It's still raining.... Ug this weather... wind was howling from the east which is unusual. the high winds and rain are going to mess things up. buck opens at noon (unusual). i'm going to drive over there sometime before they open to see if its worth it. temps are low enough for grooming... ice cubes. this warm weather years are getting to the point where i think i need a new hobby. bobble
12/26/16 late morning groom. snow was chopped up by the groomer. okay on skis. not so much on carve broad. on milkrun there were chunks of ice. half of crossroads as roped off for ski teams. Rant 1 the neveplast sounds like nails on chalkboard. my board doesn't slide well on neveplast. at the bottom of both lifts the neveplast surface was bare for more than an hour. I would walk the board rather than slide it. eventually someone threw snow on top. Rant 2 the new tow rope is messing up the backside run. it's really unfortunate because it's a great cruiser run. there are too many kids sitting across the run waiting their turn to hit a rail. Buck should rope off the rails so we can see them. in flat light they're difficult to see. move them closer to the tow so others can get by. otherwise someone is going to get seriously hurt. better yet, get rid of them now that the rail yard us open. DonPablo
12/27/16 I road in the evening, snow was hard, mini grand cannons in some spots but overall was smooth to carve on the lift side of crossroads, a bit icy but the board held well. Not a day to learn how to snowboard... Probably a few people with bruised tail bones out there.

Probably a few people with bruised tail bones out there. i rode yesterday too. snow was hard. very fast. crossroads had race practice so half the run was inaccessible. then milkrun was rutted up too from them practicing near the tower. the run near the rail yard is crappy snow. i'm not liking the new terrain park in front of the clock tower. they put up snow fences with SLOW DOWN near the new tow rope building. when i head down from the top i might get 2-3 turns where run opens up wide and then i have to stop??? perfectly good cruiser run now worthless. bobble
12/28/16 went this morning, snow marginally better. softened due to temp rising into the 30's but there are areas where it feels like riding across a hump full of rocks. same as yesterday. ski teams took up olympic, half crossroads and rutted up milkrun. they also rutted warners way adjacent to olympic. i'm shaking my head about red tail ridge. there is plenty of room out in the rail yard for more rails. crowds were bad. long lift lines with people on rentals. i had to be patient with the kiddos. when i left around noon there was a very long line at the ticket office. and then this... the wtf-mobile... (never thought i'd see this IRL... usually see this on reddit)
DonPablo
Yea, that's shitty about red tail ridge, and I don't think that stuff is going to leave since they have the tow rope there now :(

bobble
12/30/16 crowds. only memorable thing and it went like this... got on the chairlift with another skier. skier: so how's your morning? me: snow is okay but light is too flat. skier: yeah it is definitely flat. doesn't help when ski teams take up the run [motions to the run]. me: i know and it is only getting crowded. skier: that's why i have a season pass so i can come and go. me: me too. you live around here? skier: i live just a couple miles from here. me: so do i. where do you live? skier: you know where Summit Oaks is? me: yeah, i live just south of there. so you're right behind Davanni's? me: so... i have to ask, is there any truth to the rumor that Ernie Hudson lives in your neighborhood? skier: ha! yes and some other crazies too. bobble
12/31/16 early morning. no ski team practice! runs wide open. really good snow (except warner's and olympic). started out with flat light that ended in super nova. for a new years eve morning, it didn't seem too crowded. just me and erik. rumor has it that the new terrain park *might* be taken down. there have been complaints about it. Scott.Creer
1/1/2017 - 9am - Bobble and I were ripping fresh cord. Here is the proof we were there. Played with a few different gopro mounts. Short video of Bobble: https://youtu.be/htvVUGJ9bBk (not sure why embedding is disabled for this one. <7 minute video of all the different mounts and fun (windows movie maker downgraded quality quite a bit, need a different program): At about 10 we were joined by Kent. Great times! Best way to start off 2017! Edited January 1, 2017 by Scott.Creer
bobble
1/1/17 New Years Day "All is quiet on New Year's Day, A world in white gets underway..." yep. obligatory walk up the run for first tracks. what drives me to walk up the run is to see the look of disappointment from the skiers on first chair when i come carving down the run. #FirstTracks #MustPlayToWin awesome day! blue sky. temp in mid 20's. not too crowded. scott and myself almost had the run exclusively to ourselves. ... and then kent showed up. @scott what did i tell you about GoPro face! i like the boot POV shooting upward of you toggling back and forth. if only it didn't shake. wonder if someone can 3D print a mount for bomber bindings? here's the video i was talking about. the rider has a pole on his back. feel bad for the kids who bring these to the hill.

bobble
1/6/17 went out on skis. the runs were groomed from after running snow guns. unfortunately the areas where the guns were pointed was icy. at the very top of Crossroads it was ice with loose ice gravel. the groom was sub standard. ridges and divots. Milkrun was ok but there were some hard spots close to the tower. Warners was good. Edited January 6, 2017 by bobble Can't spell

DonPablo
1/7/17 Typical mid season conditions, cold, hard packed and pretty fast. I guess when they were putting in the Nevaplast they lost some of the hill up to the right of start house on Milk Run, it's a little thinner up there now. They also lost some of the steepness coming outta the start house which makes being on a board more difficult than it already was.
DonPablo
Ate at the new Black Diamond restaurant, definitely recommend the Mexican menu over the American. Had the tamale of the day and the corn on the cob. Both were yummy, the corn was pretty spicy. Patti had the burrito bowl which she liked but a bit on the spicy side.
