  1. With my girlfriend, it is: one hardboot setup, one softboot setup, that's it. How many of you could survive? Not much I would bet!
  2. I recorded it (1:30 AM here in Montréal), but didn't have time to watch it yet.
  3. I have only one board, it is a medium sized freecarve board (166 - 18.5 cm). But I feel However, I think I would prefer an all mountain board (like a Coiler AM) even though I have never tried one. A freecarve board is great, but when conditions get crappy, it's much more work (because of the width and stiffness) and less fun.
  4. 2002 Speed178x200mm: 14.2 meters 2000 Factory Prime 7.8-200s: 14.2 meters
  5. From what I heard for bike helmets and rock climbing equipment, I would have to say 5 years or a major impact. Like others said, it is due to the degradation of the material over time.
  6. Of course you can ride it without the cant. I rode mine with the cant for a couple of years, then tried a year or two ago without it, and it felt even better, so I now ride flat and fell great. Don't be afraid to try. Bring a screwdriver to the hill if you want to experiment further.
  7. I usually get between 5 and 10, and I am now at 2. Wow, I really feel different from the rest: under 10 days a year, only one alpine board...
  8. Looks like the tail of an older Oxygen or a Nitro GTO
  9. Regular bindings offer more flexibility than step-in bindings. It is then easier to absorb bump and irregularities from the race course. It has been covered previoulsy in a couple of threads.
  10. I'm very sorry to hear about your loss. I've had things stolen from me (my first snowboard on my first day riding it, brakes on my bike while I was away for a couple of minutes), but nothing of this magnitude. I also lost personnal info on my computer beacuse of a HD failure (music, 5 years worth of college work and assignments, pictures), but this was my fault for not making any backups, I still kick myself for that. I understand it hurts a lot. But with all the frustration, keep in mind a gun is NOT the solution.
  11. I second Mont-Ste-Anne, very nice. Wide trails, varying inclinations, not too crowded, but yes, quite cold. Another place worth trying is Le Relais near Québec. It is a small mountain (half of Stoneham, third of Ste-Anne), but they are some carvers that hang out there and the trails are good for carving.
  12. Here goes: Alp 51 Graphics: Purple with curvy white lines on top; white, purple and blue base. Total lenght: 1510 Running edge: 1270 Effective edge: 1310 Waist width: 195 Sidecut depth: 23.5 Sidecut radius: 8.59 m Stance width: 14-20 inches 355-505 mm Rider weight: 90-150 lbs 40-65 kg Stance offset: 15 back All dimensions in mm unless otherwise noted. This is a translation on a french catalog. I will post pics on my website as soon as I get to that year in scanning.
  13. I will be able to give you the specs of the Burton when I get home as I have all Burton catalogs from 93 to 2002.
  14. Welcome fellow Montrealer! Let me guess: you got your board at Sharks? Cant and lift are pretty much a personnal preference. I tried a combination of cant and lift when I started (Burton fixed cant), and now I ride flat and it is much more comfortable. I would like a little heel lift though, but no cant. My bondings, board and boots have enough flex to pull my knees together when I want to, so no need for cant. P.S.: We are a couple of Montreal riders here(me, CarvCanada, bartron), so if you want to ride with us, just post here or email.
  15. The only time you will feel some strain with higher angles is when you sit on the snow. In this case, dod what I do: don't sit! But with higher angles, you may even feel less strain on the knees because with higher angles and the same stance, theoretically, you knees are the same distance apart, but practically, they feel closer. It would take a while to explain and it is late, but with the way the leg articulations are made, they feel closer.
  16. I'll scan the catalogs and put them on my website as soon as I am done. I have from 93 to 02.
  17. MSI and Asus are both very reliable, go with features I say. But don't get a cheap board, you might regret it in the long run. I don't think you'll notice a difference in reality between those 2 processors. Computers are so powerful these days! I still run an 800 (800 REAL MHz :p ), but I have 512 MB because I used to do CAD in college a year ago. The only thing that makes me want a more powerful computer is DivX encoding which takes several hours per movie, butthe advantages are not worth the money, I'd rather spend it on something else. 512 MB is good for a regular user, but the minimum for a power user (which you seem to be). So I say get 512 now, get another 512 later (I know how hard it is to bargain with a wife/GF).
  18. Looks like a Murano clone with a better 4wd system. Still, it seems too big for most people's need (as are Murano, Touareg, Infinity FX, etc). On a sidenote, it's pretty rare for a car company to put a concept car on their webpage, espacially in design form like this.
  19. I think the reason would be that when turning heelside, lo lean on the leg on that side (for me, turning right, as a goofy, means leaning on the right leg, which is in front, on a heelside) and on a toeside, you lean on the other leg (turning left, left leg, in the back), so that's why it feels natural to lean on on front leg on heelside and rear leg on toeside. The other reason would be the one mentionned in my previous post.
  20. When asyms were popular (and I only had a softboot setup with high angles back then), I was saying to myself: "Asyms are not logical because on my heelside, my weight is mostly on my front heel and on my toeside, my weight is mostly on my rear toes, and both are closer to the center of a symmetrical board than on an asym board." And when I tried a Burton PJ on a demo day, I did not like the smaller turn radius of the heelside because it felt unbalanced. So that's why I always liked symmetrical board, even when asyms were popular.
  21. I'd say it's a good setup, very similar to what I ride (2000 Nitro 166 narrow, 1997 Burton Performance plates and 1997 Burton Furnace boots). If the board is yellow and black, it is a 99-00. The boots are probably a 1997 model. The board has a good medium flex and the boots are good if they fit your feet. I never tried those bindings, but they are good from what I read.
  22. Just a small note, I have never seen a 4x4 3.5 deg cant, only 3d, but I have seen both of the 7 deg.

    pros boots

Those are 1998 Burton Furnace boots. Last year they made them before coming up with the physics system and Intec compatible boots.
  24. 1. Yes, there was 2 models: 3.5 degrees and 7 degrees. 2. The cant is screwed to the board with 12 mm screws and the bindings are screwed to the cant or the board with 16 mm screws. Don't use 16 mm screws on the cant, you will bottom out and the cant will be loose.
  25. I you can try them on, go for the one who fits your feet the best. Usually, Deeluxe are good for narrow feet and Head for wider feet.
