  1. For me its been that older boards require more driver input, newer boards are far more neutral/damp and require less input yet ride quality is very sharp and defined. I prefer older boards (for now).
  2. Step one is to learn how to cut your toenails properly. Cut them flat, do not round off the edges. Cut them short and then use a file. And cut them regularly so they are used to being short, and not just a few days before a week-long ski trip. If that's not the problem then do what everybody said above. Oh yea, walk barefoot. Id chance it you walk exclusively in shoes for most of the day.
  3. Ill be repeating what some people already said, but... Fluorinated waxes are faster, 0.0001% faster. They are a waste of money for everyday riding and in my opinion the entire ski wax industry is taking the piss when marketing fifty million different low fluoro high fluoro graphite top competition easy on easy off waxes for recreational skiers/snowboarders. These people sell spray waxes for gods sake... You need two/three dedicated temperature waxes (i.e., soft, medium and hard). A huge block of molybdenum universal wax (or graphite) for base cleaning and prep and summer storage. Your time/money should be spent on having the right tools, learning proper technique and waxing your bases after every couple days of use. If you ride offpiste then forget it, it isnt worth the time and money as youll rip up your base anyway, just slap on some universal wax and call it a day. Brushes, since youll be brushing a lot Id spend the time reading and seeing which would be the most comfortable for your hand. I use the oval Toko brushes. It depends what waxes you use, but in the beginning Id get what scrutton mentioned, a brass and stiff nylon brush. Later on Id get a copper and fine steel brush and stop using the brass one. No need for a horsehair fine polishing brush. You need a big snowboard scarper and a small one and a scraper sharpener, you can either buy some fancy tool, a simple plastic sharpener or glue a piece of sandpaper to something 100% flat. What else... gasoline or some wax solvent, you can buy base cleaner but never use it on your base... and of course snowboard vises plus a proper work table. The rest is technique. Thats only waxing btw, how about sharpening? A million more tools to buy then.
  4. Apologies as well, I had to relocate to Germany. My US address is 07922 berkeley heights, nj. Ill PM you but if you dont get my email mine is: sixty-eight-bu-@hotmail.com (please take out the dashes)
  5. If NWboarder bails I'd gladly take them, I desperately need buckles.
  6. I thought it was known by now that Head stopped producing the Stratos Pro's? The few new pairs that are out there are new old stock. If anyone rides em or is thinking about switching over to them, now is the time to buy as they are already quite rare to find in the more common sizes. I think I bought the last pair of new 29.5 HSPs in existence.
  7. Those are the greatest trolls in the history of the internet. The entire Creation Science forum is a goldmine, thanks for the link
  8. Nooooooooooo You didnt tell me the damage was that bad :( Tomek is right, that there was probably the last Volant 173s in existence
  9. Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't the Deeluxe Indy (Raichle AF700) replaced by the Deeluxe 700s? Or are the current Deeluxe 700s in fact based on the Suzukas (Raichle AF600)?
  10. yup, the cable for the second buckle from the top. I think a few bucks for each part here and there is totally fair, just let me know if you can get any of the buckles as thats what I really need. I know theyre riveted, you can just drill them out or try to brutally rip them out, I'll attach them later with a small screw/nut.
  11. Do you have any of the metal buckles? Im taking about these guys: http://www.snowboard.pl/forum/getfile.php?id=3889&rid=22842&a=a Nonetheless, Im interested in the following as Im always on the lookout for spare parts: both pairs of rear heels (one pair appears to be new?) the ankle strap the two teeth 4x of the metal heel blocks, including the screws :) Btw, what are the two red plastic things?
  12. Wow, no one with Swoard experience... Id first say that a Swoard is not only for extremecarving, it was designed for it of couse but considering I used it as beginners board, in powder and as a general everyday carver I consider it pretty versatile. I can be incredibly lazy on it and still have it rail hard. Please do take my opinion with a grain of salt as I am no carving master nor can I extremecarve laying down turn after turn, and the fact that Swoard is now up to Gen4 so my board is a bit dated (its probably 10 years old). I have a 1st gen 175M, which for my 210 pds is a tad too soft but Im happy with it as its easy to ride on ice or chopped up conditions. Nonetheless, its an incredibly fun and stable board, it was a bit difficult to get used to such a width (I normally ride boards 19-20cm wide), but after a few days it became second nature. Anyways, considering how many thousands of Swoards have been sold and how popular the riding style and "philosophy" become in Europe, if you're looking at something similar or a nice wide board, its a good choice :)
  13. Let me get just one thing right, you bought a board in the US and took it personally with you across the border and you... voluntarily declared and paid tax on it?
  14. It'll cost you something like $100 to order new buckles and teeth. Might as well buy new boots.
  15. Drew, the liners that came with the boots you bought from me are NOT heat-moldable. Do not stick them into the oven!! Unless you bought some other liners ??
  16. Im wondering how such a situation looks from a legal point of view because its apparent some people will never except they were at fault nor take responsibility for their actions. Should you file a police report? Or even call the cops? What are the legal requirements to file suit against someone who killed your snowboard?
  17. Also thanks for the review. I have questions :) I just picked up a pair of Dalbello ID Golds in my mondo size, Im wondering: how many times did you remold them to your foot? And how long did it take for them to pack out? Im wondering what the life expectancy might be, btw what boots did you use them in?
  18. Quite honestly, while I agree that using solid metal bindings with a titanal board wasn't the best idea in the world, considering the numerous warnings and examples of doing so over the years, I would hardly call this stupidity or a lack of responsibility. Seriously, if a board is that fragile in this day and age when metal is considered a "standard option" that a binding could make it snap it in two then its something I wouldnt want anyone to ride on. Or at least have the manufacturer clearly declare that all metal baseplate bindings should be avoided (and state that it would void warranty). Of course, you being a SG dealer and calling a customer "stupid" doesn't really earn you or SG any brownie points. 'nuff said. @evnewsphoto, I think if you read the SG warranty on their website it specifically states that any boards with titanal are not covered. Sounds to me like your board and money are toast.
  19. Insane. I'll be in France next week at Les 3 vallees and even at 2300m its plus 2 degrees Celsius right now!!
  20. In situations where there is a slight chance of me losing my iphone, i.e. snowboarding, i always turn on the lock option where you have enter a code. im sure everyone has lots of data, email or other sensitive info that in the wrong hands could be disastrous.
  21. I have a pair of Blax / Head Stratos size 23.5 (euro 37). Used, have the usual scratches and scuffs. They have the newer Countour Fit liners that are half heat-moldable, they accept intec heels and BTS. $150 shipped, but I can work with the price and can include a pair of intec heels if needed. If you need more pics or info, let me know
  22. Ive got a pair of Blax Head Toni boots mondo 29.5, I use 29.5 shells but these are slightly smaller, I think they're more 29.0. they are in great condition and they accept intec heels. I could sell them for $100 plus shipping which would be about $60 (itd be from the EU), you'd get them in about 6 days. im open with the price, let me know if interested.
