  1. Great photos Ladia! Were all the POW hounds out for a weekend POW day? You been out to Mammoth lately?? I'm on the East coast until May 2nd and wondering what's gonna be open and rideable May 7/8th
  2. We got new snow here at Squaw and Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows should stay open way into May now! No sure how Mammoth is planing to stay open -
  3. Thanks for the heads up Avante............looks like I'll head to Northstar this weekend.......... and hope for better grooming!
  4. I've been away the last six days........how are the resorts holdinig up?? Anybody gonna be at Kirkwood this weekend??
  5. Hey QQ, Homewood is the best for it's glades and when there's pow.... in my opinion. Not many big wide open runs that are long enough to let it rip...but fun for the money ....and it's more of a "locals" Mtn. Totally different vibe than Squaw/Alpine/Northstar/Sugar Bowl You guys still coming to Kirk this Sun?? I might make the drive if Northstar is a dud Sat. You guys up for some Filming?? I got a couple of Handy Cams I would bring to film each other. Mon. we got over 12 inches here at Squaw and when I went up to Boreal Mon. night in the storm it was easily 16+ and there were like just 5 people TOTAL on the whole Mtn.......it was great! I stayed until closing a 9pm and was so dead but it was so good!
  6. Aw sorry I missed you guys....From Squaw I gotta go all the way around the lake with Emerald Bay closed!...so that's more car time than carving time! Heavenily is as about as far as I can justify driving time. Additionally I'm having to stay in the Tahoe Basin to multisport these days as I got to train for a couple of 100 mile bike races coming up in early April and May. I'm sorta stuck at Northstar for the morning, then a training ride and then Boreal for night skiing if it's snowing, which it was when I crested Donner summit on my bike today! Were supposed to get 6 inches here at lake tonight! .........but let me know if there's a gathering next weekend ~ BJ
  7. Trying to decide to go to Kirkwood or Mammouth! Anybody coming up to get their Carve on this weekend??
  8. Hey Brees I live at Squaw. Squaw is crowded period...and a zoo on the weekends. The mountain will probably stay open until April 22 but had posted to close the 15 of April. Alpine Meadows usually stays open a week or two longer.....just depends on weather. The 6ft we got over the weekend will probaly carry us through to at least April 22 maybe May1st They are fun Mtns. and there are runs that are good for carving.....but their grooming is questionable. I would recommend Sugarbowl, Northstar, Kirkwood, Heavenly over Squaw and Alpine Less crowded and much better grooming. Give it a go for a day at each each and then try the other resorts. If you want detailed carving runs at each mountain go to: alpinecarving.com/resorts Have fun!
  9. Hey Phil, Yeah that was my 2nd day on the Moss and I set it up on the recomended stance, 20.5 which is wide for me. Also that night was deep and then wind blown crust and not that steep I have tried less steep angles and it just doesn't work for me. Since that footage I actually have moved both bindings towards each other 1 insert and that was a huge difference
  10. Ok...this might be a little more exciting than the last video, maybe not....this is my second attempt at this POV filming thing. The Moss U5 makes it look easy.......but if you stepped off or biffed you were swiming in it! Northstar 3-13-16 in 30+ inches of pow...at Flatstar it was deep enough that you had to jump from pow to someone elses tracks to keep your speed up!.....and yes that was Ski Patrol I passed towards the end like he was sitting still! youtube.com/watch?v=SJ7TJEqzE8U Can't seem to get a live link!! You will have to cut and paste - sorry
  11. BB If your being sarcastic I'll take it.....nothing very exciting in that footage, the Moss Snowstick U5 makes it look easy, but if you steped off or biffed it was thigh deep. It was exciting being there and fun for my first attempt trying to put some footage together.
  12. Here's some Pow from the recent storm here in Tahoe. Riding a Moss U5 at Boreal CA "https://www.youtube.com/embed/vYQ54A2MCtY"
  13. How do you post videos directly with your new topic? I have a 25mb, 1.5 minute file that is being denied as "file too large"!! Yes, I see the 9.77mb size limit...... but I see other videos at over 3 minutes posted.......how can their 3 minute video be a smaller file size? I did save my 1.5 minute movie for email size file.
  14. A Swoard of a different sort but Love my Swoard Dual 168
  15. Thanks guys. Next wax job I'll definitely try the loose screw technique!
  16. As long as I can remember I have always had binding suck of some form on all my boards, but now I have a brand new Moss Snowstick and it is a real noodle and I really don't think the idea of running plate bindings was ever considered in their R&D and was stressed I'd over torque the screws to the board so I choose to back off somewhat on tightening the binder down but I already have slight dimples showing up So is there a suggested lbs. of torque for the baseplate screws and how do I measure it?? Just had to post my new ride!! Some Stats: Moss Snowstick U-5 and this is Next Years Model!~ Length: 157 R.Length: 864. EF.Edge: 1060. Sidecut: 9800/6900. Nose/Tail: 310/292. Waist: 26.2 Stance Width: 540 (520-640) Set Back: -46.5
  17. Was in knee deep snow last night and the Moss was Awesome! On the steepest runs I would float right through stuff that everbody else was just tomahawking! Then went I got out of the powder on the groom it was very snappy and responsive. Very impressed! Can't wait to get it in the trees next!
  18. Looky Looky A new board for all the POW here in Tahoe - Finally! We got 20+ last night and 5 more today and 20 more coming tonight through Monday. I was at Northstar all day and then straight up to Boreal for night shredding and was having a Blast in the deep but killing myself fighting an All Mtn. board with bindings maxed all the way back wanting to auger in when it was knee deep and steep on Lost Dutchman!!! So decided to pony up for the right tool! New Moss Snowstick U-5 and this is Next Years Model!~ Some stats: Length: 1570. R.Length: 864. EF.Edge: 1060. Sidecut: 9800/6900. Nose/Tail: 310/292. Waist: 26.2 Stance Width: 540 (520-640) Set Back: -46.5 Here is a photo with binders and the link to their website with the model I got: mosssnowstick.com/product-2016-2017/u5 I'll set it up with TD SW SI's and head back up to Boreal Monday night and I'll post how she rides!!
  19. Anybody heard if it's going down this March?? Also dig deep in your closet and let me know if ya got an old Sims laying around.....plate binding suck finally cracked my 2001 Sims Descender
  20. A Swoard of a different sort, but I run my Swoard Dual 168 with TD3 SW Step Ins and it's been Great!
  21. I'm sold! ....I've got an extra set of TD3 SW SI's just waiting for a ride!.............but what distingues a "Blue Mtn" Steepwater ....is it a Plow or Steep? or some other animal all together??
  22. Saw this in a ski consignment shop out here for $85! Looks hardly used....like 9 out of 10!! Top sheet is a crayon like drawing of....wait for it ---- a Blue Mtn. "Steepwater" has a Serious reputation out here. Anybody got some beta on this board??
  23. Hey Dingbat, Yeah, you could be right...... Right now I'm keeping an eye on the forecast and it's looking less icy and more snowy....that's encouraging to undertake a road trip!
