New New board porn 2012

New Coilers. Plankenstein Squared, and Horny.

The Plank is based off Shred's borad with a slightly squarer nose. Why more people don't own this board is surprizing. For a long, wide board, it turns super easy. 188, 23 cm waist, 13 m SCR blend (I think...)

Second is Horny, This is a board Shred dreamed up and he let me get it built by Bruce 170 20 cm waist, 13 SCR blend (I think....)

The black board still has the protective cover sheet, It has the gloss black ghost flame topsheet (sick)

I'm in Vail right now I wish it was winter.

So Tinkler went with the sliding component actually being the plate. It's an option that most of the plate makers will have considered. I certainly did, and then discarded it on the basis of controlling the wear on the plate, especially the wear due to lateral forces between plate and pins and the necessity to keep the sliding portions away from the bindings.

If Mike Tinkler sees this can he comment or explain how he dealt with this potential issue, please.

I think you will see more of the results of the on snow testing in the coming months. Or, if you are up at Timberline you might see them in action sooner:eplus2: I was the first to ride his latest Plate system and I think it is going to definitely turn some heads.

Ulalalalala, today I received a Skype call from Frank at Virus. He just finished my new Black Death III “Slayer”… and I saw it!!!!!

I am, just by seeing it via Skype totally, absolutely f*()*cking speechless :smashfrea

Geez, it has been quite some time that I got so excited to finally see (and ride off course!!!) my new board. Since I am not at all worried about the fact how this baby will ride, duh!!! :D I am at this point just drooling all over myself on the simple fact how it looks :o

I saw quite some design statements leaving the Virus factory lately, but this one, OMG! Sure, design is always personal taste, but you’ll see for yourself and tell me if I am wrong here. I will pick it up probably over the weekend and take some pics next week, so stay tuned...

:lurk:

OMG, just the thought alone that the flex might not be right for me and that this baby falls in other hands, no no no, don’t… aaarrgghhhhh… :barf:

my god, that bd virus is a sick piece of art. price tag on that?

super rad coilers too! any significant performance attributes to the horny cut outs or primarily aesthetic? very cool. a bit suggestive of guitar cut outs; makes me want a bc rich variation; aggressively angular and METAL.

odd to be cruising this forum now that summer has decidedly arrived...

Who the f... cares how it rides? As long as it looks good.

Mine is on the way as well. Bit wider though. Gladiator II Zylon Evo III. Pictures will follow.

14-30m SCR Bamboo Donek with a nice matte carbon topsheet and a bangin chrome mud flap girl on the tail is in the incubation process. Hope this one makes it past the censors unlike the now retired General Lee. Also looking forward to a hard boot specific split of the new powder shape Sean and I worked on this past season. The push for this deck other than fantastic on snow performance in the widest possible allowable conditions is to be as light as possible without a huge sacrifice in durability. Lots of carbon and other lightening techniques to be incorporated in this one. A "race weight" unit also in the works.

I will never forget the day I had some years back on Bordys Silly Good. What an amazing ride but it was limited in wanting to do only city block sized turns and no other, put in a very broad but super usable variable side cut and wamo, options are abundant in the turn dept. The General was unbelievably good, best I have ever had the pleasure to ride, I am hoping this next board is even better.

I have no problem turning the silly good in a half block:-P

Wish I had one up here at hood right now, there is plenty of room to let that, thing run right now and with the soft snow it would be nice to have the nose length

Cheers,

Ray

There you go.

It was in 2007 when i rode the original Gladiator for the first time. What can I say: It was love at first sight. I ordered one taylor made to my needs and my weight. Back then, this was the best alpine board I could ever ride. Totally infected I wanted more: Sold the Gladi and got a Berserker Zylon. Great ride, could do the same as the Gladi but needs a lot of speed. The Berserker is therefore a bit more limited. I added a Pureboarding Bastard and a Virus UFC narrow to the quiver. But still there was the Gladi somewhere in the back of my head - still the echo of: "The best board I have ever ridden". Now Virus came up with something a new sexy piece.

Virus Gladiator II Zylon Evo III.

I couldn't resist!

176cm length, 17cm waist, variable sidecut, camembert nose, 3d zylon carbon construction. Different to the first Gladiator is the little tailkick, which i appreciate very much.

Pic quality is not so super. Just some quick shots with the mobile. The board is still on the other side of the Atlantic, while I am sitting here.

@Pogo: Buying a Virus Gladiator II Zylon Evo III + living in Curacao = decadence

How worse can this get?

A man has to do, what a man has to do!

I have a "Schirmbar" shaped beach bar near my house. Let's see how the board works out there. I'll send pix as soon as I have it here.

And yes, I have ordered a double package of Zylon Suncscreen Butter. Got a good deal on it.
