  4. I like when he goes heelside to toeside with a near 360 in between, rotating uphill. That's cool. A flatland alley-oop. However I have a big pet peeve with falling leaf. Making 3 "turns" in a row on the same edge is not snowboarding IMO. It's just a glorified version of what little kids do when they think they're snowboarding but really not yet.
  5. OMG I went to one of those in Boston! Brushie seemed shy but nice. I didn't want to bother him for an autograph. I don't recall if he snubbed us or not.
  6. Definitely make sure you are in the right size, and then add Intuition liners and upgraded or custom footbeds. Have the liners molded with the footbeds inside, and toe caps to create wiggle room and warmth for your toes. You can have this done at a competent shop or you can DIY. If the shop wants to only heat the inside of the liner, or does not do toe caps, they are not competent.
  7. Should be a great week, enjoy!
  8. New lift spins February 9.
  9. Check all your fasteners regularly, folks. Pulled up my pant leg after riding and this fell out. Whoopsies!
  10. I have a pair for sale.

  12. I also think the stiffer tongues are the way to go. Simple, cheaper, easy installation. They add some lateral stiffness too, which I thought was needed. UPZs already have a spring system you can adjust, may as well make use of the one you already paid for. Another benefit of stiffer tongues is riding in walk mode becomes an option when conditions call for it. I'd be afraid of breaking my ankles or rupturing an Achilles with the standard black tongues in walk mode.
  13. I don't know. He was Burton's first bad boy, so that's something. He was very good at halfpipe. Must have been for him to get what, 3 signature boards from Burton?
  14. Ha! I thought of P&J but I don't think they have mass appeal across all of snowboarding. Of course I loved watching them in the Burton movies but I wonder if they were a turnoff for most. Maybe we need an Alpine HOF here... Also thought of Terje but he became such a recluse and anti-competitor so quickly as far as I know. But I stopped watching snowboard movies after Scream of Consciousness, I don't know if he was in a lot of films doing incredible stuff and progressing the sport.
  15. Unbelievable bummer. Having organized carving sessions I can tell you that it's like planning a wedding and takes about 9 months of your life to pull it off. What a huge disappointment for Dave and Kristin to see it all go down the drain. Major appreciation to them for going to the effort to bring carvers together and supporting their local mountain.
  16. $6400. Not bad for ol' Jeff. I'm surprised it went for such a round number. Whenever I snipe I add some random dollars and cents just for good measure. I wonder what the exit strategy is for these collectors. I suppose if money is truly no object for them, they can just hold indefinitely. But if a collector wants eventual return on investment, they're going to have to time their sales precisely. A snowboard is not a classic car. This is not like parking 6 figures in a mint 70s Porsche 911. Eventually the people who know or care who Jeff Brushie is will either die or lose interest. Also makes me wonder which pro snowboarders or other snowboarding celebrities have achieved perpetual celebrity status within fans of the sport. Off the top of my head I'd guess: Jake Burton Carpenter Tom Sims Craig Kelly Terry Kidwell Shaun Palmer Shaun White
  17. Uhh, yes I have read both sets of rules, Phil. FIS rules do not apply here, Phil. Nor do I want them to as they are leaning towards an unreasonable bias against carving.
  18. $100/cm (after 100cm)
  19. That article is sorely lacking pictures.
  20. It depends. If the radii are blended or part of a more complex curve, you can have an even bigger difference. However I've had boards where the two or three radii were just butted together end to end and that's not as good. The "sweet spot" of the board gets smaller and if you're not right on it the different segments of the board do not cooperate. It also depends on how you want the board to perform.
