  1. Eeep. Thank you. I'm terribly sheepish - how horrifying.. it seems I butchered the reassembly.
  2. I don't mean to flog a dead horse, but what's a set screw? Bomber's "How to set up your plate bindings" instructions describe it as a lever bolt, but...? One picture shows the screws (one for toe bail, one for heel) I used for adjustment. Is this the set screw? The other shows what I've ended up with, which in my opinion looks just like the photo in the first post. I'm hoping not to forcefully eject myself from my bindings on the first run. All recomendations welcome.
  3. Going to resurrect an old post. The board/bindings/boots were stored across the country, and now that I have them at arms length, your recommendations might make more sense. Just a few clarifications to the great advise I received in August: What is the set screw? To confirm, the angle between the lever and boot should be minimized? Thanks again, and looking forward to the first runs this week.
  4. Please help out a brand new carver. Pardon my ignorance, but here goes nothing... What is with the little nubbin that protrudes from the black clip of the binding? It seems to interfere awkwardly with the boot. Any ideas, suggestions, enlightenments?
  5. Boots came in well-packaged, looks as advertised, and in great shape. Thanks, Fanman!
  6. Tenorman, A class act, indeed! <O:p Thanks so much for your interest in my plight, your astute interpretation of the situation, as well as your attention to the details of my post. <O:p However, I couldn’t possibly accept such a gift. First and foremost, I have a purchase pending Paypal approval in the works, and I couldn’t in all conscience renege on it now. Secondly, I couldn’t possibly take advantage of your kindness – I’d lose sleep over it! <O:p It’s wonderful to see such support and encouragement towards new carvers. Your generosity astounds me. I can only imagine how your kindness has opened doors for young carvers, and I hope you continue with this. I think we can all take a page from your book when it comes to nurturing newcomers to our sports of choice, and promoting development in all forms. <O:p</O:p You’ve inspired me – I hope someday I can return your intended favor by giving my unused equipment to other aspiring enthusiasts. <O:p</O:p Thanks so much for your kindness and generosity. It’s truly heartwarming! I hope those boards can make carving a reality for other students somewhere down the line. <O:p</O:p Have a wonderful summer and thanks again, <O:p</O:p nadia
  7. What's the mondo size of those beauties?
  8. It certainly does sound like I've stirred the collective pot re: the B word. From glancing at other posts helping rookies gather info on appropriate board sizes, I think I'm starting to piece things together. But feel free to chip in. At 5'8", 160 lbs (muscular!), I'm a fairly agressive rider. The ultraprime I demoed was a 165. Its owner said I was a natural. From my trace and measure job, 26.5 boot (approx. 8.5-9 mens US). I was thinking something in the 160-165 range..? The student budget will certainly govern options. As pretty as the custom fancy-pants options are, I will be looking for a well-loved garage sale beater. Keep the BURTON brainstorm fired!
  9. This is a call out for thoughts and feelings on Burton FP's and Ultraprimes. I was fortunate enough to be able to demo my first alpine board (an Ultraprime) not long ago, and took a shining to it. That's all I needed to be converted from softboots! I was surprised not to see any reviews for these boards on the Carvers Almanac. I'd like to pick the brains of anyone with experience with these boards willing to talk about it :p. How would either of these shape up as a first alpine board? I've been softbooting for 11 seasons, and am starting to fish around for alpine gear. Thanks, folks!
  10. Thanks guys, Great to see the BOL community pool its experience together. Thanks for your 2 cents! Bottom line: avoid UPS. Check.
  11. I'm new to the sport and perusing classified. I've got a question for experienced BOL buyers: What type of additional costs (duty, taxes, etc.) would you see shipping from the US to Canada, or back? For used boards/bindings/boots, etc? Any ideas out there? Thanks, and stay with the spring cleaning - keep the For Sale page flying!
  12. Is the package still available?
