I started hardbooting on the Donek (Ax) before Sean changed the name at 220 lbs and I'm still rippin' it the last few years at 200. Great board and I'm sure this newer one is even better. Kipp

Make a trip to Powder Mountain, well worth the drive! They limit the number of passes sold so it's nice and quite most week days for sure. Park City doesn't have the elevation so you have to watch the temps, the bottom half of the mountain can get a little warm that time of year.

If it were graphite construction I'd be more tempted.

The father and visionary of Powder Mountain, Dr. Alvin F. Cobabe passed away peacefully this morning, September 13th, 2017 at the age of 99 in his home in Eden, Utah. Dr. Cobabe, recognized as a renaissance man, was the oldest graduate from the University of Utah School of Medicine ever before 1959. He was also known locally as rancher, family doctor and radio technician, but most notably known for building a powder paradise for skiing aficionados. After selling the family ranching business in 1952, Dr. Cobabe still owned thousands of acres of mountainous terrain that family and friends enjoyed. While horseback riding with friends along the famed Lightning Ridge in the late 1950’s, someone casually mentioned that the terrain would make a great ski resort. The idea rang true with Dr. Cobabe and he began to amass adjacent property adding to the thousands acquired from his father. After a decade of hard work, Powder Mountain Resort opened on February 19, 1972. Dr. Cobabe’s vision was a place for families and friends to enjoy the best skiing on earth, while keeping the sport accessible for all. He was also forward thinking, by running shuttles and Snowcats for skiers and the first resort in Utah to allow snowboarding. Dr. Cobabe, to this day, still inspires Powder Mountain with his vision and forward thinking. “This is Powder Mountain. Once you have tasted of its magic you will want to return again and again and become part it.” Alvin F. Cobabe M.D. Dr. Cobabe will be greatly missed by his Powder Mountain family and we will all be thinking of him when we ski, ride, bike or hike Cobabe Canyon, Dr. C. and all the other terrain he knew sports enthusiasts of all types would enjoy. I met him when I worked there the winter of 82-83 he was a very pleasant man. Thank you Dr. Cobabe for creating a kingdom better than Walt's.

The yoga that I've been doing lately has been paying off, this is a level 3 move with the only negative side effect is that I can't produce children for an entire month afterwards.

I love spring conditions when snow conditions change every run.

Incredible ride! After a few runs I found the muscle to stay forward and spent the day slamming turns, unreal hold. Tightened up turns to feeling way tighter than the 12 that it says on the board. Well behaved and by the middle of the day this big Donek felt like it was floating on a layer of air in the transitions, exactly what I was looking for. Thank you, very happy with the board. I'm waiting on a payment from Homer, not sure of the age of the boot but they are in excellent condition. My Heads are holding up well and they have 10-11 seasons at 35 trips per season. I'll post an update as soon as I receive payment.

Funny that you mention Wong, I have a nice vest I wear with this design.

When Backcountry Magazine is on your mountain testing skis for their gear test issue and some of the best skiers around are here and you want to take a little poke at them for their archaic manner of getting down the mountain. I did ski once upon a time so I do appreciate the turns they make but I've never seen one of them turning and looking like the earth is falling away from them, a feeling I get multiple times every run. I love riding up with them and when they ask about my snowboard I answer with the joy of a child on a brand new bicycle, "that's my Monster!" Archaic may be a little harsh but I do love a word that begins with ARC, I'll just say I believe skiing is as retro as the jacket. Kipp

SOLD ! Excellent condition, purchased for my son who wears a 9 1/2 and these were small for him. I would say they are 8 1/2 to 9 depending on sock thickness. (26.5-27)

About 11 years ago in my 4th year of riding hardboots I was coming down the hill under the lift with snow conditions far from perfect for carving and each turn I was fighting my board as it bucked and kicked on every bump and I was working hard to make big round smooth turns. From above on the lift there was someone yelling something at me so I stopped and the guy yells down “That looks boring” By far the best compliment I’ve received.

Got overly excited and forgot that I'm going to stay in the 170-175 range, I do love longer boards while riding but getting tired of trying to unload off the quad with 3 other people. Good luck and thanks for the information. Kipp
