AMK
I don't think I signed up for that type of alpine snowboarding or I must be learning the other type of alpine ...... some less dangerous. Beside that I don't know what I'm doing that sounds crazy.
jp1
I hope 'Ski Resorts' don't rely on information like that as to reference what Alpine Snowboarding is !
BobD
I don't do back country, but I always thought the most important safety precaution was training, and practice with the equipment. http://www.snowboardinghelp.com/miscellaneous/the-ultimate-snowboarding-danger.php

BlueB
Can we do a very polite letter, ellectronically signed by as many of our members as possible, with a separate section for industire's pros signatures, demanding the change of the article? With the letter, we could attach our version of the article, maybe the one from Wiki... Thats letter should be sent simultaniously to Mr Jelling and the owners of the faqs.org . Michael Pukas
Shouldn't this be in the off-topic section?

BlueB
Shouldn't this be in the off-topic section? Not at all - it's directly connected to alpine and pretty important. If this is the #1 hit on google, we are in trouble. How can we jack up the Bomberonline to come 1st? Bob, That's why I said to the owners of that FAQS site too, to put the pressure from all sides. Jack M
Shouldn't this be in the off-topic section? Um, this is the alpine snowboarding forum, right?
Jack M
Clarification - this is the google hit if you type in Alpine Snowboard FAQ. If you just type in Apline Snowboarding, BOL is the first hit after Wikipedia (the entry for which I believe Jack wrote). I started it. It's been wikified and edited several times since then. Someone even deleted the part about alpine snowboarding technically pre-dating freestyle.
BlueB
Well, only on Google does it do this, and really, who would type in FAQs if they're looking for info on alpine snowboarding? Ah, I didn't see the "FAQ" part when I first red Jack's post. You are probbably right.

Jack M
and here it is again... complete with pic of a North-Face-onesie-wearing-asym-riding-twelve-sandwich-eating dork with his knees tucked. trailertrash
I think if you read that article and can't tell it is worthless you shouldn't really be on an alpine board anyway.
BlueB
Unfortunatelly, there is more :( Type "Jakob Jelling alpine" in Google.
Puddy Tat
Yeah when reading that article I felt like I had read it, or parts of it, before. I think many of the lines exist, or have been pulled from, other articles. Apparently I need to adjust my stance angles. Though going down to 35 degrees is going to result in some serious toe drag, especially with the 16cm waisted board I'm going to have to purchase and ride. Good news for Ace! This article should generate some more interest in the Virus he's selling. Dave
AMK
That man likes to write. I don't think you can stop him. Even if it's lots of bla bla and he seams to be all over the places. Unfortunately.
