  1. Seriously has anyone successfully ridden at Deer Valley or Alta claiming to be a monoskier? I may have to go to DV for one of my daughter's competitions. On the bright side of this thread... the other dayI was waiting for @trailertrash on the side of the trail and as he approached, a group of skiers near me said "check out the alpine boarder!"
  2. Camber adds "mechanical stiffness", kind of like spring preload. So a board that has lost camber will be softer all else equal. It will be less snappy. Now, the fact that it has lost camber has to mean that it has also lost some material stiffness too. It is "broken in" and no longer retains its original shape. But sometimes all this can be ok if you thought it was too stiff before. I'd ride the board and evaluate it in use. Then decide.
  3. @dredmanthat room is a shrine and a prized collection. I don't think I've seen a more valuable grouping of 7 boards. The pic is sweet too. Great photos tell a story and that one really does with the old wagon behind you. @Neil Gendzwilllove the RaceRoom. Yeah the Elite 150 was a horrible board in anything but powder. I also never loved the graphics I got. But... she was my first! Full disclosure, I sold my Safari to fund the PJ. The Safari on my wall now belonged to my late best friend and first riding buddy. So that's nice.
  4. Whatcha got? Finally have a place to hang my first 3 boards…
  5. That’s what I was trying to show, I couldn’t get a link to the men’s picture. Swipe right!
  6. Yeah @Shred Gruumer! You have great history with F2. Love my current F2’s. They have come a long way. Impressive that a large manufacturer even cares to keep up with the specialized boutique brands. F2 on top this week in Carezza! https://www.instagram.com/fissnowboard/p/CXi-0BBMB75
  7. Indeed you have to bring your A game when @GeoffV is in town!
  8. I didn't catch the 5 degrees part. That is A LOT.
  9. I used to use outward cant on the rear foot (TD cant disc at 45 degrees, binding angle at about 56). I liked it. When I switched to MS boots I felt the need to remove it, although I haven't tried messing with boot cuff cant. I think I'm all set.
  10. Ugh. December is such a crap shoot. Basically any time before MLK, all bets are off. Hope they groom the hell out of it. I'll be there tomorrow (Wednesday) but coaching and locals racing.
  11. You need the full day spa treatment with The Doctor, @Beckmann AG at Sugarloaf, Maine. Custom footbed maker, boot fitter, binding/stance/attitude adjuster, carving instructor.
  12. Hi Justin! The short answer... nobody races World Cup or even NorAm in softboots for a reason. However, becoming faster in a course on hardboots than you are in softboots will take time and practice. If you only race in hardboots and do all your other riding in softboots, it probably won't happen. If freecarving on an alpine setup is of interest to you, then I'd say spend as much as you can on good gear and you will become faster in the long run. It's been a while since I've seen you ride so maybe it won't take long at all. A good test is if you are already carving confidently on your existing gear. That is, can you carve your downhill edge and fluidly make repeated carves with no steering or skidding? Honestly I don't recall if you were doing that already or not, sorry! You'll want a 162 or 163 SL board, and I have to say my stock Kessler 180 was a dream in the Shawnee GS courses. Not a fun board to freecarve, but man it just knows where the next gate is. It took seconds off my times compared to my previous long freecarve boards. For boots, if you have average to low volume feet, you'll probably do better with Mountain Slope or UPZ. If you have a high volume ankle/instep area, maybe Deeluxe T700. If you have narrow feet, Deeluxe 425. If you're not sure of any of the above, and you can't try on anyone else's, I would say start with Mountain Slope or UPZ and hope for the best. Check the classifieds. Your mondopoint size is the length of your feet in centimeters. My feet are 28.0 and 28.4 and I squeeze into 28s fine.
  13. Is this the US's best showing since Klug?? The force is strong with this one! Video from dad of his 1/8 final: https://www.facebook.com/david.winters.90/posts/10222751139981705 Results - some big names below Cody! https://www.fis-ski.com/DB/general/results.html?sectorcode=SB&raceid=18688
  14. Saw it last night - awesome! Finally an Expression Session makes it into the big time! Great job by our man @dredman representing us all, narrating the clip like a pro. His opening shot of a 360 carve dropped many jaws in the theater. I heard people around me saying "wow" a number of times through the clip. It was fun to point at the full shot of Turner and tell my wife that's where I'm going! I was also not prepared for such a glorious segment on my home mountain, Sugarloaf. Brought a tear to my eye! I heard that our segment was originally longer, but was shortened by someone's pet project in the film. It's our lot in life I guess.
