  1. Isn't that the falling leaf technique?
  2. For info: A friend has this for skiing and loves the system. I contacted Carv to see what their plans were for alpine/racing snowboards, and given the small size of the global community, their response wasn't a surprise : >>> Hi Jason, Thank you for getting in touch! Unfortunately, our data models are built around the pressure and motion of downhill skiing, so our units aren't compatible with snowboarding. We are keen to really perfect the space we are in right now and truly understand technical skiing, but this is something we might look into for the future! If you have any further questions or queries please do not hesitate to ask! Best wishes, Katherine — Customer Success Team | Carv by MotionMetrics <<<
  3. On wider boards I can get speed wobbles if I am riding too high angles. But if you are used to riding steep angles and want to try low angles on wide boards, I think you need to incrementally adjust your stance and let your reflexes acclimate. I normally ride 65/60 and even adjusting to 60/55 felt really alien for a few weeks. Then I went to 55/50 on that board and it took another month to get comfortable with it. The wide board definitely rides better with the shallow stance, and now I can swap between my narrow boards with 65/60 to the wider board at 55/50 without any mental dissonance.
  4. Learned a new term today: Back Skeg Stitches.
  5. Man, I looove the shape of the Moss Modern Fish… ( • - • ) ( • - • ) ( • - • )
  6. This is one of the real killers. If you want to stay in the flow, but don't have capacity to check behind you from time to time your risk goes way up and the consequences are impossible to estimate (unlike collisions with static objects).
  7. Alpinesnowboarder.com and you leave Peter Bauer off the list…
  8. I’ll just put this here: I want this board sooo bad but if I return home with another snowboard, I’m sleeping at work (I’m already sleeping on the floor…jk… nk). Virus boards ride sweet!
  9. Lucky you! Magnetraction! Sucks that its a Virus tho…
  10. I had/have one too with the 3 strap Torque bindings. I think I know where it is and keep thinking that I should get it back some day. The edges are totally shot, but that woodgrain top sheet… was sweet!
  11. Open the flood gates!!! This is my goto: https://beckmannag.com/hardboot-snowboarding/hardboot-binding-configuration
  12. I no longer get comments about my riding, but my Virus Le Surf Carbon/Titan is now officially known as the coolest looking board at my home hill. Finally got to ride it in good pow this season and can now confirm that it smashes EVERYTHING.
  13. Do you need a respirator with the PS5? They state that it doesn't contain flourine.
  14. I wouldn’t really want to have to rub it on but a couple of weekends ago we had -25C with snow that was a week old. Saturday I had cheap white glider on the center base with speed stick on the edges and it suuucked (but there was lots of tbar riding that day). Bought and hot waxed with Swix PS 5 that night and it was a whole different story on Sunday. I would hate to have to rub speedstick on a whole base.
  15. This sucks to hear about, but it is great with a psa every now and then. Here’s hoping everybody heals up really quick and that we all stay safe the rest of the season!

    Epic -vs- Ikon

Really miss the Colorado of the 90s, and I'm glad that I moved when I did. Is the ratio of gapers to capable people getting worse too? @JohnELittle ski areas are the best, and you need to keep them hidden from the hordes! Screw the luxury experience, just go and ride. If you are lucky they serve chili in addition to french fries in the cafeteria. I've been able to choose to live in a small town with a small ski area within a 10 minute drive. Today it started at -28C so the chairlift wasn't running, only a t-bar that runs from bottom to top was open and most everybody indoors next to a fireplace. On the first two runs, it was only a ski-patroller and me on the mountain, and I got first tracks both times. Beautiful sunrise, perfect chalk snow and decent grooming. The only downside is that at these temperatures the snow is ssslllooowww without a decent pitch.
  17. Yep snowboarding. Tried to surf off the top of a berm that looked like pure powder. Turned out it was pure ice with dust on top. The nose of the board loaded up like a spring and shot me face first into the top edge of the berm. My hand landed in between the berm and my chest and... the rest is history. Luckily just dislocated and while the doctor looked at me like I was kinda stupid, she said she couldn't strongly recommend that I didn't go back riding the same day.
  18. My turn… Small potatoes compared to most.
  19. vocabulary += 1 (or ++ for the old-timers)
  20. I've got 20L kegs myself, so I can get 4 hours of sleep everyday.
  21. An absolute shite week where i also see Geordie Walker (guitarist for Killing Joke) has passed. PLUS I find out the front man of my favorite New Jersey band passed away a few years ago. RIP Jack Terrycloth scroll to the music ~1:00
