Someone posted this vid in another forum. I remember it vividly along with the stoke that it gave me for snowboarding! Enjoy:

just added a few grabs from 1987 too

Notice how impressively perfect are the trajectories, due to alpine set ups compare to today's freeride wipers turns...Again, regis's boots and bindings are just impressive ( seems soo weak)...

From Canon Surf 1

( my love for swallowtails comes from that movie :)

I've got to agree with Nils. It was great being on the mountain when if you saw a fellow rider, you'd give 'em a wave. Kinda like being in a special club. Funny thing is, it doesn't seem that long ago!

Maybe that's partly why I'm drawn to hard boots now. Damn few of us out there.

you kidding fluo years were great fun and good vibes..

N

Nils,

all old people think that good-old-times were good and so cool, same goes here

Same will happen when these todays jibbers think this time after some twenty year then they remember how cool all stuff was in good old "what-ever-they-call-it-time" :)

You guys bring up a very good point that I completely missed.

I suppose given the choice between be associated with jibbers versus the standing on the tail years (although, my late 80s Hot has the bindings quite far forward) the old school seems best!

omg, totally!

and ya know, even though I was only 13 at the time, I knew the shot of the chick folding the gum into her mouth was hot for some reason, and now I know why!

100% agree. Those were different times. ANYONE you saw on a snowboard was an instant friend, you'd wait at the top or bottom for them and go for a few runs together.

Now most snowboarders are too busy portraying a 'tough' image to worry about such things. Not hardbooters.

.... in many ways I'm glad I wasn't yet born...

......

listen here youngster I remember back when we had to go cut down our own trees to make snowboards out of, and then we would to walk three miles in 14 foot deep drifts to go to our own mtn cuz we weren't allowed on the big hill, and then.......

Theo - it was actually a much simpler and more elegant time in many ways.

Quiver my butt. You had one board. You rode it everywhere. One pair of boots.

That hurt.

And as others have said everyone on a board was your friend.

for the retro vibe

Snowboarding was my "new drug" and still is in many ways. The one that many of your friends were scared to try. Of course I was proselytizing like crazy about how cool it was. How great it felt and .......now we have gang banger wannabes and people who don't know how to pull up their pants.

Dangit anyways.

I'm going back. Except for the feet.
