pmorita
Yesterday was 60 degrees and the mashed potatoes formed quickly. Other than avoiding brown spots, any advice on equipment or technique for carving up cake batter?
johnasmo
Board choice - opposite of ice day; go longer and stiffer, less torsionally rigid (if that's a choice in your quiver). Don't try to touch the snow. Keep knees bent to suck up the chop. Most of all, don't worry about perfect carves. Slarve, carve, ski rhythm, whatever, just enjoy the soft snow.
dredman
What @johnasmo and weight from your front foot through the tail, keep the nose light. Boards that you can tighten up turns on the tail help also.
bigwavedave
Agree, longer is better for smoothing out the chop and for distributing the weight of your footprint to keep you from sinking too deep. Feels more like surfing, where you're turning more on the decambered base of the board than the sidecut of the edge.
barryj
Keep it on edge and slice through it! My slop and chop choice is my Swoard Dual II 168 ......and bring some rub on Jet wax to counter the corn burning your wax off after a few runs! Pat Donnelly
My preference is to ride a powder board when mashed potatoes are served up.
lowrider
In less than ideal conditions a plate will help. I did not know west coasters rode in mashed potatoes. I thought it was only the east coasters visiting the west coast after the west coasters had called it a season !

lowrider
Last Thursday last run of the season @ Red Mt B.C. last 500 feet was mush thought of doing one more but did not want to chance snapped or bent knees.
