  1. I'm trying to find two pairs of F2's Titaniums in medium. So far I've sourced one, but all that's available everywhere I look, are large. Now the smallest they'll go is mondo 26.5, which is my boot size. (Head Stratos Pro) What concerns me is that I won't be able to get them tight enough, and I plan to use them to race, so I'm concerned that under pressure, they may release. Ideally I'd like to hear only from people with the same boot size as me, who have tried a large binding, and can confirm either way, whether it's a safe option. Thanks for your help!
  2. Looking for Apex Gecko Carve plates with soft bumpers. Ideally I'd like to trade them for Vist plates in very good condition. Thanks for looking.
  3. I have boots in 26.5, which is at the max of the small range, and minimum of the large size, so I'd rather play safe with a medium. I'm looking for the cants and wedges that originally came with it, as I'd like to run toe lift on the front, and heel lift in the rear. Standard toe clip version only. Thanks!
  4. I wish I could take advantage of that incredible offer Mig, but I'm replacing my race boards right now. It's next in my list after that though!!!
  5. I know what you mean, I seem to be adjusting to them ok, this was my first time out on them, while on a layover in Paris last summer. https://youtu.be/8pSKLYaXWmw
  6. Sounds like a blast! I LOVE carving in my softs, and I know Mig makes great slalom skateboards...I'm going to have to try one of these next winter!
  7. I've been using Chris Chaput's Liquid Truck, and I've been pretty impressed. It also has a really good clearance, making wheel bite unlikely with most normal sized wheels. And Mig is right, skate gear is a fraction of what Alpine stuff costs. $125? I don't think there is a single item you can get for Alpine costing that! I'm in the process of swapping around my race boards, and the cost is ruinous...
  8. I rode with Jean Nerva a few times, when we were both sponsored by Cheimsee clothing, a fun, goofy guy to hang out with. We were in Laax for a photoshoot, when he insisted we jump on snowbikes. No one else on the team, Bauer, Retsin and Koestenholz, wanted to go...so the rookie on the team went. He scared the sh*t out of me as I followed him at breakneck speed down runs, round berms, off banks etc. definitely a laundry experience! When we got back, and I told the others what a lunatic Jean was, they all laughed and Peter said "Did you not know that the crazy Frenchman was former World 500cc motorbike champ?"
  9. Come to the Dark Side...we have SG's... SG 157 Full Race. $550 plus shipping.. Barely used, I'm embarrassed to say, ridden 6 times max, once in the last 2 seasons. Base is perfect, as are the edges. Almost unnoticeable amount of 'Vist Rash' (evidence of it's lack of use, Vist was fitted from Day1), other than that, it's perfect. It has been 'hot boxed' and babied since purchased, and I am the only owner. SG's are bombproof and go on forever...this beauty will outlive you! Feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions. Paypal preferred.
  10. SG 180 Full Race Pro Team. $650 plus shipping.. Barely used, I'm embarrassed to say, ridden 10 times max. Base is perfect, as are the edges. Small amount of 'Vist Rash', other than that, it's perfect. It has been 'hot boxed' and babied since purchased, and I am the only owner. SG's are bombproof and go on forever...this beauty will outlive you! Feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions.
  11. Hot Blast 182 - $250 plus shipping. The base is in perfect condition, as are the edges. So much life left in this board. Hot constructed their boards using horizontal laminate wood cores which allowed for torsional stiffness while preserving longitudinal flex qualities. Hot was also the only snowboard company to reinforce their sidewalls with a tip to tail strip of Birch hardwood, an ABS sidewall, and thin rubber strips, all which provided strength, extra shock absorption and dampening. This increased resistance to shock and added strength to the edges. The quality of Hot snowboards was extensively tested by top pro riders including Dieter Krassnig, Philippe Conte, Mike Jacoby and American Slalom and GS Champion, Sondra VonErt. Blast was Hot’s high performance competition board, used extensively on the World Cup Circuit. It was narrow and light for performance in the gates. It has a light wood laminate Powerflex core, a graphite electra base, and 20 inserts which maximize stance options. This was the board I was going to ride, to try to qualify for the 2002 Games, until I got sidelined by a bad injury (from riding park).Paypal preferred. PM me with any questions.
