I face this decision right now..I really dont need the money but I have a fp157 blue metalflake and a 2003 fish 160 that I never ride. The fp i keep on telling myself that I will give it to my kid (who is three) and the fish is that one day I might do a snowcat trip out west one day. Truthfully I doubt either will happen (well maybe the kid) but I keep them both just in case.
I am one of those riders...I only have burton bindings but the last soft ones I brought (customs) came with their unidisk. I just get an uncomfortable feeling that they are not as strong as separate disk....
let me know how you make out with that. I happen to be around the same weight and size...180 lbs 5'6" and I am riding a FP167 this year. (if the east coast ever gets snow). On my Speed 160 I am riding 19" stance and find it the most comfortable and stable. I tried 18" and 20". angles around 51 f/b. I was planning on a 19" as well on the FP
the following is a satirical comment. the writer of the following does not premote and demote the above style of riding......that said
I love sitting on the toilet it gets with away from the wife and kids for awhile.
on the serious side. I do the same thing I am going to check out that article
i get down on a nice day of pow but down in the middle Atlantic states its few and far between so give the cold weather and the guns on full blast so i can get out and ride
I wouldn't mind taken that out for a spin through the woods. sry to hear about the board it sucks to get one stolen thats why I always lock up mine. even at home I get piss when my wife leaves the garage door open since all of my boards are hanging up. We live in bumbleF NJ but you never know since I was one of those kids back in the day. an open garage door or unlocked door was just an invitation to have fun
I have the winds as well...you need to be in your bindings to be able to set the forward forward....and even then you have to guess at which setting you are at. I do not believe they are adjustable but are set a 10 20 30 degrees forward lean.
They only use the 156MD/HD the first year of fish. The 160 only came in one flex pattern. also the first year fish 2003 had the most amount of taper 40mm, burton went to 30 mm of taper from 2004 on and the malolo has 20 mm of taper. the new super model has 10 mm of taper.
I have a 160 fish and while it handles the Powder very well...Its not all that great on the groomers....now I have the first year first that has 40mm of taper while this year has 30mm. I agree with the above the Malolo is supposed to be a better all around board....also if you can find one the new supermodels are really suppose to rock
if that was the 62a that was on the bay a week or so ago that board was the first year of the primes. Maybe a year a two before the blue metalflake ones which where 95? But to answer your question I say go for it
Here all I got.
The 171 Kelly is a wall ornament. The Ouija was just tuned last year so I plan on taking it out this year. The balance56 is my freeride board. I really dont ride the FP57. Use the FP67 as my big mountain (VT) board. The Speed 160 as my all around board and the Fish 160 as my pow board..
plus I have a PJ7.3 coming to me thanks Dr. D
I have a kelly 171 it was the first year that the 3D pattern came out. the entire topsheet is exactly the way you describe and has been that way almost since the end of its first season. and that board was ridden hard for its first three seasons
