  1. meant the bindgins "suck" but rather describing the depressions (suck holes in the base of the board where the inserts pull up. This has also happened to me on virtually every board I have except my Burners. I think this is a compression of the malleable or soft parts of the core and it has not seemed to effect the ride of any of my equipment. Does make it harder to make the base look pretty.
  2. It is happening. The snow could not be better. Damn I love January up here. No people and cold chalky, carvable snow everywhere. Less than two weeks. Hope all who were interested can make it, 'cause I think it is going to be worth it. Love to get an informal head count on who's in. Jerry
  3. Thrashed myself today. Damn it was good. Upper Grey was not groomed but the rest of the mountain was. Broadway Face impeccable. Canyon was on fire. . Olympic Ridge is buffed and of course no one - as in zero people were on it. Greyhawk mid and lower was buff as well. I am not worthy but I tried to put in the biggest, baddest curbs I could. That is what my wife calls my trench. Going to try again tomorrow am. By afternoon the skidders had pushed up piles of fluff that you had to be on your toes for. But still darn good. Tis the season. I never know when I can get up until the night before. Jon if you can make it up I can usually bust out for a couple of hours in the morning. So come on up. Jerry
  4. After something like 70 inches of snow here in the last week and a half, now two days of cold and grooming I think it is time to bust the big board out. Clear as a bell here at 6:30 but supposed to get cloudy this afternoon. Talked my wife into opening the store so gonna go see if I can let her rip. Wish you all were here. ) ( ) ( )
  5. I gave up alcohol, coffee and sex for a winter. The first two voluntarily, the last... oh well. Was at Crested Butte and it snowed 600+ inches and I had such a good time. Even enjoyed going out to the bars but I only shot pool, drank fizzy water with a squeeze of lime and laughed at the drinkers knowing how hurting they were going to be when I was still going to be charging hard the next day. Without the beer goggles I could see all kinds of subtle stuff going on that wasn't always obvious while drinking. Different but still really fun. Then on St Pattys day I got sucked in by a very bad friend and some Watney's Cream stout. Woke up with my face in the carpet, not knowing where I was and still further reinforcement for not letting the monkey ride you. I do drink about a six pack a week now, hardly ever more than one a night. A bottle of Crown lasts me about six months. Wish I was in as good of shape as I was at the end of the no vices winter. Good luck and hope you find the right path. And don't forget that there are some people who were just not designed to drink. Jerry
  6. thanks for bringing us back around skipuppy
  7. I had a Supermodel 181 for several years. After the first couple of years I found that I could fold the nose at will and sometimes not at will. On a soft and slight slushy day with wife and nephew I was cranking throught some slushy crud bumps when the nose dove into a bump and just stayed there. I did a terrific forward flip kind of cartwheel looking thing with added points for a 23 yard goggle ejection. My wife was shocked and laughing her butt off. She said - I have never seen a crash like that and didn't expect to see it from you. Got a Frontier the next season and have been happy ever since. I could carve the Super quite nicely but had to be very careful about how hard I inserted the edge and to never get forward - even weight both feet. If I did get forward the nose would just stay there and body would slide downhill face first usually. Not the best technique.
  8. We have just been pounded for the last few days. Kathy the bump was to try to put this back on the front page so people will know we are doing this. Anytime we have this much snow the carving turns awesome when it stops and will stay that way for a while. Sun Valley replaced their fleet of groomers last year. A dozen new machines - 4 million plus. And I have to say from what I have seen they are a bit better. Sun Valley will do nothing on tix unless we have 25 people prepaid for three days. So sorry no help their. The format I wanted to do is get on the mountain as early as possible 9:00 am normally. But working on early ups if the video angle works. Shoot some video for an hour or so. Rip up the mountain for a couple of hours review video around noon or 1 oclock. The rest of the day free ride. ( I will have to go to my store for a bit in the afternoons - no such thing as a day off). Happy New Year everyone and may all your carving be great, Jerry
  9. Phil - Thanks for the race report. I saw Jasey's rather weak attempt to push Graham out at the bottom of the second run. I have known and raced against Graham starting about 10 years ago and he is rock solid, rips and is a great kid. He deserved the win.
  10. bump and 40 inches of fresh means the carving is going to be awesome.
  11. So my wife who has a very nice lizard tattoo on her leg is a tramp? The woman I am married to is pure gold and I was never happier to introduce someone to my mom. This is someone who volunteers with several non-profits. She walked across the country to raise money for salmon and trout habitat recovery. (25,000 was raised). I would never think to call any woman a tramp. That would indicate a certain presumption on my part that I am better than someone else. I am not and neither are you. Learn it in this lifetime or the next existence. I may be your best friend for being totally honest with you. Sorry if that hurts.
  12. I dropped out of the program when they started changing the standards to include park and pipe and rails - stuff like that - as part of their ride teach at an expert level any terrain, any conditions. I was an examiner, division clinician leader, two time representative to national congress and snowboard chair of our division for a while. I am just not interested in any of that. I continue to get lots of request private carve lessons and my riding on the mountain is the best sales tool I have. This last year in my evaluation they started getting in my ass to ride soft etc. My first two lessons this year have been request private hard boot carve lessons so they can shove their soft boots up their half pipe as far as I am concerned. Sorry you couldn't do their clinic. What a load. Merry Happy Holydays and smoke your Happy Hanukah.
  13. I have a four year old and she hasn't got to see Dad do much trenching. Would love to show her what we do.
  14. I like it. It is quite stiff and a little short for me. It is really a pretty good board and it loves to be jumped on hard. Which one? Color?
  15. after the fat elvis thing I was almost afraid to come back to this thread. Thanks
  16. For me having a beard means not having to scrape my face everyday so. Something that I hate. Not trying to hide a thing. When I do shave everyone says I look 10 years younger. Getting to the point where that is not a bad thing either and I still don't give a rats butt - don't shave unless someone is paying me to. LOL. :D
  17. He has a guitar store and he actively advertises that he matches internet prices. But he also trolls eBay for one off stuff that he then marks up in his store. Who the heck knows.
  18. I have met some outrageous beautiful, sexy and wealthy women. Because of my carving. Much better than the average park rat babe.
  19. Got my first day of carving in today too. It was freaking double thumbsup , awesome. Only had time for a few runs though but Sun Valley is absolutely deserted right now. With perfect carvable chalk in most areas. The gun goo is sitting on top of many perfectly groomed runs which pisses me off only a little. Most runs had zero people on them. Wish you all were here. Now if I can only get my schedule figured out so I don't have to work for the next four months.
  20. I do that too. Not too hard don't want to lose any camber. I also employ the Martian Mind Meld and the Jedai mind trick to tweak their head a little more so they don't come close. At 6 feet and 230 in a helmet with a space age looking Burner underneath I don't have much trouble except for the ski team kids and an occasional snowboard grom. When they get close or God forbid actually touch the instrument that gives me so much I turn around and ask them politely to "Please get off my Fu**ing snowboard as the edges are lethal and if she gets pissed off there is no telling what might happen." or something to that effect.
  21. This is best done early in the turn way up on the side. Not really across the fall line. Too much there and the board will really hook up and throw you on your sphincter.
  22. YOu guys must be getting some lucky bounces
  23. or just night at a small hill? Love the poma. I learned to ride one years ago but some friends refused to on their boards. Saw some entertaining antics of people trying to load one for the first time. sorry about the shoulder xray. heal fast. carve hard.
  24. Not that you are not the king Willy.
