No victories for Johnasmo, Sqwallguy or myself. We did have a great time though. It was not weather your Mom would want you out playing in the pond but we did not tell them.

Johnasmo had a very short skim - heelside edge hook - swimming in round one. He still had a smile on his face after he changed clothes.

Sqwall guy had 2 beautiful crossings but in the 3rd round lost his speed and simply sunk.

I made it to the final round then had a bobble that cost me some speed to leave me short of placing.

So in the end we all went swimming.

We are already plotting for next years event....maybe a Coiler Skimmer?

Hey Paul,Looks like your timing was impecable as usual......I'd drop some line on ya if I wasn't on a snowy mountain myself, just remember you and your credit card can do anyting!Al

...have made it to the Big Mtn this year. Looks like Dr D. has a good crew to keep him company. Hey, how about meeting us all there in Jan '09?

Dr. D, sorry to hear about the back. Stay off the skateboards for a while, I wouldn't want you to miss next seasons triumphant return!

Dredman.... Thanks for keeping the "Big Mtn" spirit alive. Great photo's from the pond Skimming!

Dave, nice work merging the pond skimming pictures. Doing that never even occurred to me. Guess there was a silver lining to swimming in round one and getting back behind my camera. Hmm... Coiler Skimmer? Maybe we can get Shred to design one for us, but is a stubby nose appropriate in the pond?

Final snow numbers for Big Mtn:

426 inches of snow at the summit; a new record (and it's their 60th year)!

132 inches settled snow depth at the summit on closing day; most since '91.

Lifts may be closed, but there's still top to bottom snow for some time to come. Dozens are hiking it every day. There was one warm week back in February, but other than that, it's only now starting to feel like spring skiing. It snowed Monday, so it's not even corn yet.

Happy Hiking/Skinning. Pic is of Great Northern mountain, taken yesterday.

P.S. Targhee this weekend!

Sorry b0ardski,

Love Turner, but going down to Grand Targhee tomorrow to ride the final weekend there with dredman and his family. Snowfall at GT is 564 inches so far, with a settled base of 133. They reported 5 last night and it's still snowing, but forecast is for sunny and warm this weekend. Long drive, but should be fabulous...

Why if I wasn't injured I'd show you how a real man takes a bath!:lol::lol::lol:

Thanks for the laugh Dr D. Keep healing up. My back is acting up a bit this spring. Along with my knee, hip, ribs, shoulder.....uh actually that is feeling pretty good, and eyes. Guess its O.L.D. disease.

Nice pics j and dred. Maybe with a drysuit? Glad you made it over this winter Dave. Pow is good, can't wait to rip with the Montana crew at the Big next year. Yes D I am really going to make it. Planning on it and saving now for the gas for the trip.

Spring conditions finally made it to Big Mountain today (Saturday April 26).

Coverage is still excellent, top to bottom.

In other news, 2008 - 2009 season pass price is now $535 through Sept 30th, but it won't be any good for the summer. Now there's a separate $99 summer lift pass.
