  1. oh wow, it will take me some time to digest this while i look at my video. I'll respond later tonight or tomorrow AM. This is pure gold, and the exact type of analysis that i'm looking for! Thanks!
  2. I think this style of carving shows what a compressed heel side "should" look like or perhaps the opposite end of a heel side pirate carve.
  3. Thanks for the insight. So this is what i see: - More body compression on toe-side vs heelside - On a few of the turns, I can see that, maybe, heel side hooks around very fast at the beginning of the turn. - Right leg does look almost straight on some heelside turns, more bent on others. - Slow transitions from heel to toe. - As far as I can tell, leaving clean trenches in the ground. My analysis: I think the reason i get so straight legged on heal-side is that i'm trying to actively pressure the center of the board by pressing down on my right heel. I think i got this from reading some things about gilmour bias (which i do have, but only very slightly.) This appears to inadvertent leg straightening. My boot lean must also be playing a role. I do have my front boot more upright and straight vs rear.
  4. so i just measured my stance again, center to center of binding, and it's actually 19". I'm not sure why i just didn't try moving it back, i think i experimented with the stance while carpet carving and 19" felt the most comfy to me. But the higher toe/heel lift should allow for a wider stance. Fwiw, the distance from the bottom of my foot to the center of my knee is about 19".
  5. I am 5'5" and i forgot to mention that my left ankle has limited dorsiflexion. I think i get less than 25 degrees on that ankle. Does it sound like 18.5 is too narrow of a stance? I would probably have to go with 6 degrees heel lift on the back foot to get a wider stance.
  6. @Beckmann AG are you suggesting that my 18.5" stance width is too narrow? I'm 5'5" and i have limited dorsiflexion on my back ankle. This is what feels the most comfortable. Though i guess i could go with 6 degrees heel lift in the back as well and experiment with a wider stance. i never decreased rear heel lift. I use to ride with 3/3 and then switched to 6/3, i'm thinking i might try 6/6 next. Before switching to 6/3 i had a lot of problems with my tail washing out on carves which, to me, suggested that my weight was too forwards towards the nose.
  7. Ha. well yeah, it's the first good video anyone has ever taken of me, and i'm not gonna lie, i was pretty excited when i watched it. my goal is to carve as good as @Corey in this video. i think this is my 5th season riding. Last season i barely got 15 days of riding and i think the same before that. I live in Texas now. But i have attended a few of the Expression sessions and taken the group lessons with Corey. The big breakthrough for me was when i finally got my boots fitted correctly and eliminated all of my foot pain and i added 6 degrees of toe lift (up from 3). I feel like i could possibly use more toe lift but that's all i get with the sidewinders. i eventually would like to get the cojones to ride a race board and carve at 40mph.
  8. Thanks! Throughout my riding, i blew out just a handful of times. And I'm pretty sure all were on toe side. I'm almost 100% sure it was me getting ahead of the board and weighing the nose too much causing the tail to disengage or because of such weighting when I hit a small bump, I was unable to absorb it. I think it might just be a timing thing, like not letting the board come around enough and getting established in the carve before weighting the nose a little bit?
  9. I finally got some good follow-cam footage of myself this past weekend. i'm fairly happy with my riding, but i know it can be improved. I don't know if this is actually the case, but i feel like toe-side to heel side transition could be quicker and perhaps higher up on edge. In this video i'm riding a brand new coiler AM that bruce built for me. It has around a 10-12 vsr. angles are around 65f 60r. 6 degrees toe lift in front, 3 heel in back. about 18.5" stance width. I feel fairly relaxed and centered on the board but i noticed that while on the flats, my body still naturally wants to settle its weight onto the front binding and i still feel like i have to fight with my back foot just a little to get centered again. I'm not sure if i possibly need more toe lift or if i should mess with canting. Or perhaps i need to straighten the forward lean on my boots a bit more. I'm running with a dgss v1 spring system on my upz boots. Again, these are all minor issues and i think my setup is 90% of the way to being perfect. I don't have any foot pain or any other weird pains besides general muscle soreness at the end of the day. Any way, let me know what you guys think.
  10. @Corey The shoe goo idea is brilliant! I feel like i'm playing with some very slippery fire whenever i'm walking on my fintec's. I almost ate it a few times in the lodge at loveland. can you post a picture of how your heels with shoe goo? I once tried using those skiboot rubber caps that you can buy, but they don't fit fintec heels.

    Yo Lci!!

Great riding with you guys! My apologies for lapping you guys, but i had limited time on sunday since i had to head back to the airport, and this only being my 3rd day of the season, i needed to get as many runs in as possible! Love you guys! And thanks for all of the priceless advice you have all given me. i would have probably thrown away all my hardboot stuff if it wasn't for the community! Here is a video that @yamifumi shot of me:
  12. I have a size 27 upz shell. And i should be in a 28. My feet were in constant pain. I could only get about 2-3 turns in before i had to stop and cry a little. You can as @Corey how that went during the last aspen event. I had my boot punched out and widened by the guys at surefoot in aspen. (cool guys, didn't even want to charge me so i gave them 20 bucks for beer). I then had another shop in snowmass perform some major surgery on my intuition liners; he peeled away the top layer on my problem areas on the sides of my feet and used a dremel to grind away foam material. We put duct tape over those areas. My liners look funny with duct tape, but it worked. I also got a custom footbed made in aspen by some guy, think he calls himself the foot doctor...Once i had all of these things done, i was finally comfortable, no pain in feet, and i could finally carve without pain. This immediately greatly improved my carving technique. I would say that my boot fit is about 90% of where i want it to be. There are still some hot spots that i could probably get punched out, but it's nothing that bothers me while riding and my feet are very secure. I will probably, eventually get a size 28 upz and a low volume intuition liner.
  13. Most likely 2. One will definitely be a nirvana energy with 12-14 scr, 19 waist. I'm thinking possibly an all mountain or something else for the second one.
  14. I’m having bruce build me one or two boards over the summer. But, I’m moving into a new house and ill be building out a home theater. That will keep me busy for a while!
  15. Literally too small. I’m in a upz size 27 now with intuition liners and widened/punched out shells. My feet are happy now.
  16. Damn, that is one sexy board. Bruce makes the best.
  17. Make me an offer. These were my first set of medieval torture devices which i sized way too small. Mondo 26 with intuition power wraps (26) that were molded once. Only used them few times while curled up, crying, in the fetal position.
  18. True, I'll favor Montucky if the conditions are better. But, you have to admit that when conditions at aspen are good, it's epic!
  19. I'm sure there will, at the very least, be another unofficial ATC/SES. I plan on going to Aspen again next season. Probably more than once. My bank account is already crying.
  20. His website hurts my eyes! http://www.jaseyjay.net/ Blast from the past.
  21. So, what's the plan? We want to know! I'm assuming a new website is in order.
  22. School (ME|US). Why is the upfront cost so high? I thought cnc machines will just mill/cut the parts out of a solid block. Isn't it just a matter of feeding it the design and pressing a button? Again, i have very little knowledge about machining. The most i have done is woodwork (i built a desk once...)
  23. It should be fairly easy to 3d scan all of the parts and make the associated cad or whatever files. Also, we could probably arrange for a group buy of parts or bindings with the ebay guy that was making them. Just a thought.