  12. Sadly the new trend of asymmetric soft boot boards, is to help a particular group of riders....freestylers. When stances start to get really wide, the rider loses the ability to use much in the way of up and down (flexion and extension). They also, more importantly, lose the ability to use their hips to rotate and steer through a heel side turn. The solution? Make the heel side of the board deeper, therefore much less effort is needed to make a heel side turn, and in fact, it now just requires leaning on the edge and riding the sidecut, without any need for hip rotation... It is an equalizer for those riding the park, who can't make the necessary movements in their current stance. So NOT the same reason we have assume carving boards.
  13. Very cool H! Next time I'm in your neck of the woods, I'll bring my Gecko, you bring your new Axe, and we'll go sk8 some cones!
  14. Great reviews, I'm in the market for something around the 162/3 size for tighter 'modified/Nastar-size' courses (I have a Kessler 171 for the slightly more open courses) and this is sounding better and better. BlueB, did you ever ride the 162 SL with a plate, if so, how did that work out? I'm trying to work out whether I would want a soft or a medium, would you have any suggestions Alexey? I am 1.68m (5ft 6") and 79kg (175lb), I am fit, strong with good technique. The board will be mounted with a Vist, which may stiffen it a little. I mostly ride out West, where there is less ice, but I will have my biggest race, next February in Lake Placid, so that is my main criteria. Thanks!
  15. I am about to post BURTON race plates, and the come with a special 2 part riser that you can rotate, to dial in different combos of heel lift and/or can't. Let me know if you're interested. Good luck on your quest!
  16. I was loaned an older Pro 163 by a friend (possibly a 2009 model?). I already own an SG 157 Titan and an SG 180 Pro, so I knew how well they ride. As with some of the previous reviewers, I found this board to be an Alpine quiver killer! I weigh around 175lb, I'm fit, strong and with a race, rather than free carve background so I was intrigued to find that this board fit exactly between the other two in terms of turn size and versatility...it was the missing link. Agile and responsive, fitted with a Vist plate and F2 Titaniums, it carved deeply and powerfully, allowing me to dance through the crowds and then unleash some long to medium radius, super stable, higher speed carves. When you lift it up to carry it, with the Vist on it, it weighs a ton, it's incredible how, when you ride it, that weight translates into stability and the ability to hold a line as if it's on rails, cutting through any bumps or ruts in it's way! On steeper blue runs, it never gave a hint of unsticking from the snow, even when my hip was on the ground at GS speeds...it was very confidence inspiring. It took no time at all to get used to, and felt like an old friend. The second time I took it out, I thought I would roll into the Nastar course at Park City. Other than jumping into the course with students for a laugh, I had not ridden any gates seriously, for a couple of years, and bearing in mind that our course is a dog leg and you can't see the last 3 gates, I pulled out of the start hut not expecting too much. Especially as our Race Department like to offset the last few widely 'to slow people down' (WTF-it's a race course!). The carves came effortlessly, and edge changes were smooth and predictable. As I crossed the finish line, the surprised announcer said "Good grief, that snowboarder just got a Platinum medal". I was equally shocked, so to make sure that it wasn't a fluke, I went back up and went faster! When I checked the Nastar national rankings, it had placed me at no.9 in the nation, with no one less than 20yrs younger than me...I think I like this board. My plan now, as I'm not racing SL or GS, is to sell my other two SG's, and find a 163 for myself!
  17. I'm about to post an SG180 Pro, a few years old in perfect condition, with Burton Race plates, for $800. Let me know if you're interested...
  18. Henry, you need to update the guys on some of your recent exploits... Utah and your Cali Expression Session! I love that I have had the chance to ride with you on both snow AND concrete!
  19. Hi there, Are the bindings still available? Thanks.