  15. This is possible, the tech is there, but not inexpensive. However if you want to do this at a resort, definitely check for their rules about drones. They probably require explicit permission, or they may forbid them entirely. If they give you permission they may ask for your drone's FAA registration. I have the DJI Mavic 2 Pro. I do some real estate photography as a side gig. I haven't tried to use it to video carving yet because my resort requires permission and I haven't wanted to try asking yet. The Mavic 2 and Mavic Air 2 will descend with you, the original Mavics did not. The Mavic will visually track you, or you can tell it to follow the controller and then put the controller in a backpack or a large pocket. The Skydio 2 drone seems like another good choice. It has visual tracking and it also has a optional "beacon" that the drone will follow. e.g.: https://youtu.be/-hJJDWw0VoU?t=320 https://shop.skydio.com/products/skydio2?variant=31589058052119&currency=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=&utm_campaign=14472560856&gclid=Cj0KCQiA-qGNBhD3ARIsAO_o7ynk-WOO3AxVP_Bd0gZ3kn2xRqz3o0G3C-PYLFGSQkjUyKKn9DkcmtoaAuLFEALw_wcB&kit=Sports The Mavic 2 Pro will have better image quality for still photographs as it has a 1" sensor, the Skydio has a smaller 1/2.3" sensor.
  16. Yeah but I want to try the Intuition Plug Wrap. I think it might be even better than the MS, and I think I like a wrap better than a tongue. But I did enjoy the MS liners for over 100 days. That could be it. I get the impression maybe the Corsa is for hella stiff ski boots that don't hinge much. We didn't go with the Gara Stealth because the boot wouldn't even close during the test fitting before molding. Maybe removing some of the cork would have solved that, but the bootfitter didn't think so. While our feet might be a similar length, maybe I have a higher arch or just a bigger volume foot, I dunno.
  17. Maybe I have weird feet. One weird thing is one measures 28.0 and the other is 28.4. With the Zipfit Gara Stealth 27.5, I couldn't even close the boot. Instant NO, do not proceed. The Corsa seemed like a good fit until flexing caused the bunching. Out of appreciation for my bootfitter (Happy Tunes) accommodating my free demo, I purchased a pair of 28.0 Intuition Race Plugs he had in stock, which are also a tongue/lace-up style liner. Unfortunately They're not going to work for me either as the cuff is just a bit too short (just reaches the top of the shell) and the cuff is reinforced with plastic. In my case there's just too much material around the cuff and it squeezes my leg too much. Next try will be the Intuition Plug Wrap. Anyone want to buy a pair of 28.0 Intuition Plug Race? Molded once, used 4 runs.
  18. My bootfitter was certain there wouldn't be room in the shell for the 28.5. Zipfits go in whole size increments on the half size (26.5, 27.5, 28.5, etc). The C shells are specified for 27.0 to 28.0. Holding these Zipfits up to the stock liner, they are the same length. Also these are a new model, maybe they're different in this way. Not sure what you mean. Anyway I was allowed to try them for 2 days and then I had to make a decision. Back to Intuition for now. I'm sure the Zips work great for others.
  19. These aren’t going to work for me. I believe I have a very low volume situation and there is simply nowhere for the material to go. The liner bunches when I flex forward and I really feel it in the boot. I would need liners with a “bellows” section of thin material on the sides where this is happening: not flexed: flexed: Otherwise the quality of construction is off the charts. The inside is nice leather. The viscous cork molding material really seems to work well. The forefoot is stretchy neoprene with a shearling wool lining. I can see why people rave about them, when they are a good match for the foot and shell and the room between them.
  20. Trying the new low volume Corsa. The Gara Stealth wouldn’t fit in my Mountain Slopes. My 28.4 foot is at the long end of the C shell.
  21. Hell yes! Another Shred Gruumer design! Been waiting for this one. Saw it at the factory in a raw state. Looks like a wicked SL stick. Can’t wait for the review.
  22. Sweet. What model Oxess is that?
  23. I for one am living proof that's not true. LOL I've been blocked from liking or commenting on his Facebook page/posts.
  24. I love that he uses K2 Thraxis boots... one of the stiffest "softboots" on the market, if not the stiffest. Bears no resemblance to any boot anyone would use if they had any interest in park/pipe or all-mtn freestyle at all. A boot for BX racers and lame dads like me.
  25. Considering Sugarloaf's early access (Sundays and a few vacation weekdays, 7am) is a $400 add-on to a gold season pass, I don't think everyone would be able to afford the premium I assume they would charge. I'd guess $599 as a season pass add-on, $59 as a day ticket add-on. It would if it discouraged people from coming at all. Although I would not be surprised if Sugarloaf makes more money on season passes than day tickets, considering all the real estate built up here, but I don't know.
