  1. Any on-snow impressions yet ?.......
  2. Last ones for me this season...... The day was magic......
  3. Firm wind-packed snow..............................but well......
  4. Impressive, neat and clean job.... Catek may be "old school" now, the design is still up to date (adjustability speaking), so well done mate !... Let's see what's coming next.......always good to see passionate people pushing things ahead....!
  5. Also curious about the beautiful Black/ Full Sheet Titanal Winterstick..... Was it tested at MCC ? Specs ? Behaviour ? Pictures ? Anything spicy about it ?......
  6. Ask your seller first...he should be able to provide you some information. Second, with the board serial number you could probably ask Hans at Kessler some more info. And may be something else to consider........even if you seem to be into the right range for the board lenght, 162 is the SL race size in Kessler's line, and (guys correct me if i'm wrong), probably quite stiffer than the 168 or even the 170 despite a more GS size !!! Assuming that we speak about stock boards and that your riding technic is ok (No offense at all). And what @Corey wrote just before is also really right on point. A shorter board doesn't always means a softer board.
  7. Drooling...... Great first video !.... But wait......what a long and nice run you're carving down.....but the more turns you're doing down the hill, the longer the run still remains to the bottom.....................am I missing something or what............ ...................? Have fun and keep the stoke, videos and pictures coming........ it soothes that resorts lockdown situation.... Carve On !
  8. Reviving that thread a bit as I may go towards Step-Ons probably sooner than later because of too many problems with my lowback when sitting and getting in/out my current bindings that I like "tight"....(Drake Radar teaching/Franken CatekFR2 freecarving). So @svr are you able to provide some more feedback about your set of Step-ons with Ion boots, especially about their behaviour while carving ( play in the binding, response, wear, boot flex and so on....) ?........ Cheers !
  9. I do already got SW....so i was speaking about shimming my SW heelblock to become a toe one.
  10. AFAIC, that's a job pretty easy to do once you got the right tool for the right job....I do have got the tool... The only concern is the shape of the steel arc not perfectly contouring the front part of the boot as it's shaped for the heel that is slightly different...... .............Safety ?...................... The picture shows a standard TD3 and I assume that the mod would be the same for a Sidewinder... Nevertheless, thanks Wolf (and others) for providing helpful tips ! If that mod can work on a SW, I may ask Walker at Bomber if only ordering a spare step-in Heel block is possible.... Stunning helpful community
  11. Many thanks Guys ! As the resorts here are not planning to open at all, I'll have time to think a lot about those changes ....! Thanks again and don't hesitate to keep wise advises coming
  12. Hi All, Seems like important and long term lowback problems will lead me to make some changes..... Not enough hardbooters carrying that gear around me so that's why i decided to ask for some help. What would be the simpliest and also, if possible, the cheapest way (Buying the less spare parts possible) to transform my backfoot TD3 Sidewinder in a step-in one ? Using the existant heelbail for the toes may not work totally due to the shape of the arc not the same with the boot front wedge... Fintec or intec ? I'm using Deeluxe 325. Pretty sure that it has been discussed here before but I did some research and didn't find what I wanted..... Thanks to the whole community help in advance ...! (If not posted at the right place, sorry and move that thread !....)
  13. If you look closely, he's actually steady and stopped..... No Sprays, nothing...... Just pushing his ass off the ground with his left hand ! BTW..........Nice shot BWD....!
  14. 90% of feet problems come from the shoes.... I would investigate around modifying your liners with good care or help and for the rest of the time, ditch your "pointy" shoes or boots and get some "natural foot shaped" shoes or workboots.... And if you can, be barefoot at the maximum..... Others options can certainly be investigated or, provided by people on this forum. Best of luck Lamby.
  15. Same as Corey, plus I re-cut the inside foam layer of the liner for even more space around the toes and extra warmth... On some liners i also did some slits for extra liner deformation. Test carefully !!
  16. We've been pretty lucky.......December 31st, last day of the year couldn't have been any better...........!
  17. Here in Andorra we still wait for the resorts to open but some splitboarding turns can be enjoyed....... Wishing you all a better 2021....
  18. Years ago,I had a big and very painful fall twisting my back by having my hardboots slipping cornering a street...... 3 Weeks off work at the skischool !..... Since then, I walk hardboots and softboots by slightly attacking my steps with my inside heels. Totally counterintuitive I do admit but works very well (for me), even if you have to focus on it for quite a long time before it becomes "natural". Well I did it my way even if it may be not THE right way......
  19. Looking forward for the review of that nice board Jack.... Looks like the guys at Winterstick can build boards with full length/width sheet of titanal instead of inlays as before, right ?... .3 .4 or .5 titanal on that one ? Have a fun ride !
  20. Snowboard Museum item ?.......
  21. AFAIK, there is a tool called sidewall planner that works to take sidewall material off in order to better file your egde at the angle you prefer..... That's a work to do in two steps, with two differents tools....sidewall planner + edge and file sharpener (choose your angle) Well, i personally do it like that. I sure can adjust my sidewall planner to remove more or less material but I don't know the amount of angle of it.....just because it's not written on it and because the adjustment comes with a screw that you tighten for more or less bite. The more i adjust it the more it bites in the sidewall, the less and it takes less material off and may bite the top of the edge. It's about to take off more material for a sharper angle or the opposite.
  22. Thanks SBS....Wildsnow is a ski/board touring website of reference btw....
  23. Smooth and nice footage.....Like Milk and so on and so on.......looks like a carver's heaven ........ Yep !.......but too short !...........
