Show them your vid on this board Dave

This popped into my head with this quote.

The segmented sidecut makes no sense to me either. But the first time I rode @Shred GruumerWobbly Goblin, I felt something really good in the edge hold characteristics. The Contra line also has some great characteristics. Why not combine the two?

The whole point is to come up with boards that widen the range of what I consider “fun riding” conditions. When I think back to the Factory Prime days, the window of fun riding conditions was pretty narrow. This latest generation of boards has the widest array of conditions that perform well in and are fun!  There is not the perfect board for all conditions. When conditions are closer to the good groom part of the spectrum, traditional variable SCR boards are a giggle fest.

We’re very fortunate to have these great custom board makers to dance to our whims or visaversa, Coiler, Thirst, Donek, et al!

Great vid and nice carving. Now why can I still not get that great angulation? Last Wednesday I really worked hard on it and did make some respectable turns. As Chris Klug stated no matter what you have to do you must get that board way up on edge...just do it!

actually super easy , the fastest way for buying a Japanese snowboard is from rakuten japan, basically a Japanese Amazon!

There is a website call rakuten global express, they will handle the shipping and they had well explain everything on their website. there are also tons of YouTube video teaching you how buy stuff from rakuten japan.

Buying a snowboard is the same as you buying anything else from Japan. Shipping to the US is around $250, depends on what carrier you use UPS package usually only take 4 days to get to the US after it ship out.

as long as you have a credit card label with visa or master card you payment should go through.

PM me if you still have questions.

You'd think those guys would get a native English speaker to proof their copy.  They have boards in the "freestyle categoly" or the "carving categoly"...

As has been discussed before, all of their soft boot boards have pretty narrow waists, even the "Lovebuzz" which seems to be their entry in the volume-shifted all-mountain category.  Also I note none of their specs include a weight recommendation.  I suspect I'm too fat for a Japanese board.

Can one see the segmented sidecut?

What is it anyway?

Yes, each straight segment is about 7-10cm long. I do not recall what sidecuts it has. 17ish, 20ish waist, turns like a 11-12m SCR board. Might have some VSR. I am not entirely sure. @Shred Gruumer might be able to chime in on the Wobbly. He is the master mind of this quirky and brilliant design. I am just lucky enough to have it now. It is SUPER damp and positive underfoot.

Looking forward for the review of that nice board Jack....

Looks like the guys at Winterstick can build boards with full length/width sheet of titanal instead of inlays as before, right ?...

.3  .4  or .5 titanal on that one ?

Have a fun ride !

It was great!  I was skeptical but I'm really surprised how quickly they got up to speed with full metal construction!  Correct, 2 full length/width sheets.  They are using 0.3 Titanal.  Flex is spot on, and in perfect harmony with the camber and sidecut.  The ride has all the characteristics we have come to expect from metal construction - buttery smooth, edge hold, torsional stiffness, leg-saving.  Personally if I were to order a 162 I would want 9-12-11 for that SL hook.  This 9-11-12 reminds me more of a 168.  That said, the strictly progressive sidecut cruises better than my hookier F2 Proto SL, and allows more speed.

Put Winterstick on your list!  Recommended!

Having met Rob Lu

He's a true engineer and a great rider.  I put him on my UPZs and Kessler 168 last year and he took right off.  He gets it.

I’ve got a demo SC right inside my front door and I’m stuck here on Maui just waiting for a chance to get back to Crystal to try it out.
From Mark’s description on his site it sounds like the SC might fit my needs even better than my XC 171 which, along with my 172 Contra, I like very much. From my very first turn (it was a heelside) on my XC my first thought was, this is a totally different animal altogether. Maybe it was grippy snow, I don’t know, but it felt good and it still feels good. It has helped me advance a little and that is welcome.

I found a nice board to compliment these boots. They look and work great together. So far ride is phenomenal! Perfect for narrow and crowded runs. Nickname the "Mad Pumpkin". Donek Metal FC 163 19 waist 7.5 -9.5 SCR. with F2 Titanium bindings.

If it were mine, I'd call it the Flaming Jack-O'-Lantern.

That's a bit long for a nickname. lol. Color scheme is called evil orange. All my boards have short and sweet names so my buddies know which stick I'm riding that day.

Picture was taken at a slight angle to board so bindings look like there's overhang but that's not the case.

Holy Solstice!!

We had 3+ inches of moist snow overnight and today. Spirit Mt is closed M & T, so it's an opportunity to make some fresh tracks if you're willing to work for it (plus there's nobody there ). It was also an opportunity for me to try the new Thirst swallowtail, and...it works! Sure, I could have ridden any carving board, cause it wasn't that deep, but, my oh my, some of the best turns of the season so far! It was leftover ungroomed snow underneath. It just floated over and sliced through any underlying crud making sweet, smooth turns. Plus it doesn't hurt to have a diagram of how to make nice tracks inlayed into the topsheet. :biggthump Thanks Mark, I think I'm keeping it, but you can ride it if you make it out here this winter. 😉

The review section needs your Thirsty ravings. Make me jealous. I'm in midsummer, with a new Thirst Superconductor burning a hole in its' sock in my garage.

@bigwavedave that is one good looking board. Love that top sheet design. I have always had a thing  for veneered topsheets. Started way back in the 90’s when Burton had a few boards with it, FreeSurf and then Arbor. Mats Alpinepunk had some nice looking boards as well.  Oh and don’t get me started about Wintersticks wood topsheets, so hot. Ok, ok, I have some issues🙄
