nice soft groomers after yesterdays huge dump of a foot or so as i'm told,

had to work yesterday (suck!!!). last night there was the christmas stroll,

free wine here and there and later for some beers, so not in the best

shape today and took it easy. with the weekend warriors and the soft

snow it got bumped up pretty fast. should have brought the softies as

there were still plenty powder. hellroaring basin opened today and i bet

it was good, oh well still had fun! rode my fp171 from 9am till 1pm...

had to work today, but got cut loose about 11am. so up to the big, i know

it was going to be a soggy mess, but also knew there was some new pow.

the higher up you were the better, the backside had softer snow, the top

part was pretty good, but as you got lower it was very wet. people from

chair 1 were pretty soggy as they got off the lift. as i left around 3:30

it was raining in the village. my last run going thru chair 3 it was really wet

and very sticky. i hate to say it, but it's like spring conditions with this

big pacific front. anyways, found some soft powder and had a blast.

rode my amp5 softies from 1pm till 3pm...

what a soggy mess!!! got a late start, knew it wasn't going to be any

good. everything got soaked, top to bottom, backside was wet and

heavy. frontside groomers were wet cement, the seams had some

deep grooves, very dangerous conditions. should have stayed home

and tomorrow i will not go. only did one run down chair 2 and two runs

down the backside. it was icy rain on top and rain in the village.

it will take some colder temps and more snow till the big heals itself.

rode my fp157 from 10 till 11:30...

i must be livin right, after mondays break down with warm temps and

rain, wenesday and thursday dumps enough to heal the concrete and

friday night temps cool down to dry the snow. funny day today, chair 2

was perfect groomers, just a tad on the firm side, but great! chair 1

was brutal high winds with minus degree wind chills from the north.

toni matt was polished ice cause the winds blew any loose snow off the

surface. had a really fun day on chair 2, smooth carving surface, you

guys should have been here. weekend warriors made it a little challenging,

families with young kids and ski school and everybody bombing with the

fast conditions. it was pretty cold today probably in the single digits.

met up with "new dave" and did a few laps. rode my fp171 from 9 till 3...

started with the sun trying to peak thru the first few hours, then snow.

chair 2 is the place to be as the snow is firm and perfect. there were

three snow making machines on lower eds so kinda messed up the end

of my run. really great snow, the kind were you can really push it.

went up to the summit for a break and was really cold up there, so back

down to eds. had a great day today. rode my fp171 from 9 till 1pm...

wasn't up to the task today, there were alot of sketchy spots with

polished ice with powdered sugar on top. so spent today crusing around

carving here and there, taking it easy. the day started with some clouds

then overcast then the sun came out in the afternoon. still it was a fun

day. we need more new snow. rode my fp171 from 9am till 1pm...

inversion with blue skies on the big, comfortable temps on top. hasn't

snowed for almost a week and things are getting hardpack. doesn't

get bumped up, just gets lite powder skied off. forcast is more snow

next week so should get better. rode my rsfp167 from 9am till 3pm...

ho! ho! ho! merry christmas!!! didn't get my white christmas, but had a

great day anyways. with valley inversions it was warmer on the top of

the big. no new snow in the last week, getting buffed out smooth. the

warm temps from the sun softened the snow just enough. had a great

day today. rode my rsfp167 from 9am till 3pm...

it was a very crowed day, it's the holidays. should get a big dump on

wenesday then cool down by the weekend. today a little cloudy and some

lite snow then the sun came out in the late afternoon. a little fustrating

today with people of all levels on the hill. oh well!, still had some good

moments. rode my 160 speed from 9 till 1...

woke up to 4 inches here in town and there were 5 to 6 of kinda wet

snow. did a few runs that was great. 3rd chair on chair 2 and bombed

eds, then about 6th chair on chair 1, bombed toni matt, untracked

creamy butter, sweet! didn't stay to long, with the powder hounds

and the holiday crowd, it was the busiest i have seen all season.

forcast for tomorrow is alot more snow. rode my amp5 softies from9 till 12...

started lite snow kinda humid foggy on top down to top of chair 2.

rime on the goggles and fog made it challenging. snowed all day which

added to the two inch overnight, very lite fluffy stuff, but still got

bumppy. the groom underneath was nice and even, very smooth.

rode a new to me old yellow 178 speed, really good length and flex,

had a great time on it. rode my yellow 178 speed from 9 till 1...

well!, big dave reported 10 inches overnight so all the powderhounds were

out as well as the weekend warriors, made for a busy day. rode my softies

and rode with my skier friends and rode places that i normally don't go.

must have dumped last night cause there were only a few inches on top

of the groom. off piste there were knee deep pow. heard yesterday was

warm and wet and dumping all day. the snow was really soft and smooth,

hard to explain it but, it was easy to push it around, had a surfy feel to it.

should start to cool down all next week. i hope it doesn't snow cause

when this gets groomed down and the cold temps are here the groomers

will be in perfect shape on monday and tuesday, my next days off.

rode my amp5 softies from 9 till 1...

got cut loose from work around 11:15 so up to the big. got on snow about

12:30pm, high winds from the north, so stayed on chair2. as you got to

the bottom of upper mullys the wind was in your face and really cold.

the groomers were really hardpack and wet and the wind blown parts were

icy. it was carvable, but almost on the edge of being too icy. there was a

high thin overcast that filtered the sun so visibility was good. forcast is

for temps to drop tonight so maybe it will dry the snow and it will be

better tomorrow. rode my fp171 from 12:30 till 3...

Ok, so I'm assuming for you somewhat local folks (by that I mean the ones that are driving here and staying, not flying in opposed to the truely local folks who ride Whitefish regularly) that plans are starting to come together for this annual gathering. I'd love to get an idea who is going to be there and when. Kram and Schweitzer people? Steve Pro? Calgary people?

I will be making the 3 hour drive after work on Saturday (get off work around 2:30pm), riding Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, then heading home Tuesday night to make it work early on Wednesday.

Come on guys.... don't wait until last minute.... lets hear those plans!
