RIP Les Paul

A formerly living legend... http://www.cnn.com/2009/SHOWBIZ/Music/08/13/obit.les.paul/index.html Can you imagine anytime you heard music played on an electric guitar, being able to think, "yeah, I invented that."??
2. so glad I emigrated from Mass.
3. Agreed. I once saw a 20/20 tv special where they interviewed violent crime convicts in a maximum security prison. Really scary dudes. They asked them what was their biggest fear going into their crime. They ALL responded that it was that their intended victim and/or property owner would be packing heat. When asked if the police or jail time was a consideration, they just laughed.
4. Well duh, they might have bombs in them.
5. NSR is dual radius, and about 20mm of taper, like Kessler. Schtubby is a traditional single radius board with about 4mm of taper. VSR is... well, more than two radii.
6. If you're going to call me out for using a stereotype, you better have references to back up your stereotypes.
7. Don't be silly, you can't kill for stealing.
8. broad-sweeping generalization ahead I am well aware of the existence of many good, benevolent, nice-guy police officers, and I have benefitted from their services. However it seems to me that cops in general are simply a different breed of people. I had a group of them in a snowboarding lesson once. I thought, cool, cops off duty, out of their element, maybe I can interact with them on a human level now. Not really. Although I had some good conversations with some of them, they would all slip back into cop mode now and then, and reveal an innate sense of superiority over the public. I was turned off. They really seemed to be wired differently. I'm sure it is very difficult to not become this way after years on the force, dealing with the absolute bottom of society on a daily basis.
9. The US Constitution allows for it. For now.

13. Could be ACL. Have it checked. Finding out that it's the ACL the hard way on the slopes would be "extraordinarily bad".
14. that's cool.... but what's really disturbing is homeless flaming robots.
15. You might consider a used Canon 5D (the original, not Mk 2) if you can save up a grand. Full Frame, usable ISO 3200, major DOF control... would be a perfect wedding tool.
16. Yup. I wonder how long it takes him to turn all those bolts when adjusting camber.
17. ahh, the classic fire-hose pneumatic press. hope he puts a metal sheet between the board and all that rectangular bar stock.
18. oh now I see! sweet 90210 'do.

23. I don't know the collector's market, but I think $250 may be high for that particular board. It's very old, but not super old. The Woodies are the real prize, imo. My friend had this board when it was new and I don't remember it being t-nutted but I can't be sure. That board looks like it has been well used and probably tossed around in the garage several times. Will take some careful work with a razor blade and/or goof-off to get that giant sticker off the nose, as it covers the key part of the graphic, the Burton mountain logo.
24. I am but a lame software engineer.
