  1. Unreal David! Glad you are on the mend and that it wasn't worse. Thanks for the reminder!
  2. Looks like it replaces the Spectra. I was thinking it was taking aim at the Jones Freecarver but with a whopping 26.5cm maximum waist width it seems more like a Hovercraft. I like the idea of deleting tail length and adding it to the nose. No loss of effective edge, better powder performance. From i-carve's FB page:
  3. I've had Palau liners and as far as I can tell they are the same darn thing as Intuition. If you can get Palau easily then you're all set. Intuition makes moldable liners for all kinds of boots. Ski, snowboard hard/soft, cross country, etc. I haven't looked into Palau's catalog.
  4. I'm with you, @SunSurfer. Luckily my feet are a perfect match for MS C-shell. No downsizing needed, or possible.
  5. I'm overstimulated.
  6. "Man... carving in hardboots is so much easer!" - expert softboot carver @dhamann https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-5vPDXC5/0/CCgMKWmt5pg5TZDR2RDZvhZvNzFr6nhnnZcVCLTRv/1920/i-5vPDXC5-1920.mp4 (very steep!)
  7. It's probably brand-dependent. I tried downsizing Deeluxe Track 700s a full size once and the performance was great - no more heel lift. Comfort was acceptable. It would have worked, without curled toes, but the dealbreaker was the Intec cable pressing into my heel. I was married to step-ins at the time, so I sold the boots quickly.
  8. The UPZ Flo liners didn't work well for me. Comfort was fine but I could feel them squirming around inside the shell - very unnerving while riding. I also thought they were too soft. YMMV. Switching to Inuition was the solution, and they stiffened up the boot noticeably. If Flo liners come with the boots (in Hug's case they do not) one should definitely give them a try but I would not pay extra for them. We know that molded Intuitions work great for basically everybody.
  9. James and Alan have given me the kick in the pants to finally redo the articles. The formatting suffered when Bomber changed hands, and yeah the content needs to be updated. Give me the summer. Videos next winter!
  10. Honestly wondering how downsizing a full size or more is even possible. I know it's not that unusual but I know I couldn't do it. I "downsize" my 28.0 and 28.4 feet into a 28.0 boot and my 28.4 big toe is firmly pressed against the end of the boot. Do you curl your toes? What happens when you do the shell test, are your heel and toe both touching plastic? Are your feet permanently cold? Do you lose toenails? Anyone else downsize this much too?
  11. I agree with CB Utah. Try on the boots indoors and determine whether they will work for you without wearing them outdoors so that you can exchange them if they're too tight. Usually once you use boots for snowboarding, there are no returns. UPZ are lower volume than T700. Most people replace the stock UPZ liner quickly. Intuition Plug Wrap liners are great for a low volume situation. Be sure to mold them in the oven.
  12. Been there. Eventually the plastic in the cuff fails and you'll have nothing to bolt to. Time to consider new boots or a different brand.
  13. I'd go before Reggae if you can. 30" of snow since 3/10 have turned things around, and another foot is predicted tomorrow. But next week it gets mild and there is r*** in the forecast. The weekend after Reggae they usually have the pond skimming contest, so things will still be going then weather permitting, but don't expect any carving.
  14. Prior makes top shelf boards, no need to second guess or justify it. Enjoy!
  15. Probably no carving for the next few days, but for good reasons - 11" last night and another foot predicted for Saturday. Next week starts with some chilly nights so maybe some morning carving then.
  16. Hmmmm… https://www.instagram.com/reel/C1-mFgFs0Ts/?igsh=YWdoYzRsaG1wMm9q
  17. Ha! Sorry we went for all the steeps, but today was the day for it. I haven't had a day like that all season. @dhamann brings it. These clips are on one of the steepest groomers on the mountain, not that the camera really shows it.
  18. Gondi Line top to bottom was all-time today. https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-5vPDXC5/0/CCgMKWmt5pg5TZDR2RDZvhZvNzFr6nhnnZcVCLTRv/1920/i-5vPDXC5-1920.mp4 https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-sjDfvvT/0/z3P3kjmv6SqsSfHfZcxXKzhzcmZ9StkSzKCGStGk/1280/i-sjDfvvT-1280.mp4
  19. SuperQuad, 8:30, come along
  20. Gonna get out for a couple hours first thing.
  21. Check the weather. Possible wind holds Thursday. Snuck out for a couple hours today with @dhamann, was surprisingly good on the upper mountain. HB worthy. It must have gotten snow while I was getting drizzle at the condo. This will probably be the last good week for carving. weather.com for Carrabassett Valley: The forecast goes to shit for several days starting the 26th.
  22. Not trying to shut it down and I'm not irritated, it just feels like we're talking in circles and beating some dead horses. Of course you're welcome and encouraged to keep asking questions.
  23. I think it's time to go ride and try this stuff before overthinking it any more. Good luck!
