  1. Nice clean modern looking layout, a lot less cluttered/busy. Well done!
  2. This is the long range for the Wasatch. Finally!!!*. " After plastering the northwest US with some seriously heavy snowfall, these systems are expected to start affecting Utah with some possibly significant snow storms next Thursday/ Friday, and next weekend. Significant snow storms are expected to finish off the month of January, distinguishing the last 2 weeks from the first 2 by a large margin (of snow totals)." Looks like carving Wednesday, powder Thursday!
  3. That I don't know... But you may not need them ;-)
  4. A bit ironic really that my copy of your outstanding magazine arrived on my doorstep the same day as my free copy of Transworld magazine, courtesy of USASA (I would never pay for it). If I had a second copy of "Carving", I would happily send it along to them to remind them what a true magazine is like. I have no interest in reading through endless adverts and articles on what some pre-pubescent sponsored rider has on his iPod nor do I want to read the fawning letters to Pros or hear about their drunken antics that are a pain in the arse for the poor people who have to clear it up. So thank you for making this huge effort to give us something to actually read that doesn't say "Bro" or "Dude" every 3rd word! A beautifully produced publication, great pictures, great articles and a 'spot-on' foreword by JJA! Keep up the good work! Martin
  5. I think you can still get tix through Costco for around $50-$60 each... Failing that PM me regarding another source ;-)
  6. Current conditions at Park City courtesy of those nice guys @ Hardbooter.com.
  7. Just rode most of the Utah resorts with clients recently. Solitude was just ok, less groomed than usual, the Bird was fair coverage but not many groomers. Brighton was the best of the Cottonwoods. Park City has the most snowmaking and is in the best shape with plenty of big wide groomers with excellent coverage. I went to Basin and the Strawberry area made my base look a season old! In addition, there was also a Patroller standing at the location of the"Incident"! PC would get my vote, I'm actually teaching a multi-day Private with a woman learning to ride Alpine from the East Coast and she is loving the conditions! About a dozen good groomers open, it's super cold at night (8 deg last night, 32 daytime high), they are blowing overnight, eight times the yield for same amount of air and water at 15 deg as opposed to 32 deg! More runs opening soon. If you do come, let me know and I'll try to find sometime to ride with you, avoid Saturdays, they get busy.
  8. Just so you know...I'm back permanently, teaching at Park City. I taught 800hrs two years ago and 650hrs last season.( I took some time out for USASA.) Funny enough I'm currently teaching Alpine to a woman who found me through the Instructor page here...Thank you Bomber!
  9. In all seriousness I usually do, I save that reply for those that are looking down their noses at me.
  10. The one question I get EVERY time I get my hard boot set up out is... "So how does that work then?", I find it so hard not to say something sarcastic, so I just say "I have absolutely no idea". At that point the chair usually goes quiet. My work here is done... I can go back to my iPod.
  11. Before I got my Oxess, I used a NS Raptor with success. Stable at over 60mph, remarkable for a board with some reverse camber, turn initiation is easy, carves well, stable off jumps. Review here http://www.goneboarding.co.uk/review/never-summer-never-summer-raptor-10-11/productid/6669/showproduct.aspx Hope it helps.
  12. Today on a chair, me with my 180 SG, a young female skier says "I understand how you turn a snowboard twisting your feet, but how on earth do you turn that thing? It's a monoski right?" I then lectured her on how without the thing strapped to my feet, she wouldn't have her carving skis...
  13. I'm going to ride Thursday morning @ PCMR. I'll be at Crescent Lift around 9am and will be riding til midday.
  14. Cool, give me a shout when you get back.
  15. Do you guys ever ride on a weekday? Wednesday or Thursday?
  16. Small world! Just spoke to my wife who was riding with our friend Judy on her Kessler, you met them on Friday! I was teaching at the time.
  17. Hi there! Yes there are a few of us, a nice mellow crew. You'll find most out on weekends, but a few of us do Weds/Thur mornings (I'm teaching in softs the rest of the week). I'm on 435 655 one six four nine. Should be out next week on Thurs, would love to meet another carver.
  18. Glad to see my baby in good hands...enjoy!
  19. I'll quiz him when I see him next. The shell was heavy duty Carbon Fibre, so I bet they aren't cheap!
  20. In the Locker Room today, I saw one of the Ski Instructors walking around in what looked like pretty standard soft boots with a Boa system...but I knew he didn't ride? On closer inspection his Apex boots go into a rigid Carbon Fibre exoskeleton making them a ski boot! Bizarre! It wasn't the makers intention to make a dual purpose boot...but it is!
  21. Billy, you're my hero! Be careful, you're a Daddy now! I still relate that story to people of the Patroller that finally caught up to you when you were out cruising on a 190+ Nidecker and told you he'd been chasing you for ages (you hadn't even known), and said HE was on the edge of control. You looked him in the eye and told him that perhaps he was skiing outside his comfort zone while you were still riding within yours! Priceless.
  22. I'm guessing you have an older iPhone, as with a 4, it should still leave you with about 75% charge by the end of the day.
  23. I use this App http://www.corecoders.com/CoreCoders/skitracks.html its awesome! Apparently the next update will cover airtime. I have no idea what my carving speed is, but I know my top softboot straight line speeds are all around the 60+mph mark. As as ex-downhill skateboarder, I know what 50-60mph feels like having been clocked on very accurate equipment. I'll try a carving-only run with it on this winter.
  24. Is the regular a Logical or a Blast?
