Neil Gendzwill
Any reason why they used the boxer engine rather than the inline 4 which is considerably stronger and doesn't have the problem of scraping valve covers in the corners? Gecko
Neil, I'm guessing this is the latest version of the Boxer cup bike...they've been pushing a 1 design bike racing series for a number of years now.
Allee
Am I the only person that finds BMW's bikes dingo ugly? I've never seen one I liked. Ducatis and a lot of the Japanese models, yes ... BMW's no. Shrug.
Justin A.
Am I the only person that finds BMW's bikes dingo ugly? I've never seen one I liked. Ducatis and a lot of the Japanese models, yes ... BMW's no. Shrug. No, you're not. I don't particularly care for them either. That one looks pretty good though, better than their other offerings IMO. Rob Stevens
I'd be proud to have tarmac scratches on the valve cover guards.
Jack M
Any reason why they used the boxer engine rather than the inline 4 which is considerably stronger and doesn't have the problem of scraping valve covers in the corners? Tradition. Same reason Ducati makes and races V-twins. This bike's "wings" appear a bit higher than the previous S. I read a couple years ago that they were considering inverting the engine to gain clearance, maybe they finally did that. Also, have you seen the K bikes in person? They're a mile long. Weird design with the lay-forward I-4.

bobdea
yeah, like it could, you know, turn and stuff I don't get all these meatheads who have custom bikes built that perform worse than stock bikes from the 60's I guess they like the bling factor I guess. AlexJ
Actually the Hellcat has gotten some very good reviews in its handling capabilities. I just read a review on it, and everything about the handling was very positive. Granted it is no GSXR or the likes but it is very competent. But I agree must builders today that call themselves CUSTOM have no clue about handling or performance. They are not even custom builders all they do is recreate an out of date design with no performance innovations. The guys doing the hellcat are actually innovative in their designs. tex1230
confederate has some innovative dasigns...the wraith and the renovatio are two of the most interesting ideas I have seen in motorcycle design. Granted you can't touch these bikes for under $50k, but if you've got the $$$ to blow, I guess it's like buying a Tinkler board... GeoffV
I actually don't mind the looks of BMW's new super bike, but then again I'm one of the few that liked the Aprillia Futura that has similar lines. The only thing I don't care for is the nose, looks like some cartoon alien . Jack the K bike does look super long, it's a nice machine and so is their naked one. I'm usually not a fan of BMW bikes but some of them are starting to grow on me. Jack I still want to hit 2nd Wind in NH this season and demo a 800, I'm very curious how the 800 will ride compared to my 675 since that was on my "buy list".
