166 Contra with ~10m sidecut and 23.5cm waist width. Yes, I did ask for a copy of @bigwavedave's board 🙂

I'm hoping this would be a softboot replacement board for all mountain riding.

It should be perfect!

I only got about 5 runs, mostly on firm, crusty groom with some ice and using my hard set-up (don't tell Bruce).. I had to make some turns on it  before the season ended, even though it wasn't the conditions it was designed for. I was able to carve pretty hard with great edge hold, even on the icy patches.

I rode the 185 version in about 6" of fresh over soft groom and I think it's gonna be pretty nice in deeper, softer stuff. :biggthump

The first time I saw 2001 at the "Cinerama", it kind of freaked me out when Hal started talking to me. Even that blue version makes me feel a little uneasy.

🙂

Bruce told me I'd like it. He hasn't lied to me yet! I'm even contemplating hitting up ABasin if it opens up this season. That would be a good dilemma to have!

The blue one is SAL9000 from 2010 A Space Odyssey. It came out way better than the picture shows. It has a lot of meaning for me that are way nerdier than this forum can handle 😄  And there's also PAL9000 and VAL9000 I just need to get more cookies together!

It's not my board. That's the photo Mark sent me before he shipped it to the U.P.  It was supposed to be available for me to demo.

It's a  CC+,  a modification of his CC design, optimized for handling softer snow and powder, but still being a good carver.

Very similar specs; 165 length with a powder nose, 23.5 waist and 10-ish scr.

Mark was working on a similar design for me to try, but it didn't make it out to the U.P. before the Corona shut down.

An all terrain for soft or hard boots...

This is interesting.... Comparing the 174 NFCB to the 166 Contra

The NFCB has significantly more camber and a much lower nose. Hard to see but it is also somewhat stiffer and thicker than the Contra. I have a feeling the Contra will be a pow slayer!

That was kinda the idea with the AT. Carve and surf. It carves great and I have a good feeling about how it will be in softer, deeper stuff.

I might hike up and try surfing some slush tomorrow.

Update: It's great slush surfer/carver. Deftly does shallow, floaty, swishy turns on top of the slush, which I did where coverage looked thin. But did very nice smooth surfy carves in the deeper slush. I'm using a very soft and flexy hardboot/binding setup (Raichle 413's/ F2 carve RS). I think it works better with this board than a more rigid boot/binding setup.

Honestly, the NFCB does surprisingly well in powder. I had it in 6” of CO fluff and it floated just fine. This thing looks like it can float anything!

 This summer will be loooooooong!

my NFCB floats just as well too.
