The best example i can relate to as far as understanding how far particulates travel is all the snow i see a mile away on the other side of the road when the local bump is trying to make snow. Never seems to settle where you want on need it. Glad to be living in a drafty old house and far away from other people.

My point is not about his company and their technology but about rational plans with emphasis on stemming the growth of this pandemic and putting resources where they need to be in order to deliver a vaccine to the world not just the wealthy countries. He admitted that some of his early predictions about technology and the work place weren't always accurate. I would add that so far all his predictions about where the US is headed with it's handling of this pandemic has been correct his entire work force has been working from home since March and he doesn't see them returning anytime soon. His emphasis on building new factories for producing new vaccines specifically for early possibly less effective vaccines as well as those on target for later release with more extensive efficacy. One comment that was interesting was his questioning of peoples acceptance to take a vaccine ( At minimum 60 % compliance is needed) As far as trusting any technology from any source that's up to you. So far i'm still questioning if i can participate safely with social distancing given the way my local bump runs things. So far it looks like MCC with limited participants and a two man chair is the safest bet. The hot tub at the motel is out and the evening social gatherings. Perhaps more electrical hook ups at resorts so we can use our own facilities ?

If the boarder ever opens again check out Salmo BC. Super low key equal distance from Red MT in Rosland and Whitewater half way between Salmo and Nelson close to Us boarder. It was also the home to many US war protesters ( Forgive me for political content Lurch ) If your looking for like minded off grid this is the place. Salmo also has a community ski hill open at nite for kids to enjoy.

Sounds like a solid plan but i'm guessing the border will be closed to me so probably not going to get a return visit to WF. Damn that's a fine place to visit!

As things open numbers are under control as cases trend down. Major cities are mandating wearing of masks as a condition of entering public buildings. How you'all doing ? (side note for Sunsurfer) I see Hutt had record opening #'s and no social distancing in lift lines, riding a full six pack just to rub it in ! Have fun on your August trip !

I could start with engineer jokes about tools but i won't . There is a reason i have thousands of dollars worth of tools and roll boxes to put them in. One in my pocket usually doesn't do the job. As a piece of beautiful bling it's lovely go nicely with the $10,000.00 electric mountain bike (motor bike) i don't have. Probably cost a nite sleep if i lost it. Are individual pieces available ( replacement for lost or damaged ones ) And finally the cost ???? Till i see James Bond using one i'm out.

SunSufer your trip is 5 weeks out so i would expect the future is fairly predictable and i hope you have a very good time under relatively safe circumstances. For those of us on the other side of the pond the future is an absolute mystery and after Dr Fauci's talk today with congress it's not looking good. His words "We're in for a lot of hurt" are not the words i wanted to hear.

Great for your trip to "Hutt" but look at the mess we have in North America. Her plan still seems short on details . I think it would be helpful to do an actual walk through of what one would expect upon arrival.

The silence is deafening with respect to a workable plan for reopening for the 2021 season.Given the fact that the first wave isn't over ( in my opinion). What will your a resort have to do to make you feel comfortable going forward. At my local bump the push has always been to max out bodies on the slope. Memberships lessons special promotions etc. seems to contradict what needs to happen in the future. Like another moon shot toilets appear to be the fly in the ointment. Ice fishing has never really appealed to me but i guess it's now an option !

I hope your states can get on board too but the same problem exists in Canada. While we listened to science and politicians and allowed the Dr's to call the shots when things looked bad, once thing leveled out there doesn't seem to be an actual plan that defines which way things will go if results are good or bad. Trying to reel in bad behavior has been a problem. The questioning of whether millions of dollars in fines is the right way to control peoples behavior has been a topic of late and i question if you can risk the attack of more institutions of our society given the pressure many institutions are under already. Carrot, Stick or Sledgehammer. Never imagined Science and Politics could become such a divisive subjects with an educated or enlightened society. Is there a neutral third party anywhere in the world who could spell it out to everyone what is happening and needs to happen that everyone would listen to ? Interesting you mention hope because my wife and i had a discussion last nite and i said there can only be hope because hope is just" that". I have hope for next season just no expectation of one that is safe enough to satisfy me. If i lived in Seattle maybe i'd feel differently.
