  1. Just wanted to appreciate that you guys are getting fired up about trenching. When you hook up that first time and pull some serious g's then you barely move your knee and bam you are laying out your new edge... It seems like so many are going freestyle that it is just nice to from some that appreciate the alpine style too. Jerry

I need to find them first. Then I will click a couple pix. I have thermoflex liners in them now for some reason. Those are a heatfit liner that cost me around $100 - $150. I dont know if I have the stock liners anymore. I just kind of threw it out there, now I have to get organized. The boots I was only thinking $70 for them and now I have to think about the liner thing. If I put the liners in maybe another $50. Feel free to e me off line too jerry@jerryhadamphoto.com and I will try to gather everything up tonight. Jerry
  3. 2 door explorer sport for 2 kids and a dog. she hasn't started talking about a bigger car yet but I know she is getting pretty tight in that one. And of course up here we have and use often the four wheel drive. Jerry
  4. For the record D I can't wait until my wife is a soccer mom then she will be even hotter. My four year old wants to play next summer soooooo here comes my Milfy soccer mom dream. I also have the hots for Sacajawea as she comes from the Salmon River country that I have claimed as my own. I don't think I have seen two coins over here. So as long as it the coins with which you seek to punish the aberrant law maker/takers and not the image or spirit of Sacajawea that is fine. Someone else posted about learning to ride on a Hodaka. I am surprised anyone in this country still remembers what a Hodaka is. I learned to ride on one too. Jerry

and I may have some Raichle boots. using them as backup to my perpetually breaking (but fitting good) Burtons. Now I have two pairs of backup Burtons so would part with mine. Will double check size. I am 28.5 and 11 street size ( or so). I also have wide feet. If the size works I will lete you know. Hard boot riders carve deeper, Jerry
  6. My Canyon is the blue one maybe 4 years old. It seems quite soft compared to everything else I ride.I teach on it mostlybut it is too soft torsionally to carve much without exteme caution in application of edge to snow. So if this is substantially stiffer may be just the ticket. Slow down Bode you driving too fast. I still need to figure out some money but I am interested. Bob, I got a great idea. You bring the board to Idaho about the 4th week of January (after our mini carve session) I will arrange for about a foot of freshy. I demo the board and most likely buy it then. Best, Jerry
  7. That was pretty funny thanks ncermak. Reminds me of the best advice I ever received, If you have to break the law only break one at a time.
  8. I think I would have thrown the book at him. I paid almost that much for my 95 in a 75 twenty years ago. He is a role model and needs to act like one. Comes with the territory of being an action sports figure. Now that I have kids I have no tolerance for speeding on streets or in the slow zones on mountain. Always have been a Bode fan and this won't change that. Jerry
  9. I think I will pass and not just because it looks like your name is Ptexed in but it sounds a lot like my canyon. Thanks Bob. Jerry
  10. On the Frontier 185 I am at about 40 on the Canyon 173 at around 30, which feels like I am totally sideways on the board. I can still carve both pretty hard. YOu don't get the snap as the board transitions from one edge to the other, but particularly the Frontier will hold very well on the more firm terrain or groomed. The Canyon is better in the tight trees and maybe the really tight bumps. The Frontier performs well in all kinds of crud and chop and gs style bumps with airplane turns and everything. Best, Jerry
  11. And any idea what the stiffness rating might be. I am 245 and ride very hard. (a legend in his own mind) At least I break or break down everything I ride over time. Jerry
  12. mY Burton Frontier 185 with race plates is the shizz as far as I am concerned. Its not too wide that If conditions are firmer that it feels like riding a pig that doesn't want to change edges. And with that big nose and the stiffness it carries I can unweight and launch it up out of the powder at will. When I am riding untracked pow - for me it is all about the speed. Hence the size and stiffness and stability. I get going 40 to 50 pretty regular in the pow. I know that some of these other boards will do the same things I just havn't ridden them. Do I like the plates. Heck yeah. Easy to kick snow out of, easy in and out. Stores better in the chopper basket. The guides know you are not some jibbonking, overtesteroned, undersexed pimple packer. Sorry free ride guys but the freestyle movement is so underwhelming and sold out to the whatever the man is selling that it gets me all.... arrrgghhh. But the speed, the power and the control does not go away just because you are in the powdoo. So fun to think about I am getting all choked. UP. Best, Jerry
  13. Hey guys nice to hear the interest in our little hill. Johnny and Tombo it will be good to ride with you both again. Tombo, if you are interested in sponsoring a crash zone for our travelling buds let me know. I may have a spot or two as well at my house for you guys trying to save your money for beer instead of Hotel. Warning: I do have a four year old and one that will be a year in January. Anyone else?? Buehler?? Let the trenching begin. Jerry

