  1. All great ideas, but still wondering what's the max KN's to clamp down a TD ??
  2. In my effort to reduce my angles on my TD3's on the fly......... which I have started....I want to purchase a TorqKey like this - https://www.giant-bicycles.com/us/tool-shed-torqkey-torque-wrench-6nm It comes in a 4KN, 5KN or as shown 6KN variety Which KN TorqKey would be best to tighten down TD3's to the board and change angles??
  3. Hey Rob, Thanks for the info. Yep on this Moss U5 I can ride a straight line balanced and no leg strain all day. What I have noticed is - for my legs to have enough forward flex/freedom of movement to absorb the bumps/rollers of pow riding I do not crank my boots down all the way, probably 3/4 as compared to cranking down for ripping groomers. I also leave the booster strap loose with at least an half inch of play. I'm running all Blue springs on the BTS and have some BTS forward lean on the rear boot. I think my 220 lbs and 6'2" over flexes yellow springs. I did lower the rear TD3 SW SI Disk from a 6 to a 3.....so running 3/3 which helped center me more.............but lost some nose control, so moved both bindings forward 1 insert hole - which got the power back under my front foot. This flexibility comes at a cost of at least 1/2 inch worth of heel play in both feet.......that's where I feel the "burn" but it's combined with loss of edge control on groomers more noticeably as the day goes on and my legs tire. I did reduce my angles 5 degrees on both feet and didn't notice any negatives.....nor much of any difference either riding today in heavy knee deep pow. I plan to go down another 5 degrees front/rear again for next pow day.........we will see what that does for me -
  4. Thanks Jim....yeah, that's what I thought.......and it was Angie's comments from the video review about your and hers Donek pow boards where she said (she rides same high angles as me) she said she reduces her angles to 55/50 that got me thinking about trying it again Looking forward to meeting ya out here in Tahoe in March..........
  5. I know how everybody is suggesting smaller angles on wider boards.........which I have tried and just doesn't work for me....but maybe the question is do steeper angles create more knee/muscle strain?? I run 60/55 angles and have TD3 SW SI's on my pow setup and I had a 3 front disk and 6 rear.............and that seemed totally overkill for a pow setup (What was I thinking??) so I reduced the rear to a 3 disk. That was an improvement the rear thigh appreciated while in the pow! That got me additionally thinking why do I need 60/55 on a pow board? So I'm going to reduce it to 55/50 to see the impact......I'm hoping my legs will like the change and last longer in the pow......today was an EPIC Tahoe knee deep pow day and my thighs were toast by noon...even on my Moss Snowstick with backset! What do the Sages say????
  6. Thanks for all the insight guys You guys swayed me, I'll go with the Pro in H flex..............still deciding 168 or 175 I'll need another board bag if I go with the 175 Ugh...
  7. Good to know Jeff...............I would not have considered the Pro. I thought I would like the "Pop" of the EC5 more and would have more ride options with the EC5 than just EC'ing all day long with the Pro. The price is a little more than I want but there is a 1.1 Pro 175H on the web store for 10% off Would the Pro 1.1 175H be any stiffer than the EC5H ??
  8. Yeah..........I plan to be at ATC Tahoe..but would be surprised if Jim would have all lengths in all the flexes by then....and mid March is a long time to wait!
  9. Hey Dragonrider Did you make it Jan. 2? Let me know if you coming back that way or over to Tahoe any time soon
  10. Hey Jeff, Thanks for the reply. I'm thinking the EC5H 168 as the next logical step from the Dual 168. The Pro seems too Elite and specific beyond my skills Have not had any trouble with the "grip" of the Dual....it really rails.......but the snow out here is Hero snow most of the time.......as most anybody can look good on the slopes out here as the only place you will ever find "ice" in Tahoe will be in your aspres ski cocktail!
  11. Well for an Old Fart like me (60) when I am back in the lift line, or on the lift or in the lodge and boarders/non boarders make the effort to come up to me and say, "Did you see that dude lay it out!', or "Was that you, man you were ripping!" or "That was some awesome carving". or "Those were some of the most beautiful turns" Really stokes me that I'm improving and to keep after it!!!
  12. OK - I just got this news yesterday via Swoard newsletter, so if you don't know, Swoard is/has updated all 3 of it's boards and they are or will be available by Feb. 1st to order - Dual2 ready to order NOW! Here's the beta- Dual2 - www.extremecarving.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12748 EC5/Extreme Carver Gen.5 - www.extremecarving.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12756 Pro2 - www.extremecarving.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12817 So I have a 168 Dual that I love and thinking of moving up to the EC5. I run TD3 SW SI on the Dual and can EC on the Dual. My weight/height is off the top of their wimpy European recommendation charts for my 230lbs. and 6/2 frame, but the chart max says and they have told me directly I should be on a 175 length with XH flex. With this rig I'd be riding the groom at Northstar, Kirkwood, Heavenly, etc... I was just as concerned in buying the Dual (they also recommended a Dual 175 at the time) two years ago that 175 is alot of board for our somewhat narrow/can be crowded slopes and the H or XH will be to stiff....fyi: I had a Virus UFC 168 that the stiffness killed my legs after a couple of hours I'm thinking EC5 in 168H.... What do the Sages say?? I would think a EC5 168H would be a different/more aggressive ride, which is what I think I want, than my 168 Dual but tight turns like the 168 - am I missing something??
  13. So the local consignment shop has a brand new Airwalk Force 157 and Force 167....still in their plastic liners, never used, never mounted...........for $75 each They seem flexy but I do like the 20.5 waist The word is the former Airwalk rep had these laying around and brought them in to clear out his inventory Don't need it, but I have a weakness for old/beautiful Alpine boards! (I own and cherish all 4 sizes offered of the 2001 Sims Daytona).......I would ride it and the Force 157/167 seems like a good cheap ride out here for the soft pack of CA. Comments/Opinions??
  14. I guess I'll just swap toe boxes for now, thanks Corey!. Jim offered to send me some new wavy washers...so I'll wait for those
  15. Jack- Great idea bending the bail......BUT Somebody Tell Me "HOW DO YOU REMOVE THE BAIL BOLT" I've tried an Allen in both ends and tried counter cranking them....it won't budge!
  16. Each $300 + shipping. Used twice, maybe 4 hours total Tried soft boot carving.....just ain't my thang! I would return them but the wife threw out the original boxes
  17. Ditto - avoid Killington.....unless your looking for a "Destination Resort Experience" I would go to Sugarbush hands down-
  18. You guys are making the assumption I can get the damm thing apart! What's the trick?? ...and my TD3 Step In Side Winders toe bails don't look like any Jim linked.... here's a couple of photos.....I have two identical sets ( one set on my pow board and the other here on the Swoard Dual)that are not that old....a couple of years at best....why are mine so different looking???
  19. Hey Slope I tried cranking down on it from both ends at the same time but it won't move either way!
  20. On my pow board my rear binding/free foot toe bail won't stay upright.....just getting on the lift makes it flop down. It's a pain to try to flip up in the pow! Can a TD3 Step In toe bail be tightened? I tried, but to no avail. Guess I could resort to Locktite......but I would like to be able to move it down when I want.
  21. Happy Holiday Price Drop $500 + Shipping
  22. Thanks for all the offers guys. I got what I needed.......
