1. Donek 168 Incline or 169 Wide if you like low angles. Maybe shorter if you want more park ability, but I wouldn't go shorter than 160 at your size. Bind with Catek FR2. Also check out Madd Fr/Fs or BX. www.madd1.com

Willy - very timely - Ducati just revealed the 848.... http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=ducati+848 Tex - awesome. Very clean. Guess you'll just have to pretend you're riding it while carving.
3. I'm supposed to be getting one to review. If I love it, I'll probably buy it.
4. if he doesn't have one.... a Leatherman.

No, I didn't, and I didn't think it was. No worries. It's just something that really bugs me - ever since that interview, frankly. Everybody judges on appearance. It's built in - part of how the species is supposed to reproduce and evolve.

Unfortunately it is simply human nature, and everybody does it to some degree or another. Anyone who says they don't is the bigger phony, and a liar. I had a job interview at Burton. It was for an engineering position, so I figured it was more corporate. Recalling the axiom "it is better to be overdressed than underdressed", especially for a job interview, and also under pressure from my father, I donned the suit. Mistake. The woman who interviewed me all but told me I wasn't getting the job because of the suit. She asked me if I wanted to take it off. She even lectured me that it's what's inside that counts and we here at Burton don't judge people for their appearance. Uhhh.... you just did, biatch. Friggin' Burlington hippie. Lesson - the uniform is always required. Just a question of which. he's too busy taking photos of hot half naked tattoo'd chicks all the time. Seriously.
8. I know there are several crafty designers in our midst... so far this nice one from JJFluff is the one to beat: Let's see yours!
9. http://www.fulltiltboots.com/ Not to be confused with the Dalbello Krypton, which my dad has and loves, these Full Tilts are actually made from the original molds. Cool!
10. my boys are in my stomach just looking at that.
11. Sunday River owns the early season, their snowmaking is simply in another league, both in quantity and quality. And it's a good 45 minutes closer to Portland, so if all you have is a day, then that's a big factor. Stick to two adjacent "peaks" like white cap and barker - the traverses are a nightmare. Now, if you were asking where you should go for a mid or late season long weekend or week-long vacation, that answer is simple. email me if you need some Portland tips.
12. have you seen these links below? good luck!

14. Uhh.... http://www.bomberonline.com/articles/tech_articles.cfm also this link got lost in the lastest update to that page... http://www.bomberonline.com/articles/practice_drills.cfm For first time carvers, start with The Norm. Good luck!
15. one more reason I'm glad i don't ride Burton anymore. Actually I've wondered if hardbooters could ride Alta etc. and get away with it. People are so clueless about alpine now, I bet we could just say "it's not a snowboard", or, "it's a monoski" and glide on by to the chair.
16. lift up or push down with big toes, then ankles, then knees, then....
17. Did you get a free bowl of soup with that? ;)
18. Yup, it's all online now, save for a couple holdouts (Startingate for one). The store here at BOL is good: http://www.bomberonline.com/store/index.cfm You should come to the ECES, it's at Stowe this year: www.eces.us
19. I used to be a longboard snob. Until I tried an '06 158. Bought an '07 afterwards. I love that board. If you crave that zero-g feeling between turns, this is your fix. On steep ice where you absolutely, positively, have to get the carve done, accept no immitations. Sugarloaf's steepest stuff - White Nitro below the crosscut, upper Gondi Line, Sluice headwall, Cribworks, Flume - this is the kingdom of the 158.
20. ever since I was a kid, whenever I go past a snowy pasture like this: I think.... man, if only there was some way to tap that...
21. Ruts. They have to deal with them. We don't. I did a season of weekly club racing a few years ago - skiers and boarders. The ruts were nasty. So much so that I would take crazy stupid lines just to avoid them. I can understand the need for more flex and impact dampening in a race system, however I don't understand using weak bindings and stocking spare parts in order to get it. If I were to race, I'd want a sturdy binding with engineered flex, a la the TD2 with extra suspension kit, and a Derby/Hangl type plate on the board.