I think you would want to go to a ski shop and have them measure you for shells. Involves putting foot in shell with liner removed and checking for space behind heel. Worth it to get the right fit. Jerry
  16. I am just sorry I didn't think of something like this.
  17. Randy, Did you photoshop that sign up? Sorry If i am acting suspicious. If not where is this church as I want to go. Jerry
  18. Thanks to all who have responded. Should be great fun. It looks like I have to be in Vegas the night of the 22nd for a trade show. So we will have to lock the dates in for the 18th, 19th and 20th of January. Will update as I know more. Jerry
  19. I have taught hundreds of groms to snowboard as well and Phil is right on about not pushing things. I did have a five year old who started at three (not pushed by dad) who could ollie two feet, was the fastest and youngest in the class and still did not have a toe turn. Children develop from the head out. Fine finger and arm movements come before fine toe and leg movements. I did have a two and half year old who desperately wanted to be like older brother on snowboard. So we put the ski boots in free style bindings and I ran backwards down the hill for a half an hour catching the kid every twenty feet or so as speed, terrain warranted. No turns were made. The kid had a ball. Was it snowboarding?? In some sense yes and no. Parents were happy. Kid was ecstatic and I walked away with a nice tip. :o . You can introduce younger kids to the idea of snowboarding and have them work on things in the off season ( a carpeted living room as an example) like just standing up from the heelside. I do this with adults too. If they can do it on a flat floor its easy on a slope. So if you feel like the youngster is ready. Start slow, no expectations, keep it fun and leave them wanting more. Best, Jerry
  20. Yes Virginia hard boots can and should be more comfortable than softies. Once I tried my first custom liners in hard boots I realized that there is a God and God loves us and wants us to carve upon the earth in comfort. Sheffy, It is all about the fit and not the external material. Soft boots can not be made to fit as well as hard boots by the nature of the material. I am not talking about walking across the parking lot (although I am pretty comfortable there too). Not to sound like a smart a**, but I have spent years teaching in hard boots, on the hill from 9 to 4 and feet warm, comfortable and dry at the end of the day. Having said that my fit will probably go to hell and my feet will hurt all year - hope not. Best fit to you and all of your tribe, Jerry
  21. http://www.extremefunnyhumor.com/mov_extremesnowboarding.htm Thought the crew might get a kick out of this.
  22. First I have to start with left foot. Kind of obsessive compulsive but it is whatever works. Foot in and then foot in right boot. Now tap helps several times gently on heel to seat foot in pocket. Again first left and then right. Before latching loosen all buckles three revolutions (on Burton Fires), start with arch and latch buckles working up. Toe buckle is not really too important at this point. If it doesn't feel great start over. If they are really loose tighten buckles one turn from arch up. AS foot heats liner things should feel better. Leave loose and start your first run as soon as you feel heel moving tighten all one more turn. Lather, rinse repeat as necesary. I have to say that i have used custom injected liners and footbeds and swear by them. I hardly ever have foot pain unless I go too tight on first run and get some arch cramping. Good luck and be nice to your feet and they will be nice to you, Jerry
  23. sold the boots Thanks everyone.Still looking for new/used/10.5 fire/furnace/stratos
  24. first time on plates used a weird track looking heel lock down (like a catek that was mutated for torture) binding and Koflach mountaineering boots. They were too soft so that when I tried to lean back the whole boot kind of collapsed. My first turn on mid River was a ripping heelside that locked on the edge. I railed it all the way across the run through the debris on the side of the run, still railing, going uphill slightly, until I beatered through the sagebrush and thin snow on the side of the run. I skidded on home and got real hard boots shortly after.
  25. My first carving board, the old Ecstasy 167 asym. Of course I blew that one up and two others like it but have one in the corner of the garage. They had good names for a couple other models - can't remember now.
