  1. Never rode on a track. Sure would like to, but the requirements were always very steep from what I heard. Just draining the antifreeze alone was enough to keep me away. I'm not sure if your local tracks make you do this. I shoulda kept my F3 and made it a track/stunt bike! Yes my new bike list is very diverse. I'm really leaning toward the new black R1 with the red pin stripped rims. Have you seen it? Check it out here! JPW
  2. I "crunch down" a whole lot more on my heelside. Just easier for me to bend the knees as opposed to toeside. Oddly enough when I noticed the chatter at it's worse was when I was carving my heelside hard and was really low (for my standards). My body definatly isn't upright on my heelside. Perhaps I'm not describing it correctly, but it's like the nose of the board is bouncing up and down while in a deep carve. It doesn't really affect my carving nor does it blow out my heelside. It's just rough on the legs and doesn't look pretty. JPW
  3. What does nose chatter mean? Lack of technique? I'm getting it alot on my heel side in anything that isn't perfectly groomed. Will it help if I post my board specs? I'm thinking my board is too short? It's a 158 Burton Speed. Thanks in advance for your input. JPW
  4. Since I sold my 600 F3 in Nov. I'll be shopping around for either a new R1, Gixer750, CBR600RR, or CBR1000RR. Decisions Decisions! Other than that; Softball, Vegas Trip in May, was thinking about taking classical Guitar lessons to further my skillz. Oh and most importantly spending a lot of time with my 7 month old daughter :) Oh and hopefully in the near future a trip to the Aspen area to go see Fin and get some new boots and a custom fitting. If there are any left that is! JPW
  5. Just seemed very pushy and making new posts every 2 days or so. Hope you get everything worked out though. JPW:(
  6. Tinypic.com It has been suggested here before, but I've never used it. JPW
  7. Lock this post! It was informative at first but it's turning into a pissing contest.
  8. I just wanted to add that the EC style/turn/whatever you want to classify it as is the only reason I got into hardboots. Whether or not I will get bored with it/move on from it ONCE i've mastered it is yet to be determined. My current goal as a first year hardbooter/second year snowboarder is to be able to do linked EC turns within the next 2-3 seasons. Honestly I think the only thing that's holding me back right now are conditions and equipment. Now maybe this is a n00b mindset of hardbooting, but if it's inspiring people like me to try plates then the community should be all about it. On the flip side I can totally see Bordys point of view of how oldbies have moved on to bigger and better things. Personally this is just recreation for me so I whatever is putting a smile on my face is exactly what I want to be doing. So with this in mind if any of you oldbies have that dusty Swoard laying around and have progressed beyond EC, please PLEASE drop me a line and let me take it off your hands! Happy carving! JPW
  9. I KNOW there's some photographers out there!
  10. Hi I haven't had many chances to experiment with different settings on my DigiSLR (on the slopes), so I'm wondering what settings you all use when shooting on the slopes.... The white snow seems to be the main problem, and fighting shadows depending on the position of the sun. What settings do you use? FYI, I have a Canon Digital Rebel and mainly use the Kit Lens(18-55 EF-S). I am about to purchase a Tamron 28-300 EF, and I have access to a Canon Ultrasonic 75-300mm, and a Sigma 125-500mm (I'd hate to take this one up the mountain though, HUGE!). Also curious how others pack their SLR's up on the mountain....I normally just ride cautious when I'm packing the camera, do all my shooting, and then drop it in the car so I can ride hard the rest of the day. It's a pain as I'm sure I'm missing some of the best light by commiting to just a 1-2 hour window.... Thanks in advance, JPW
  11. What's the waist width? How much was it used exactly? Gawd my wife is gonna kill me!
  12. But 90 deg angles should put the bindings parallel with the length of the board (like a ski binding). 0 Deg should be perpendicular. Perhaps you can visualize what I'm saying better with a softboot setup which behaves the same: Most folks ride ~10 Deg or so in the front and 0 Deg in the back... JPW
  13. Burton Shadow 28.0 MP. Not Intec compatible, but work fine on any bail type bindings. I can send pics if you like. They have been used like 8 times in their life. If you want to buy I can send them out tommorow (if you can pay via paypal). JPW

    Madd Trade

I might be interested in buying one of those. If you want to sell it outright.... JPW
  15. I have Burton MP 28.0 Shadows and some Race plates that are collecting dust. Let me know if you change your mind. JPW
  16. I measured with the trace method and I was 26.5 A trip to a local ski bootfitter showed I was 25.5 Just so you know, there is a pretty significant chance for error using the paper/pencil trace method. But maybe you'll get lucky! JPW
  17. Yes it's a 149. I emailed about this board and the reply came in that it was indeed a 149. Therefore it should go for no more than $50 like the others have been going for. Cheers, JPW

    Spam Policy?

You won't get spam from here. Just automated bomber email responses which I don't consider spam. Well I take that back. You will get spam from D-Sub. Yes that was a joke. JPW:cool:
  19. Is this just an informative post or can us out-of-state folks make offers on this?
  20. But I may be interested in purchasing outright. Can you send me some pics to johnpaulwynn@hotmail.com ? What exactly is an Incline designed to do? Specs too please. Thanks! JPW
  21. Thanks Mike T, that makes a lot more sense. I'll check them out tonight and see exactly what size they are. Perhaps I can get some cheap 25.5 or 26.0 shells to check this theory and see if it helps. It's too bad there's no local shops here that have snowboard hardboots to demo... Anybody got some 25.5 or 26.0's laying around that want to loan out? :)
  22. I'm progressing well. After riding Friday with Mark Jeangerard he recommended that I bump ~ 2 deg each time I ride until I'm comfortable, then bump it up again. FYI, when riding with Mark I was at 35/30. Yes I know that is low! Good news is that Sunday AM I pushed it up to 40/35. After about 6 runs at those angles I decided to push it up again as I had zero problems. So I ran the rest of the day at 45/40. Next Sunday will be 50/45. Keep in mind that Mark gave me loads of excellent Technique tips Friday afternoon, and this could have helped me progress quicker. Also Mark mentioned that as my angles get steeper my technique will change some to accomidate a more forward stance. Mark I can't thank you enough for all the help, and I can't wait to rail some more with ya! JPW
  23. I went to a fitter Sunday and had some footbeds made. While they did make a difference I still had pain, just not as much. Talking to the bootfiiter he noticed that the shells seemed a little big for me. He noticed this by having me put my foot inside the shell without a liner and then using his fingers to "measure" the space between my heel and the back of the boot. He said normally he fits at "two fingers" and mine was "three fingers". Keep in mind this is a ski boot fitter, and he knows nothing about snowboard hardboots. My shells are 25.5-27.5, so I'm trying to figure out how they could be too big. He measured my foot and oddly enough I measured 25.5! Paper and pencil trace showed 26.5 for me. Also after closer inspection it looks like my stock liners are 27.0. The fitter mentioned that if my boots were too big then it would jam my foot into the front of the boot, which I have noticed and assumed was normal. This could cause the "width" pain I'm having... Now I'm looking at whether or not to try to find smaller 25.5 or 26.0 boots/liners. I'm very hesitant because logically I can't see my "width problem" going away by switching to a smaller boot, but perhaps I should try it out. Are all Raichle boot shells set to cover a length range (ie 25.5-27.5), or is it just my SB224's? Does Head, New model Raichle, or UPZ have shell sizes for each specific number (ie 26.0, 26.5, 27.0), or do they cover a range as well? Your thoughts? JPW
