  1. I've been thinking that we here at BOL need to start a tradition of bestowing a selection of annual awards on our esteemed members. One, of course, should be the "PaulK Bastard of the Year" award.
  2. My googles have too much peripheral vision. Can you suggest a search engine that would just give like 10 really good hits?
  3. '93 PJs were way different than '91. '93's had dual asym offset - more offset in the tail than in the nose. '91 PJ5s was 149.5cm, iirc.
  4. Yeah, wish we could leave it public, but moments after I opened it, it was infiltrated by spam. Just register, it takes a minute.
  5. no need to yell. I was only trying to compliment his riding. that's all.
  6. then I think it's time to update that avatar, yes? 6 degrees max. unless you are naturally more duck-footed than most.
  7. Welcome fellow class of '88 alum! Don't hold your breath for the companies who got burned by alpine to get back into it, they won't, and that's not a bad thing. The internet has allowed real alpine dedicated companies to thrive (and in some cases re-form) by bringing the world to their doorstep. Check out Donek, Prior, Coiler, Madd, Tinkler, Virus, Swoard, etc. I don't know if we'll ever see that "resurgance", but there has been steady growth, and I think it will continue.
  8. "Boing".... you need to be giving lessons, not the other way around.
  9. <b>PRIOR:</b> Free board!! <b>PTC:</b> Free tunes!! <b>Performance Downhill</b> (http://raceboarding.com) - 2 longboard skateboards! ski helmets! You do NOT want to miss this!!
  10. I would say that your waist/lower back is part of your core, not a peripheral. Hands, sure. I have a friend who had a lot of potential, however he started with the same problem with hunching his shoulders. He's never been coached. 20 years later, he still has it. Bending too much at the waist and/or hunching shoulders hurts one's ability to balance. A better posture with your upper body stacked over your c.o.g. leads to better balance. Agree completely. Beckman once described this to me as feeding the board through the turn like a dollar in a change machine. Between each turn you pull the dollar out again. Congrats dingbat, you're the BOL project of the month. I hope you take Mr. Depp up on this free coaching, what a nice thing to do. Treat him nicely!
  11. You can add PRIOR to the list of free board giveaways at the glorious ECES raffle! Thank you Prior!!
  12. Oops!! I looked here http://www.eces.com/contact.html and quickly saw "Labrador", thought they were in Canada. Doh!
  13. Too bent over at the waist and hunched in your shoulders. No need. Move your weight forward and backward using your legs, not your back. DO NOT reach for the snow with your hand. Let the snow come up to you. A few other things, but there is good potential here. Try the Norm some more and see if you can really get your board to slice without any steering whatsoever. Looks to me like you're still pushing the board around a little. After you get that to happen, then add the suspension back into the system. Coming to the ECES?
  14. Made the call this weekend and left all my stuff at the loaf. Didn't look like the weather was going to cooperate. Looks like I was right.... :(
  15. pssh, Canadians. I can't find anywhere on there what *their* ECES stands for!
  16. Dig the retro original graphics. Looks like they have a grasp on useable sidecut radii too. Glad to see they're still at it, they must have moved offices in Freeport, because the old place is closed. I feared the worst. Hope I bump into them at the loaf.
  17. I highly doubt they can be repaired. This is a known defect with Burton Fires. I had a pair do the same thing.
  18. oh we will remind you. I know how it is, I never do anything before the cutoff date, due date, whatever. But this is rather unnerving for us. If we don't make our minimum by 2/8, there will be an unpleasant decision to make.
  19. That's it, the one on the right. *drool*
  20. The accommodations Geoff has arranged at a group discount are <b>first come, first served</b>. We do NOT have a block of rooms set aside - they simply wouldn't do that. We (read: you) are competing with the general public for available rooms. Once the Village Green and Golden Eagle are sold out, the group rates are gone and you'll have to figure something else out. cha-ching. Don't delay! www.eces.us
  21. Uhhh.... since I suspect a fair number of people simply skip past those "sticky" threads at the top of the forum..... Did you know that at the ECES we will be raffling off boards from <b>DONEK, COILER,</B> and for the first time, <b>VIRUS</b>?!? And <b>TWO</b> pairs of <b>Bomber TD2s</b> and <b>TWO</b> pairs of <b>Catek OS2s</b>?!? And Tex is buying everyone a round on him?!? (well, he offered, but we'll see how far that goes!) <i>BUT...</i> we are still short by a big number on the minimum we need to hold the banquet. Please, don't make us eat the deposit. If you are going to be there and you want in, please please please sign up and pay your fee by credit card or paypal by clicking the paypal button here: www.eces.us/info.htm The deadline for signing up for the banquet is <b>February 8</b>. We cannot accept payment at the door. THANKS!!! www.eces.us

  23. LET'S GET IT ON... It's official. I have just confirmed with Fin.... the winner of the ECES retro day will go head to head against the winner of the SES retro day in an online poll here at BOL. Best outfit on the continent to be decided by BOL members... winner to receive a special prize tba. FABULOUS PRIZES... I assume you already know about the board giveaways by DONEK, COILER, VIRUS... but the Stoweflake has just offered a 2-night stay including breakfast and dinner... a prize package worth over $1000. Thank you Stoweflake!! DON'T DELAY... The cutoff for the raffle banquet is fast approaching, and we will lose our shirts if we don't get enough people signed up. Worst case, we'd have to cancel. Don't let this happen! This is your event! FMI: www.eces.us
