  1. Hi Nils, I got the plates thinking I'd put them on a Kessler, but that will have to wait....but yeah, I noticed that also, no one rides plates on Swoards but it seems most every Kessler rider I've seen has been on a plate...what's up with that? They both can carve, EC and bash gates....of course the Swoards are wider ( Swoard EC 175's are 23.1 and Kessler Alpine 171's are 195 at the waist) which makes the Swoards harder to get around gates as quick...............maybe that's it in a nutshell....plates typically on narrower board for choppy/rutted out race conditions. But why not plates on a wider EC board for the ever changing All Mtn. conditions? We will see and I will report............ Seems like a great combo to have in the quiver - ride the 175 H for hard charging on groomers and then when their all bumped up pull out the 175 M with Geckos for more hard charging! We will see and I will report............
  2. Got a set of Geckos now - Thanks again RJ! - and it came with yellow/medium bumpers installed....along with a full set of the standard red/hard bumpers. You guys that have used them got any suggestions on which bumpers to start with? Start with all yellow/medium bumpers at beginning of season then later in the season when I got my legs back mix in the red/hard bumpers in the middle of the plate and still use medium/yellow bumpers on the outside edge of the plate- like the photo - Or Just Start All Red?? ......also did you set up the plates symmetrical or asymmetrical???
  3. Yeah, that's was what I was afraid of! - Thanks Guys! ! I'll stick to my Swoard ExtremeCarver 175 boards this season. I did acquire a set of Gecko plates (Thanks RJ!) and excited to see what difference they might make to my riding. I'll wait until TTC this March to test a Kessler...........
  4. Anybody got any idea or comparison of how stiff a Kessler 185 is? I'm 225lbs but like a softer board and don't want a plank. I have the new Gen 4 Swoard EC in a Hard flex and I think that is too stiff....and also I have a Gen 3 Swoard EC in Medium which I love Any thoughts from the Sages??
  5. God! I can't wait for summer to be OVER! Thinking Snow already and I need a pair of Apex Gecko Plates, Carve model ....anybody?? Yes I know this isn't the "wanted" thread, but not many are looking this time of year and most of us are going to this thread first....so thanks for looking......
  6. Hey MackD, Sorry to hear your knee is forcing you to sell. Not sure your specific knee issue but I'm close to 61 and am an Orthropedic's wetdream of a lifetime of broken bones and abused cartilage from from decades of wear and tear. But after all other treatments had had little long lasting effect (excluding knee replacement) my Orthropod suggested stem cell treatments in my knees and that has been a miracle cure for me! Another change that has helped my knees is going to a softer board (Moss Performance Quad 160 and softer boots ( Deluxe 325) It will still carve but takes much less leg and knee strain to ride it. Wishing you well and hope you reconsider retiring from hardbooting!
  7. Hey George, Thanks for the offer............Yes, I'm interested.....I will see if she still has it in Aug/Sept. and let ya know. BJ
  8. I found a One Owner Sims Daytona 162 Candy Apple Red, PRISTINE! She says only used 3 times! She lives in Kelowna, BC......but she won't ship Anybody live anywhere near? I'd pay for your time and trouble to pick it up and ship it.
  9. Hey Pat Ha!...I bought that issue and still have it....but the wife rearranged the office and I can't find anything! I also have the 2001 Alpine snowboard review and photos mag ...that's the issue with Mark Fawcett laying it down near the back of the issue.........but I can't lay my hands on that either
  10. Does anybody have any photos of a Sims Daytona 162, Candy Apple Red (era-2001?) with the pin stripe details?? I want to see if Sean can duplicate the top sheet on a 175 W Proteus project. Here's a link to a 154 Gold Daytona from the same model year to refresh your memory - http://www.liquidationsports.com/index/page/product/product_id/41221/category/118/category_chain/95,118/product_name/Sims+Daytona+Snowboard+154+cm+with+Boots+%26+Bindings+GoldRedGray+-+USED
  11. Hey DC, Welcome to the forum! As for boots, just remember you want a SNUG fit with zero to little heel lift as possible. In that regard it is fairly normal to buy/ride a whole size or more smaller Alpine boot than your street shoe size....... ie: I wear a US size 11 1/2 street shoe and I ride a Mondo 28 which equals a US size 10! It was a little too tight at first, but remember the boot liner will pack out some over time! Now they fit like a glove! Again welcome and good hunting for your setup
