  1. What a joke... W/B has been shut down by the gov't until April 19. They claim it is due to a high number of Covid cases. Funny how Spring Break ended yesterday. They wouldn't shut it down during Spring Break due to loss of dollar$. Is it just me or has Covid become more political and financial than medical???
  2. I stick with the sideways stance, just change boards and surfaces. Wing foiling and kite foiling keep the soft water stoke and the flow... Early morning transition sessions at a few local skateparks keeps my balance and flexibiiity where it needs to be. Chasing my son and his buddies through the local mtn bike trails keeps the cardio at a reasonable level. Like alpine carving all these sports require focus and concentration. You just can't be thinking about anything else when linking wind-swells, riding a concrete wall or threading single track... We're all still 17 between the ears. It's the 50+ year old body that's the issue.
  3. The skiiers code of "downhill rider has right of way" has been lost for some time. I have been run-over from behind by more aged skiiers than young snowboarders. One thought that I should "go back to the park" as he skied away knees jammed together skidding every turn... Some people can't help themselves...
  4. I have a few other boards, bindings and boots available. PM me directly with you rough dimensions and foot size (Mondo)
  5. Damn Covid! My wife gave me a pass to go this year. Actually encouraged me to try to attend. (Wonder what her boyfriend's name is???) Hopefully next year. Have fun and stay safe.
  6. Thanks John. Great description and formation of skills. I'll try to remember this stuff when my daughter gets the "Need for Speed"
  7. Happy Holidays to all. Next year can only get better. "Trenches for All!" Cheers, Trev
  8. Nice turns! It's a shame to watch the soft booter scraping the slope behind you...
  9. Having owned 3 different sized Prior 4X4's, 169, 174, and 183(custom). I would not advise riding with soft boots and bindings. The boards are too stiff and too narrow for a soft boot set-up. Soft boot bindings would not alllow you enough lateral support to carve at the higher binding angles. Of course it could be done with significant mods to boots and/or bindings. But to what end???
  10. Dammit... I missed on these. (must check classifieds daily)
  11. Funny how those Ogasaka boards look like my Sims, Terry Kidwell from the 80's. The Kidwell could never carve like that though...
  12. Hope you are recovering well. Interested in the MK. Will send a PM
  13. Purist. It's all carving. As long is they leave a relatively fine line in the snow. I don't care if they're on a pair of skis, but then it better be two parallel lines. (Stem Christie turns need not apply)
  14. Now that's not fair. Look at them defacing that almost perfectly groomed slope. After no riding this sping, I'd settle for a chopped up, cowded mogul field... Only six months until the snow flies again. Not that I'm counting. I'm going to go put my boots on....
  15. Mtn biking is like the very early days of snowboarding, circa 1980. Hiking up the local hill around the ski area boundary.... You gotta earn your turns! (Excepting for those rare days when the injured buddy or loving wife offers to drive you to the shuttle point)
  16. Despite the pandemic. Most of us will look back and realize how much fun we had with our families. Social distancing is easy on a mtn bike. Just take it easy. My son and I put in 10 to 20 km every other evening in the local trails. His improvemnt in bike handling and reading the trails has been amazing...
  17. I would think the nature of the event would require a Turn Contest to require 2 trenches separated by the board width at transition to qualify as a completed turn. Corey, we all aspire to that level of carving in the video. You made it look effortless.
  18. Style is style. It is a personal thing. Some ride with amazing power, others with an effortless grace and smoothness (my favourite), and still others just look like they are beating the hell out of the run. It's all good, as long as it leaves a single fine line... I think the shorter stance allows for a more dynamic riding position. He seems to be able to handle chopped up runs far better. The board also appears to be stiffer than most, it doesn't seem to want to fold at high angles and speed. Which model BC Stream? The wider stance works on perfect groom, as shown in most videos, but the riders seem to get bucked around by any uneveness in the surface. Even at the higher board angles involved in carving.
  19. His stance appears to be shorter than the norm for the style of riding.
  20. It is there to keep the board close to me when starting in big swell or choppy conditions. Once up and foiling I prefer to be able to shift my stance with the conditions. Normal riding has my front foot about 2" back of the foot hook. I think it would work well for a "No Board" application with a small tweak to accommodate the size of snowboard boots. I would probably block the hook up rather than reshape it. Although the plastic may not like sub-zero temps.
  21. Possibly a balance "twitch" caused by the lack of dynamic movement as a result of such a wide stance.
  22. It's killling me!!! Not only no mountains (they have more snow now than when they shut-down) but the local districts have shut down all the skateparks as well... My last carving outlet is kitefoiling. But the wind has not been cooperating as of late. I can only mountain bike with the kids so much.
  23. Agreed. The first girl appears very rigid on the board, not very dynamic in her turns. Is it possible the board is too stiff for the speed she is running? That tecnique may be fast throught the gates but is far from the smooth and graceful carve we are accustomed to seeing from the Japanese and Korean riders.
  24. Another loss to skateboarding. RIp In Peace Jeff
