies. JPW:cool:
  5. Wow thanks for all the replies. I did not detune the tip and I'll just take my 3 diamond stones with me just incase. Looks like northern New Mexico and SW Colorado are getting pounded right now, so from what I'm understanding the odds are I won't need detuning with those conditions. ;) Can't wait to get on the mountain!
  6. Which boots were those?
  7. I'm prepping my first alpine board for Telluride this weekend. I have a Burton Speed 158 Wide. Should I detune the front edges of the board like I would a non-alpine board? Thanks in advance for your input!:D
  8. Hi do I need 3 holes or 4 to mount bindings to a Burton board? Are Burton boards the only ones that have a triangle shaped pattern instead of the normal "6 dice" hole pattern? Sorry for the newb questions. Thanks in advance.
  9. Again I'm new to carving, so I've never heard of Hooger Alpines....I looked online and didn't see hardly any info on them. I wouldn't even know how much to offer on it since I can't find any info on them. And I would still need bindings... :(
  10. Lo all, New to the carving scene. :D Looking around for a package. So far just seeing pieces on ebay. If anybody has a set of hard boots/board/bindings they want to package up get let me know what the specs are and what you're looking for it. Doesn't have to be brand new but nothing ancient/Asym...I just bought an older 156 F2 Beemer Asym at the Ski Swap not knowing any better, shoulda read up first, but luckily I did not spend much. Here's my specs: 5'6" 155lbs 26cm Foot Length, FYI my foot is wider than normal (10.25cm), so I had to go up a size on my soft boots (I wear size 9-10 shoes normally, depending on the brand). I appreciate your time in helping me out. John