  12. Hey LD What's the waist width and for what weight is this board designed for??
  13. Ouch Ladia! Well take it easy and let it mend this summer so you can carve next winter!!
  14. Hey Big R, Wow! Your actually there now!! Thanks for the reply and the info! How would you rate the grooming 1-10 compared to US resorts? ...Out here in CA, family resorts like Northstar are a solid 10, resorts like Squaw are a 2 at best, say they groom but it's marginal with lots of death cookie! My experience of Colorado is a solid 8-10 grooming wise ...got any photos????
  15. Hey Mouse Welcome to the forum! FYI: I tried the Driver X and the Deluxe 225 was softer! I'd go 325 or higher.....and ditto for using higher angles closer to 50 Also I am a size 11 1/2 and wear a size 10 (Mondo 28) for carving......you want it SNUG!
  16. Seriously considering a week at Valle Nevado....... I only know I'm not interested in skiing/boarding on a big open glacier like in Europe, so you guys that have been there, what would you compare the runs at Nevado too?......anyplace here in the US?? Any other pros/cons??
  17. Interesting Bumpy............I have had holes sewn into Virtaka bibs for my Fintec handles to pop through the outside of my pants right at the exact level.....no problem with EC. my How about some more photos showing connection to your Intec pull handle?
  18. Hey Avante If ya hit Squaw let us know how it goes. I'm on the wrong coast for the summer or I'd be up there myself!
  19. Hey Andre Love this board!, mine is a 168. Your on the Right coast.... just wish yours was a 175 Free bump anyway..........
  20. Went up to Squaw today 11-2pm, rode the Funitel up to High Camp and the conditions were really pretty good! Even at the top it was soft by 11am but somewhat firmer on the Shirley side. Probably best for carving by 10am but I had fun on my Moss PQ 160. Rode Siberia, Shirley, Headwall, Big Blue and Gold Coast lifts. There's still enough coverage that I rode Mtn. Run all the way from High Camp back down to the village to the Funitel station. Probably my last day!
  21. Yea when the Burton circus comes back around next winter to my local mtn. I'd give them a try.......but from what I hear from the Moss sponsored softboot riders from Japan that are laying down the carves they need/use/want a soft softboot.......so expect this boot to be the polar opposite of a Burton XDrive for stiffness. I would like to see a photo of the base of the binding and the boot connection system. Carving in general is huge in Japan...... and Burton, not wanting to miss out their share of the $$ listened to those riders and made the "Step On" https://whitelines.com/news/burton-announces-new-hard-snowboard-boot-system.html Whitelines...aka: white lies. Great April fools using a Track 325. Could there be a Burton hardboot in the near future? Doubtful, but demand drives the market and the Asian market is really hardboot and softboot carving hungry right now and Burton being the money hungry whore they are might not want to lose their share of the market. If Burton ever has the balls to get back into hardboots they really should really call it the "Hard On" ....that alone would give Burton back some "Alpine" street cred!
  22. Hey Marc, Check out this link posted under the soft boot carving worth watching - with review of Step On Softboot/Binding system on Moss Performance Quad 154cm board.
  23. That's a Moss Performance Quad 154 he's on. A very sweet ride. I have the 160cm version of that board and riding it in TD3 SW step In's and the softer Track 325's it carves as well as it kills the pow!
  24. Alright Ladia! I'm sure I'll see ya getting a pass at the Main Lodge around 8am Sat. .....If not, I'll be down at the Mill running laps on the lower runs, Broadway, St. Moritz and Mombo off the Stump Alley Chair until the Upper Mtn. loosens up. If it's good I'll stay Sat. night and ride Sun.
