Yeah. Recent Mac convert here. I did it mostly out of curiosity. Overall I'm satisfied. But Microsoft should sue Mac for slander for all those wise-ass commercials. I'm learning that Macs are, plain and simple, NOT headache-free as they would like you to believe. They just come with a different, if somewhat smaller, set of headaches. Sure, I like the Unix-type underlying OS. Sure, it's a bit more stable than my 5yo PC was, but I would expect no less from 5 years of progress. Not worrying (as much) about viruses and spyware is a relief. But otherwise, Macs are simply not much more idiot proof and hassle free than PCs. Your story comes as no surprise. Glad I got a MacBook with Tiger while I could. The program I use most doesn't support Leopard yet. Not glad I have this to look forward to when the time comes to upgrade.

Sounds like a good deal and a good size for you. What is your foot size, and the waist width of the board? You may like the width, as it will allow you to use lower angles like perhaps 45-50 degrees. This will make for an easier transition from softboots.

Actually I'm hoping Apple comes out with something similar. Hence my recent conversion to Mac. They're already half-way there, with the AppleTV box and being able to buy movies through iTunes.

You know that someday hd-dvd players are going to cost like $100. I'm going to wait for that. My TV does a great job at upconverting from 480p dvd. I have a hard time telling dvd content apart from hdtv. Maybe my tv (sony bravia xbr) is better than others in this regard, but I'm not itching for hd-dvd just yet. Maybe if my tv was 1080p, I would be. It's 720p. A friend raves at how much better regular dvds look through his player that does the upconversion internally and has hdmi output. I assume his tv must not be very good at doing the upconversion then. I haven't tried one of those players, but I don't see a need with my tv.

Zach, I think you'll be much happier on that 182 than the 179fc1. Sure, when it gets crowded, it might be a little long, but for carving and cruising (which is what you bought it for) I think it's the right choice. Let us know how it goes.
